Captivate

I usually use Adobe Captivate to embed training videos but without download option. Some time ago I consulted in this forum the problems that students had when loading these videos. The option they gave me was to hire a video streaming service. However, I have been thinking that if Adobe captivate offers the option to reduce the quality of the video to the students, they can solve this problem themselves so that it loads faster. Can you tell me if it is possible to configure the option to choose the quality at which you want to reproduce the video? (as on Youtube)

Good day everyone. we have just completed our first Captivate project.When reviewing in Scorm Cloudit has recommended we disable the popup blocker in the settings.We cannot find where this is.We are working in latest Captivate 2019 Would appreciate your assistance. warm regards,Shona

I'm building a replica of some PDF forms for a client in Captivate. Each page needs to have multiple TEBs that can store user input. I've set them to be validated and scored and ticked to report interaction data but there is no correct answer so the user can enter anything they like and it should be stored. When I test on SCORM Cloud and exit the SCORM after entering some data it is always lost and no interaction data is reported. Is this possible? What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Hi,When I try to record an audio in Captivate 2019, it gives me the following error:My recording device (RealTek) is configured but it's not showing up in the Audio Settings. It displays only the 'Custom' option.I'd also like to indicate that I work on a VDI (if at all the issue has something to do with this).Any pointers on how I can resolve this? Thanks,Divya

I cannot load existing Captivate projects. When I try to load them, it gets stuck at 30%. Please help. I did isntall latest updates and patched but still it is having the same issue. I'm stuck.

My Adobe Captivate 2019 version 11.5.5 isn’t working properly, in my MacBook Pro. I was running BigSur and thought that might be the problem, so I downgraded to macOS Catalina, reinstalled Adobe Captivate 2019 but the problem continues. Initially this wasn’t an issue, this appeared I think with one of the Captivate updates. When I’m in 100% magnification everything is black:  When I’m in 25% I can see the hole slide:  When I go to 50% it shows the left lower part of the slide:  but when I try to scroll left, instead of scrolling it seems the black layer moves but the slide remains in the same spot, and then the black layer covers the slide. Does anyone can help me? 

I have a custom play / pause button for my course that uses an advanced action and states. I'm running into a problem during 508 compliance review where I need to have unique alternative text for both the play state and the pause state of the same button (so a learner hears the appropriate text read when tabbing to the button based on whether the course is currently paused or playing). I tried using state view and editing the alt text in each unique state. However, when testing with JAWS, the screenreader does not pick up any of the alt text designated in the different states. JAWS only reads the alt text (or lack thereof) for the default normal state. Has anyone run into this before and know of any workarounds? Thanks!

I have a project in Captivate that will be put as scorm activity in moodle LMS. It has all content slides and no question slides. I want to assign a grade say (10 points) once a student completed it. Please suggest the best way to do it so that grades are assigned automatically to the student.I was thinking  of two ways1. Add grades to the next button of the second last slide in Actions>Reporting (The last slide has only one button to exit the project)2. Add a button on the last slide and assign grades to this button in Actions>Reporting (There is already a button on the last slide to exit the project which can be used to assign the grade. But as the project is set to open in a new window in LMS and if the student used the close button to exit the project then the student will not be assigned a grade but the activity will be marked completed. That's why I am inclined to Method 1 above. Please suggest the best way or any other way to do it in a better way. 

Hello, Captivate Community! I'm hoping someone out there can help me with my interactive video. To demonstrate my dilemma, I have created transparent buttons that appear over white boxes when the boxes appear on a grey background. When the button is clicked, it jumps to a bookmark and continues playing until the playhead is paused by another button. But when the button is clicked upon, it still remains throughout the rest of the video. Eventually, with so many transparent buttons covering the screen, the user is in danger of pressing another button sending them back in the timeline to an unintended area of the video. As you can see here, there are never more than one button active on the timeline.   Does anyone know how to make the button disappear from the video once it is successfully clicked on? I can only do one thing on success, correct? I cannot add two things that occur, can I? I've posted the captivate project file here:https://app.box.com/s/1jo3gl

I understood from a colleague that as long as we could prove we have an active license, we could receive free in-person help with Captivate.  Does anyone know if this is true?

TLCMediaDesign kindly replied to my previous post on controlling closed captions in event videos: "The only way I know of doing this is to create the video in an html page and use a .vtt file for the captions, when the browser sees the vtt include, it will also include a CC button." Sorry, I need a little more help with this. I assumed that it would be obvious which file to modify in the published Captivate HTML5 project to add the HTML <track> tag to include the closed captions, something like: <video width="320" height="240" controls>  <source src="Vi2.mp4" type="video/mp4">  <track src="Vi2.vtt" kind="subtitles" srclang="en" label="English"></video> I can only find reference to the video in the CPM.js file. Please can you provide more guidance how to create the video in an html page and use a .vtt file for the captions. NB I have created the .vtt file in YouTube. Thanks

Hi,here is a fun one!I did create  3sec+/3sec- buttons (thanks Rick Wilson) and wanted it to look like this.As we can see I used 2 triangles atop each other (well oblique of course) and shapes with image fill to get the look.Actually the forward and rewind work great only if they are not on top each other.Also there is no "cursor over" image state change. Sometimes it is triggered but only if I come from a specific direction and hit a certain spot.This is very strange to me.Even if I place the 2 triangles apart the hover state doesn´t work.My assumption, these triangles are still somehow just a rectangular box...Any idea how to fix it or at least create an alternative?Thanks!

Why does it seem to be impossible to get a Captivate project to work on a Wordpress site???I stopped my Captivate subscription because of this issue and I've been trying to find a solution for months. There has to be an answer. If I can't upload to a Wordpress site, then what other options are there? Where and how are people publishing their Captivate projects. Please help. -Tom

I was wondering if anyone had developed a solution so learners can toggle close captioning on/off in event videos in Captivate. I am aware of Paul Wilson's method for hardcoding captions into videos. We've done this using Premier rather than Camtasia. I was thinking that it should be possible to give learners control over whether they see captions or not with a custom button, say beside the video playbar. Has anyone done this? Can you suggest a good way to achieve this desirable functionality to support accessibility requirements?ThanksSteve

I've had the issue of recording system audio through Captivate.  I can record my voice but when i try to record system audio it records with glitches in the sound.  My colleague has had the same issue.  I've tried updating Captivate, updating the audio driver in Windows, and searching Adobe Community Forums for the answer.  I've even attended webinars and put the issue in the chat pod with no answer.  I'm not sure if this feature is blocked now because of copyright issues (recording audio from YouTube videos, etc), but I would love an answer.  I provided a video sample of what happens when I attempt to record system audio.....listen for the glitches.  

I created an advanced action using several Change State of commands see below:  It will tell me the script is saved:  Then when I click close it asks if I would like to save   If I say yes it tells me the file already exists    If I say no and open it back up the script is gone.  I know some of my screenshots have Checkup_button_1a and some have Checkup_button_1b. That is that the problem. I have tried multiple times and I just grabbed some screen shots from one attempt and some from another.  It only seems to be doing this when I add a change of state command. I have used this type of command multiple times with no problem. Thanks, 

Hi community,  Struggling with a multichoice quiz I'm creating using shapes. I can't save my advanced action with both change state and assigning a number to the variable. Any suggestions?   

I've been building eLearning modules in Captivate for the past several months, and they've all made heavy use of slide videos uploaded from my computer. The problem I'm experiencing is that with my most recent unit, all my reviewers who've been doing QA for me have reported that the final three videos in the unit are displaying at ~50% opacity for no apparent reason. I cannot figure out what is causing this display issue. All the videos are displaying at normal, 100% opacity when I view them both in the HTML5 preview in my browser, and after I publish and view the SCORM file. FWIW, occasionally I will view a file in HTML5 preview and the videos will appear transparent, but usually I just refresh the browser window and it goes back to normal. This is the first time I'm hearing of this issue in the SCORM file. Does anyone have a solution?

I am working in Captivate 6 and need to include a numbered list that is too long to fit into a single text box. Unfortunately, the part of the list in the second text box restarts at number 1, and there does not seem to be a way to tell it to start at a higher number. Does anyone know how to do this?

Hallo,ich habe ein Objekt mit 3 Status und eine bedingte erweiterte Aktion dazu, die jeden der 3 Status identifizierbar machen soll, weil nur einer der Status als "richtig" akzeptiert werden soll (mit jedem Klick sollen sich Status und Wert der Variable ändern, bei "Senden" soll die Variable überprüft werden und je nach Wert ein "richtig" oder "falsch" eingeblendet werden). Meine bisherigen Versuche sind leider gescheitert. Der aktuelle Stand: Reiter 1:IF [var] ist gleich [0]THEN Status ändern von [Objekt] zu [Status 1] + zuweisen [var] mit [1] Reiter 2:IF [var] ist gleich [1]THEN Status ändern von [Objekt] zu [Status 2] + zuweisen [var] mit [2] Reiter 3:IF [var] ist gleich [2]THEN Status ändern von [Objekt] zu [Status 3] + zuweisen [var] mit [0] Egal ob ich THEN leer lasse oder "Weiter" eingebe, ändert sich leider der Status und damit auch die Variable nicht. Hat jemand eine Idee, wie ich das Problem löse? Vielen Dank im Voraus!
