Captivate

Dear all,I hav created this animation (cptx files) into which I inserted (Options - Add Audio) sound tracks. There is one sound files attached to each "slide". All goes well, even when I preview the project. The trouble starts when I publish the file as a video as the sound track becomes messy: it is as if I was listening to an old damaged vynil record, with scratched and the needle jumping grooves. Can someone please advise on how to prevent this?ThanksPascal

I have a drag and drop interaction where I need to find out which part (x-/y-coordinates) of the drag object hits the drop target while moving the drag object. In the attached video you can see what I need to do:While moving the drag object only when the left blue point of the drag object is over the drop target (right blue point) a red frame is shown. When another part of the drag object is over the drop target the red frame is not visible. So I can't use the InBuilt state "DragOver". After Mouse relase I have to check again the x-/y-cordinates of  the drag object. Is the drag object in the right position (red frame visible) the solution is correct. Is the drag object not in the right position (red frame not visible) the solution is wrong.Hope the JS experts can help me.

Hi, I have recently been trying to make a VR 360 role-playing game with Captivate, I have already set the preloader to 100 percents, but while playing the slides, it still keeps on loading and freezing in between slides. Is there a way to make sure everything including normal pictures, 360 pictures and sound are all preloaded before starting slides?   It's going to seriously damage the whole experience when there are freezes and loading in between slides.Any help and suggestions are really appreciated. Thanks!    

Hey all,I just tried to use a button with an added state (the text turns green when chapter is done). When I change the position of that button it will jump around whenever I go over it with the mouse cursor. The problem is that I can not change the position for the other states of the button but it is clearly saved independently. Looks like a bug to me. So I actually can not press the button at all anymore.Update:This only happens in a responsive projectThis problem affects every smartshape turned into a button, not just the ones with an added state.Message was edited by: Nicolas Reibnitz

I started a responsive project, the first panel has 4 smart shapes, used as buttons, that reveal different states on the panel.  There is also a button on the first page to advance the project to the second panel, but whenever I try to activate it (when previewing or after publishing the project) the button moves to the center of panel.  Continuing to attempt to activate the button causes it to jump around between the center of the page and the location I set it to.  Any ideas why this may be happening?

I want the user to enter their response in the text entry box (for an open-ended question) and till then the submit button to be hidden/disabled. The submit would be shown only when the TEB has some inputs. I am struck with this. I tried to drag the TEB submit button off the frame and created a new button as submit button and worked with advanced actions but nothing worked. Is there any workaround for this? To give a simple example. I need the user to enter their names in TEB in the first slide which I could use in the rest of the slide with the help of variables. But the submit button should appear only after the user enters any input. We can use auto-submit option only if the number of characters are defined, but we can't limit the number of characters as it is a name.Any workaround please?

Hello, I would like to have a large rollover or pop up image when you click or hover over a smaller image. I tried using rollover or slidelet, but it will not allow me to publish it to HTML5. How can I achieve this? I also tried a button action, click to url, but that just opens a new blank page and takes the user away from the captivate presentation. Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

I have some projects made in version 3 or 4 (in 2005) the new version 7 of Captivate does not recognise them.Any Idea on how I can update them to a level that Captivate 7 can open them.Thanks

Forgive me if this has been asked before. When I search this forum, articles are several years old. I thought maybe this issue had been solved. We are moving to more mobile-responsive courses at my company. We have courses already developed and published as Scalable HTML. We were not planning to move to fluid boxes. We were looking to continue using Scalable HTML and adding Mobile Gestures.  In testing, I can see that if I have a Scalable course, I cannot pinch to zoom in any further. Is this still the case?  (Courses have a lot of text that gets pretty small on a cell phone. Ideally, it would be nice to zoom to enlarge the text as needed.) Thank you in advance!

Good evening All, I recently implemented the jspdf utility and it is great. I've just been informed that the pdf's created can be altered and edited, which is not ideal. I only have Adobe Reader so didn't check this aspect. Can someone advise if it is possible to make the pdf's read-only / non-editable. That would be much appreciated. ThanksPhil.

Hi all,  Basically, I have created a Click Box over the image of a brain.   When the box is clicked all the following are supposed to "go to next [('normal' <--> 'ON')] state": Brain, 2 Arrows, and 42 Lines (a.k.a. 'Tropomyosin').     On Project Preview, all actions are successful.    However, on HTLM5 Preview (publishing format), the Brain and 2 Arrows properly change state but only the 1st line (from the 42) successully changes state whilst the others remain unchanged.    I have tried many things and still can't figure it out... This post is my last resort.

Hi,I have been trying to sort this issue out for the last few hours reading multiple threads. Found a similar thread from 5 years ago so was hoping there may be an update or you can advise on other options.Essentially I need 3 quiz messages in quiz results screen:1. You passed - hit Next2. You failed - hit Retry button3. You failed - hit next button (for when they have failed twice)Seems as per thread from 5 years ago Captivate 9 still just has two text options, one for pass, one for fail. The old thread suggested removing these auto text boxes and replacing them with your own custom text box/shape and using advanced actions. Bingo, i thought that's the solution. But for the life of me I cant work out how to get the advanced action to show one of 3 boxes depending on the scenario.I know how to get it to choose from 2 messages - e.g. you passed - show message 1, you failed once - show message 2....but cant work out how advanced action could have 3 possible scenarios.Thanks

Hi,I am putting together a slideshow from powerpoint with audio naration for each slide. I'm using the playback control bar from the skin editor to control navigation, and each slide is auto-advancing at the end of its audio.How can I prevent the learner from advancing to the next slide until the audio for the current slide is complete?Follow on question if above is possible to (easily) do. If a learner then uses the back button to get to a slide s/he has already listened to, would it be possible to then allow them to manually advance to the next slide (since they've already listened to the current slide's audio)?This is probably simple to do since it seems like a common usage scenario - but I can't find how to do it.Thanks,Ari

Can anyone here help me?  I am a student just learning Captivate and I'm having three big issues.  I have been searching online and would appreciate any help you can offer.  1. Even with a "next" button and the button setting to "pause after", the audio for the next slide starts automatically.  How can I make it wait until the button is clicked?2. In a drag & drop interaction Captivate moves some of my drop items to new places (this interaction has multiple items and multiple correct answers).3. My failure message for the above drag & drop interaction is coming up even if the answer is correct. 

I have noticed for a while that Captivate creates and loads a dummy.html file into the SCORM package. When viewing the Javascript console, I sometimes see the dummy.html load up and then disappear from the DOM. I never paid much attention to it, because it never caused any issues. I have recently published a lesson that does not work on Safari on the iPad. When I look at the JS Console, I can see that a "dummyStyle" style tag is being added an removed constantly on this lesson. As far as I can tell, this lesson is no different than the other 20 lesson that I have created and published at the same time. In Chrome, this happens about every 20-30 seconds. In Safari, the adding and removing of this tag is happening constantly, so much that the Elements viewer is a constant flicker. I am thinking that this is what causes the lesson to not work on the iPad.  Has anyone expereinced this? Does anyone have any more insight into the dummy.html and dummyStyle? I am on a M

New to Captivate (2019) and am wanting to create software training as a narrated screen capture. I only seem to be able to do a single recording. If I make a mistake, I have to redo everything and start over. Am I missing something? I have been using the Video Demo project.I am used to another product which allowed me to record, pause, re-record a section if necessary, come back the next day and add more... Is this possibel?Thnaks,

Hello, I am working on a virtual project and I created a 10 question quiz within the same project.  Requiring the user to move around the room selecting the question hotspots and answering the questions  The quiz works fine as far as totaling the results and selecting continue to go to the last slide in the project. If I fail the quiz and the retake button appears, when I select the retake button the quiz results overlay goes away and just a question mark hotspot appears. When selected it does not appear to do anything.  I found I could click the back button to go back to the quiz questions and they were reset, but this did not work consistently.  I would think selecting retake quiz would take one back to the beginning of the quiz. Selecting Review Quiz does not work either.  I went into the quiz preferences settings and they differ from a standard Captivate quiz preferences settings.  A couple of examples:     

All,I am wondering if anyone has had the same issue with the dimensions of a captivate project. I have created an interactive map that IS NOT and Scorm package just interactive and it is not created as a responsive project. I have it set for 1440 x 1080. When i upload it to the LMS (D2L Brightspace) and “add from managed files”. The presentation is much smaller.If i were to take the index page that Captivate creates and put it on a traditional web server, it is sized just fine so I feel it is an LMS issue and not a Captivate one, but my hope was that someone may have encountered something like this and could shed some light on it. Thank You

Maybee I have missunderstod the function of the Failure / Succes button function. When I click the correct button the text box for succes show.When I click the failure button nothing happens. But if I click anywhere outside the two buttons the failure message pops up?Whats up with that?

I have just started using Captivate on my Mac - The main screen (where a slide should be visible) is blank.  Any ideas on how this can be solved? Denis

Hi all, I hope I can ask this in this forum!I am located in Australia. Does anybody know the best site where I can find an Adobe Captivate eLearning freelancer? I am looking for someone who has Adobe Captivate experience to help me with creating a number of eLearning modules for a client. This work is a side project of mine, with all modules needing to be developed by 1 June (eek). As I have a full time job as well, I am needing to bring someone in to help me complete these. I have developed the content for each of the modules and also the template, but need help with the actual development of the modules as I do not have enough time in the day to do it on my own. The modules range in length, and there are about 15 modules all up I need to have completed. Any help would be appreciated!
