I am using numerous layer picker behaviors so that a single puppet can be changed to look like a variety of characters. I'm using nested subgroups, adding them to controls, and grouping similar sets.I have a Body Style Group for my two body styles heavy and average. Inside is a Heavy Color group with layers of that heavy body in different colors. Same for average. I also have a Head Style group (thin head and flat head) with nested subgroups containing each of the skin colors (white, brown, red).I created the Head Group first, added the group and subgroups to Controls. I grouped the controls for skin color. Everything is working fine at this point.I did the same for body style and color. I followed the same procedure. Even redid it after it didn't work. The problem is, when I change the body color slider, it changes the head skin color too. No logical reason why it should do this.I have unique names for all of my behaviors.&nb

Hi, I made a swapset for a hand move but when I trigger it, even though the move happens, the default position remains aswell... instead of vanishing...
Head floats, not attached to body. The head and body groups have no crown turned on. Head has subgroup of 5 different head turns.
I'm a first timer and I need help.I created a puppet in photoshop and imported it into Character Animator. The head attributes all work fine, the eyes, eyelids, brows all are working great. See attached video test. For reasons unknown to me, the head will not attach to the body. I have used the staple tool, but it still will not attach.I'm guessing it's something simple, but I just don't get it. It's possible that I have done something wrong in the original photoshop file.Could someone look at my .psd file if I send it to see if I have created the layers properly?I have a client waiting to see this and I'm getting frustrated.Help please!!!
Hello everyone, I'm having problem on setting up my character to walk right , i have looked at many videos and still cant seem to fix my problem. as you can see his arm is not right, i have try stick tool and nothing. please help
I want to place a clipping mask on a red box that I am going to animate as moving fluid. The next drawing right below the mask is an "empty container". I want the red box to move up and down the white cube as is it is filling the container. Check video below. How can I do this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3Rc_Qnpwr4
Are there any links in which I can watch how all of the behaviors work on Character animator?
I've looked at the rigging and of course as a newbie im puzzled. It shows the range of motion for the eye pupil because it thinks the eyebrows I stuck on the eyeballs are part of the eyeballs. Which is logical. However. When I look at the rigging I see an outline for the range of motion for the pupil (based on the eyelashes) and it's too big. But I don't see any way to modify it. I hate to delete the eyelashes, and I'm too new to figure out how to give them their own layer....
I've spent two days modifying a puppet. I'm a newbie! and I've even rendered out a short movie.I've exported the puppet (I think) though I wasn't sure where to export it to.How do I find that puppet to reuse it in another project?I can find it in the media folders as a psd but it's dimmed and I can't access it.I've really searched the help files and ccan't find an aswer. I could plow through a ton of tutorials and maybe find an answer but I just want to reuse the same puppet in a new project.
Hello. I am wondering if someone can help me with something. This may be very easy to do and I am assuming it is done with key frames but I am new to CA and just getting into key framing and can't figure it out. What I have is this. A monkey character which I want to move very fast around the screen. While I may want to switch to the juming action you showed in your key framing tutorial now that I have seen that, I would still like to figure this one out. I created a puppet which disappears into a cloud of smoke when I hit the "s" key. I have it latching so he does not re-appear till I hit the key again. That all seems to work pretty well. What I can figure out is how to hit the "s" key so he disappears from point A and then have him re-appear at the Point B of my choosing when I hit the "s" key again. Is this possibe? Please help. Thanks,Dave
How do i extend the default time line (5 mins) of the puppet? Please provide step by step, as i cannot find any link, button or slider to make this happen.Thank you.
So I have 3 knobs on my keyboard which by default is to control the lighting of my mechanical gaming keyboard. I am just wondering if I can assign those knobs as a controller for, say, rotation in the transform behavior. Is it possible? Or it's just for midi? Thanks!
Hello, I am in need of some help with an issue I am having in Character Animator. I have added three puppets to my stage. All of them are created in Illustrator. Two of them are scaling fine. I can make them very small if I want to without a problem. The third however seems to get completely disorted and I dont know why. It is like he is getting sucked into one point on the chacater the smaller I make him. Please help.
Sometimes I have brought in an example puppet into a project to see how it works then deleted the puppet when done. But I think some of the files for that puppet remain in my project folder. Is there a listing someplace of the files in a project and what they are used for?I would like to see if I can figure out what unused files can be deleted.
When trying to make a new style I get an error message that reads "Style annotation failed". The majority of the time it happens when I press "Next" after editing the points on the image I want to use, 50% of the time I can make it to step 2, "Edit Regions", but as soon as I click done I get the same "Style annotation failed" message. Attached photo of the message and the image I'm trying to use to create the new style.
Hey, I have one character that I have multiple triggers for eg. I press the 1 key the character changes into thor. I have the alt character setup up so it can fully move independently and is not inside the main "head" or "body" folder of the original, this lets me hide the original...the issue I have come across is when I set the eyes on "thor" they do not move..this goes for the lids also...however the eyes continue to move on the original when I switch back. should I setup a swap for the alt eyes and link them to the same trigger possibly? (just popped into my head as I was typing this..:P)
Just got adobe. When I open Character Animator Avast gives me the following message: "Animator.exe is trying to change or delete the file ODB.SQLITE in your protected document folder" My options are to accept or decline. If I decline, it closes. The fact that Avast is reporting it, causes my uncertainty if I should accept or not. Any feedback or thoughts would be appreciated.
Hello so I have character animator cc 2020 but still have after effects cc 2018. Importing a chproj. file into after effects is proving to be impossible even with both methods of importing. When I import from after effects, it says there’s no scene to pick from(could not import project) and when I drag straight from character animator it displays the error message (86 :: 1). please someone help me with a quick fix.
Hey puppeteers. I am ready to pull out my hair, both irl and my puppet's. I am slowly getting the hang of things in CA. But for the life of me I can't get it's eyeballs to move. I have opened up various Adobe puppets and looked at their trees and rigging. Also the eyes go 'wonky' if the head moves forward and back.I have other issues, but I haven't spent much time on them. I have spend hours and hours trying to get the eyeballs to do anything! I have tried making the pupil range very large, I tried using clipping masks. I would be happy to provide pics, files anything at this point that could help.
Hello. I am having a problem with my characters and I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or if this is just "how it is". What I am working on is for work so I unfortunately cannot share any images or anything so hopefully you all can help me based on this description. Here is the problem I am having. I have created a three view character for a walking cycle triggered by the back and forth keys. All seems to be looking pretty good (thanks to your amazing turtorials) with the exception of one thing. When the character walks I seem to be getting two different arm motions. The front one looks pretty good but the rear one has a completely different bend to it and seems to be swiging at a different rate. The AI artwork of both arms and hands are vitually identical only flipped to the opposite side. One thing to note is the character I am working with is not a humanoid character but more like a bananna shape. So there is no traditional head or neck. As a result, every time I placed
In my timeline, for all puppets, I do not get the option of the BLEND HANDLES in the upper corner (see screens shot). Is there a setting I need to activate?
Basically I built a puppet from scratch with multiple pieces. It has a nutcracker jaw that is covering up teeth underneath and it drops down to expose them. I cannot find any way to have a limit on how far the jaw flaps open. I can set the audio flappyness down so that when the peak is hit it will only open so far, but then it will barely open otherwise. So is there a way I can actually put a limit to how far it can open so I just crank the flappyness up and not worry about it going out of bounds?
