I know in other programs the background color of the program can be changed to make it easier to read the menu options. Does Character CC have that option?
Hi, I'm new to Character so please bare with me. I know you use triggers to make the animation but if I import a shirt jpg into a character can I put triggers on the shirt to make the shirt move with the arm? Title was edited by: Mod
Hi,Every second time if I for example say 'o' the character tells something else. You can't really rely on the mouth showing the corresponding visemes to my speech. It often interpretes something different. My language is german, but does this matter anyway? Any suggestions where this behavior comes from?Andreas
I was working in CA this morning (2.1.1) and suddenly as I was going back to the rig panel from record the scene starting throwing an error, and it's stuck in an error loop.As far as I can tell, the scene is completely useless now and all my time and work is gone. Adobe needs to put the saving process in the hands of the user, not an auto-save without redundancies.Has anyone recovered a scene that went south?Attached is a screenshot of the error it's throwing.Thanks.
Scratching my head! This is a new one... I created a new AE project just to confirm it wasn't a composition or project thing..CH scene loaded into AE. When I render it out, the CH scene is a frozen still frame..Does anyone have any ideas on this one?? 😕😕UPDATE: Tried a completely different CH file and scene and this is not occurring sooo something up with CH file hmm interestingANOTHER UPDATE: I saved the CH file as a new file and the same thing happens. BUT when I export the scene directly from CH to Media Encoder it renders correctly. What the heck??CH scene rendered out of AE glitch - YouTube
I hope this isn't regarded as spam but I want to thank everyone in this forum for helping me work through CH issues! The show I have been creating for a year is launching next Monday and I just wanted to show everyone the work !!LAUNCHING MY CARTOON SERIES! #iHateLivingInApartments - YouTube
HELP!! My character animator is bringing up this error code and None of my files will work! I am not sure how it started but the other day all my files won't load.
Hi, I made my first puppet but the right pupil doesn’t move, the left moved ok, but the right is completely static. Any idea? Thanks a lot.
I'm attempting to start my first Ch project following Adobe's "Creating A Basic Face" tutorial. Ch opens and everything works fine until I try to edit the character in Ps. Photoshop is not opening when I launch a new project and hitting "EDIT" and then "Edit Original" brings up nothing at all. If I understand the tutorial correctly Ps should launch along with Ch, but its not.
I have two backgrounds that I've made into puppets in order to walk in the opposite direction as my character, they are the exact same size, however they move at different speeds when they share the same walk properties. Does anyone know what make for the speed at which a puppet moves? I was under the impression that it was based on size, however that isn't the case based on my project. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This one has bene driving me nuts and feel like I'm missing something obvious. I have a fish character that I want to be constantly floating up and down (never side to side) throughout an entire livestream. It needs to be something that's not a manual dragger because I'll be occupied mashing buttons the whole time. Anyone?
My balloon character has no legs or feet and I want it to have a drop shadow. Is a good approach for the drop shadow to label it a foot? Does it get an anchor?Importantly, one feature would be the closer the balloon is to the ground the larger I'd like the shadow to be, and vice versa when it's further up and away from the floor. Any wisdom on best practices for this would be appreciated. Thanks for your input. I'm building the puppet now.E
Hello all,I am thoroughly confused as how to get physics to act with as much precision as Dave Werner does in his Okay Samuray physics tutorial video. Every time I record a take with a thrown rubber ball, and then export that take to video it never appears in my video the way it appeared in the character animator timeline. If I throw a ball and it bounces, while it might look fine in the character animator timeline, when I export the ball throw to video it is not at all in the same position nor does it act the same way. Does anybody know why?Incredibly frustrating because I’m trying to line up animation and they never lineup. Is there a way to get the physics takes in my Character animator timeline to look the exact same way, with the same behaviours and actions once I export them to Video? Please help. Thank you
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ll2XqrgCso&feature=youtu.beHi there! I'm having some difficulties with my rig in Character Animator. The face is stretching and deforming with the movements, and I'm trying to figure out how to have the face not track left-to-right movements. Ideally, I'm trying to only get the head to rotate up and down on the rig (as in on the pivot), without tracking if I turn my head right or left.Is there any way to make that possible? Thanks!
what is the problem?
Hello!I was working on an after effects project which included some character animator scenes that I'd imported to after effects using Adobe Dynamic Link. One day, when I went to open the after effects project, I received this message:Naturally, I closed after effects and opened up "c-animator HBNG2.chproj" to see what was the problem, and I found that my entire character animator project had been wiped clean. No puppets, no scenes, no nothing. Just gone. So my question is threefold:1. Why did this happen?2. Can I recover my lost character animator project?3. How can I prevent this from happening in the future?Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
I have a replay and trigger setup that is not acting as expected and I can't figure out why, any help would be appreciated. My replay includes a hand swap (to a pointing hand) . It is set to Latch and stop/Sustain. But when the replay is triggered and gets to the sustain point, my puppet switches to the default hand. I assume it is something simple I'm missing, any thoughts? I've included a looping video of the problem. (note the hand switch BEFORE I latch it back to default arm position.)CA problem examplePP on Vimeo
Hello!I am attempting to attach a layer to the "Body" layer as if it were an "Arm" layer (or another sublayer of the "Body" layer) and the problem is, for the purposes of the animation associated with it, I need it to appear above the head layer, but that means that it can only attach to the main layer of the puppet (the next highest layer in the puppets structure). Is there any way to attach a layer to something as if it is it's sub layer? I need the arm animation to behave in sync with this animation layer that is above the head, but to also be affected by the motion tracking of the actor.I'm sorry if this is confusing, I've tried to include the results of my progress in a couple of screenshots:The layers with the animations in them, grouped to the same triggerThe results of those animations played when the actor is leaning to far in either directionAgain, sorry if this is confusing, and thanks in advance!-Paul
Hi,I am creating a character that has happy and sad mouth set but my characters' sad mouth only shows neutral when triggred. (Lip Sync isn't working ) Lip Sync's numbers is one instead of two. How do I change thsese numbers?
Upgrading to the new 2.1 build release did something to the puppet rig. Originally, this character would tilt left and right with a fixed point at his stomach/waist area. No matter what I do, it seems like the puppet is stuck wanting to bend at a point around his upper chest. I've tried removing all fixed points, adding a new fixed point, and nothing seems to affect it.
Hi! I'm relatively new to character animator, and I'm trying to accomplish some very specific things:1) Am I able to pick and choose what sets of cycles auto blink will control and my face will control? I'd like to have motion capture effect the eyebrow movement and mouth shapes while having the blinking occur on an auto cycle, but I can't disable one without effecting the other (when I undefine the right and left blinks in an attempt to remove the feature from the camera, it also takes it away from the auto blink function)2) Can I assign the auto blink to particular eye shapes so that it's only active during the moments that a particular group in a swap set is active? He'll blink (with auto blink on) while an eyeshape that doesn't call for that to happen in active in a swap set. The character that I'm working with doesn't have eyes that have a typical eyeball/pupil dynamic, so it would be nice to have the blink disabled while particular eye shapes are active. Thanks in advance!-Paul
I'm an advanced Premier and After Effects person, but I am brand new to Adobe Character Animator, other than watching some Okay Samarai tutorials. I'm looking for help with building scenes that I can put my characters into. Any good tutorials out there for building scenes either from scratch or from objects? Like I said, I'm brand new to Character Animator.

I have several puppets in a timeline that have dynamic and collide tags. When I export a png sequence of the scene, the puppets are not moving. Also, the puppets do not move when I view the scene via Dynamic Link in After Effects. I tried recording the physics behavior to the timeline in CH, but this does not seem to change anything. The behaviors are set to start immediately. Also, exporting as a mov with alpha results the same. What am I missing here?Thnx...
