I've recently updated to the newest version of Character Animator, I'm now using the non-beta version and I find that when I click play on my scene there is a 3 second delay before it starts to play. In the beta when I clicked play, it played right away, and I was using much larger file sizes than I am for my current project. I was just wondering if theres any way to fix this or if I would need to wait for the next update. Thank you.
I placed Character Animator Scene in Premiere using Dynamic Link. And I placed two kinds of simple clips. It is an image written as Hello World. The clip of 640 x 480 pixels has expanded to 200%.The video output directly from Premiere looks like the following image. However, the video output via Media Encoder looks like the following image.Clip quality expanded to 200% is low.Is there a way to solve this problem?
I haven't been able to nail down a thread that clears this up, though it looks like it's been addressed a lot. My puppet's head distorts a lot when I tilt my head to one side or the other. It feels like there isn't a single pivot point, but rather a few. I see a lot of references around this issue that point to handles, but, honestly, I haven't really figured out a clear and specific explanation of handles, though I'm sure there is one.Martin
Hi everyone, I really hope someone has the answer for this because is driving me crazy, and I have a deadline on monday I have a file with several scenes (12 exactly) that was created in the previous version (beta 6), but now when I try to make some changes to it there's a couple of scenes that cause the program to crash when I try to open them in the timeline. All the other ones are fine and load perfectly. There's no error message, it just freezes until shutting down on its own or until I force quit the program. When opening the program again and loading the file I get this message saying that the file is already open, and I shouldn't open it again unless the program crashed recently with that file.More info (don't know if relevant or not):- The puppets were made in photoshop.- Each scene is about 10 secs long, just one is over 30secs (but that one loads fine).- There's no triggers or animation other than the lipsync and the face capture.- System: Win10 64Bit - Intel(R) Core i7-4700MQ
How do you insert a green background / stage for Ch?I would like to be able to export the puppets animation on a green background so I can then green screen it into Final cut pro and add my own backgrounds.Thanks.
Hello, I only found out about Character Animator, a couple of days ago and thought it lookedamazing, so I made this yesterday, it's an Interview with an Onion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgiPLllmiZ4
I’m doing some kind of a “News“ project using animation characters. Imagine 2 characters talking to eachother in the scene(voice acting recorded from seperate people via internet, for example, 2 people talked through skype for the voice acting). Me and my friend has their own individual characters in the scene and I’m trying to record the voice seperately(Voice recorded for Character-A from Person-A & Character-B from Person-B). Currently, I’m doing the “slow-life work” just by cutting the voices that were recorded and put them for each characters(Apparently, it‘s quite a long work)What’s the correct, easiest, proper or fastest way to do it? If there isn’t any other way, then it’s okay. I’ll just head-on and do it with my current work style.
Hi, I am confused as to why my puppet does not produce "eff" or "oof" sounds. Also, the lip sync appears to be off a bit.Can you advise on ways to fix this? Thanks,Nadiapw: Greg
I have a user that just updated to Character Animator 1.1 full version. OS X Sierra. The Logitech USB camera that is installed is not functioning in CA. The camera constantly flickers and sometimes does not produce video or audio at all. The camera functions as normal in other apps like Skype and Facetime. Tried 2 different USB cameras with same results. No driver updates from Logitech.Any suggestions?
I'm pretty new to Character Animator.. but I've watched almost all the tutorials and recently I ventured to create my own puppet following the tutorials.. I came out with a very frustrating issue.. Somehow the eyes won't move accordingly as it suppose to.One eye will go up and the other down.. I've tried many things to fix this issue but I just can get it to work..Like I mentioned, I use the same structure as it suppose to go, tag everything accordingly.. but I'm not sure if the problem resides in the photoshop file..or the Character Animator puppet..I've use the new "Clipping Mask" for the eyes since the pupils for this particular character are big, so they have to go under quite a bit.for the blinking I created a folder inside the eye folder, but I discovered that this causes an issue with the "MASK" but that I can take care of by putting theblinking outside the eye folder and create a key trigger, but the BIG issue is the eye orientation.. any tips will be appreciated thanks..
I have the pupils of my character in a clipping mask with the eyeballs. I can move them left and right, regardless of the choice of input, but not up and down. Is there a fix? The pupils are rather large and take up about a third of the eyeball. Could this be the problem?

Does anyone have a head-turn puppet for Illustrator, I can only find them for Photoshops.
Hey guys,Sledge315 here, I am a Twitch streamer and I built Leon the Lion for said stream. Everyday I add new features to my stream to up the overall looks and vibe my character gives off. In the process of adding a hotkey of him putting glasses on, he lost the ability to bend his arm. I noticed it halfway through adding in the new effect of the glasses. I always hide other layers in groups when I have my hotkeys set. this transition is pretty complex and I think I might've bugged it somewhere along the way without realizing it. I am also working in the beta still and that might be creating the issues as well. My windows PC hasn't allowed me to open the actual Character Animator CC for whatever reason, so I can't work within it. Anyways, the draggable handle and stick tools for arm and forearm are all as I left them, but when I move his hand, its like the elbow locks up and I can't get his arm to bend. The opposite arm still works fine. Also, the standard hand I have in place when no h
I have a character with two angel wings, each wing is a separate group, attached to the body. But when I drag one wing it also drags the other. Why is it doing that?!
I am looking for a blank puppet template to make my life easier. However, there is only the basic blank puppet that does not include head and body turns. I know that many of the puppets already created have a lot of these layers but it can be confusing trying to figure out what is necessary and what isn't with all of the special key actions that they have. If someone could link me an illustrator or photoshop blank template that would be incredibly convenient, a list of the necessary layers would be great too. Thanks!
I'm building my first puppet and can't seem to get my arms to attach to the torso properlynow that the Staple tool is gone. When I select this left arm, for instance, and drag the point upto intersect with the Torso layer, I can't get it to turn "Green" and attach. Please help! Love your program!
can i upload my own character that i drew on paper with pen/pencil?
I tried importing 3 Character Animator scenes with different Puppets and Audio in After Effects using Dynamic Link.It was no problem with scene 1, but the puppet in scene 2 stuttered and scene 3 had no audio at all.In Character Animator itself the audio is normal. I tried rendering it out of AE to see if there are any preview issues but the audio still didn't work properly. Also I checked the settings of the audio files and they all seem the same.Importing them to a new After Effects Project was not successful as well.Has anyone a solution? Might this be a Bug?Edit: When I open the AE project I get this warning: " Audio conforming failed check media cache preferences"
Hello,I want to have two puppets in my scene. And I have make separate wav filesfor each one of them. (they are the two cookies that you can download offthe internet.) I set it up where one cookie would say something and then crumbleand the female cookie would say something like "That's the way the cookie crumbles"But I cannot figure out how to have them say their lines separate. (they both saythe first wav file and the second wav file works correctly) I want just the male cookieto say the first line which is "Be careful how you pick me up"Thanks
Hi,Character Animator runs buttery smooth on the Beta version but in the new release (CC 2018) the puppet in the scene responds with a delay on the webcam and the movement is all jittery. I'm still using the Beta version as the jittering prevents making minute adjustments to performance. I'm running Ch on the following:MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) with TouchBar2.9 GHz Intel Core i716 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3Radeon Pro 460 4096 MBIntel HD Graphics 530 1536 MBmacOS Sierra : 10.12.6 I've run into similar problems when I first installed After Effects when I first purchased the MBP but after a few months, the problem went away. Probably due to an update. As I was writing this and running back and forth between Character Animator and Safari, I figured out the problem but I'm going to post this anyway for those who run into a similar issue. The solution is below
I have a Scarlett 2i2 hooked up to my iMac which is working perfectly fine in Garageband and shows a decent amount of volume in Sound input/output settings. However in Ch it shows no input at all.In preferences it shows the correct device in all the boxes. Can anyone suggest what I need to do?thank you.
Hello everyone, I have been working on a character that keeps getting more complexe day after day but everytime I rig it again, because I have to change my hierarchy I have been encoutering trouble to make the body, hands, heaf and feets to work properly.Right now my character body moves well but the feets and hands are getting bigger if i put my head on the right side of the webcam and smaller if i put it on the left.If iget closer to the camera my hans and feets get smaller and they get bigger when i move far away from the webcam.I tried to put fixed handle on different group but it doesn't seems to work. Here is my hierarchy:+Character +Frontal Head Body +Left Arm BodyShapes &nb
Hi,the wave-form feature is a great addition to CH, making it easier to line up multiple tracks .... if it works, that is.Maybe I'm missing something, but as I zoom in and out of the timeline the wave form will only show up on some levels and disappear on others. There appears no clear logic on when it does and unfortunately for me it never works on both tracks needing alignment when zoomed in to a level where alignment is actually achievable.Any thoughts?Just me?Bug?
I'm liking the new features in CC2018, and see much improved workflows, etc., so thanks, 1st of all, for the work your folks put into this great product!I'm now trying to set up my characters' head turns, but am having no luck with Triggers/Swap Sets.I've got individual groups of 1/4 + 1/2 turns for each side (right and left), and of course a "frontal" group - all inside my "Head" group. When I drag the "1/4 Left" group into my "Triggers" section, it sets up the group as Dave shows in the Tut.When I add triggers to each layer in the group, I get no response in the scene. Please help ....
