In the intro is andrew he can walk and do most of the things i want a puppet to do. Can i edit his appearance in Photoshop , rename him and use him while keeping his behaviors and other settings?
Hi,I am working on a project where I am getting help from an illustrator to do all of the artwork (characters and backgrounds) in Illustrator for our team. Since Character Animator is new both for me and the illustrator, I am sending back comments and edits on some of the illustrator files to the illustrator which she then merges with any other edits she has done and sends them back. I copy and replace the .AI files in my project folder. This has not been a problem for me yet, but I sense it will force re-rigging in the future?Should we start exporting .puppet files back and forth? And what is the optimal workflow here? Will I have to delete old puppets from a scene and then replace them and re-do recordings? Thanks!
i'm a beginner. use demo in the character animator. but i found can just use key "b" for trigger blink action, is anyone know how to define my own trigger keys for actor? such as kick a leg or wave hands?
Every year i do christmas lights for a charity. Im trying to get into the video projection and want a santa puppet made that can walk back and forth, talk and possible other cool things to make it more realistic. Im still learning this software out. Right now im using after effects and premiere to edit my house and i think the kids would love this. Time is an issue because it takes so long to map the house. Im trying to skip a step. Let me know what cost would be thx.
HiI'm working on a character in Character Animator and I've created 7 groups of head turns (Right profile, right quarter, frontal, left quarter, left profile, up and down). When I trigger them either with keys or movement which ever 3 layers arranged at the top of the head group won't attach to the body when I tilt the head to the sides, the other 4 work correctly. Also I notice when I turn on puppet mesh in the puppet panel it doesn't show the whole puppet but when I go to my scene it does. I've watched a lot of tutorials, compared my Photoshop file and the Character Animator file to the files of Wilk and read every bug report I can find online. Basically I've tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to fix the problem. I would really appreciate some help with this issue. I zipped up the project so you can take a look at it. Ps. I also feel like the body is moving around a bit strangely (I don't know, maybe that's just me).Link: Dobbie The Dinosaur Project.zip - Google Drive
Still on Eyes...I've been looking at the Tags... I understand that the Tag links each Puppet Group, or Layer to Character Animator programming. Most of the Tag names used are self explanatory ie, Head, Left Blink, Mouth Group and Nose etc, but could someone clarify the Size Tags?I think the Rollovers showing which Behavior relates to each Tag, is a very good idea, but would it be possible to refine this to the actual options within the Behavior?
I'm just working on the eyes... getting to know what impacts on them...But, I'm now stuck with dreamy eyes.. if you watch the video, you'll notice that I reset the pose... but the eyes start wondering up... even though I keep a fix position!?It could be something I'm doing, but the up and down movement of the eyes is certainly more noticeable .. It seems that the Tracking is more in tune with the up and down movement of the eyes, than the side to side? Is there any adjustment for up and down and the right to left axis?I've tried making several adjustments... but even if I just stare straight... the eyes start moving up... any suggestions welcome?
This is no great find, or something that will change everything.... it was just one of those things that made me go.. Oh! It doesn't take much.. this days! I created the 3 basic layers for the each eyes, Blink, Pupil and Eyeball... as I started drawing each... starting with Eyeball... I jumped over to Ch to see how it was looking and reacting... and it was then I noticed... that the eye was blinking. When I thought about it, it was pretty obvious what was happening; when I was detected blinking.. Ch turned off.. the Pupil and Eyeball Layers and showed whatever was in the Blink Layer... as there wasn't anything in there... it just showed the Face-background.. As I said.. not major... but helps you get your head around what's going on... well in my head anyway!
I'm still working on the Eyes, particularly about how the Facial Tracking/Tracking Dots interact with the movement of them.I use an iMac... and did have the screen set vertical..Set like this the camera, which set at the top of the screen, pointed at my upper forehead. This didn't help when I was trying to set the camera in Character Animator.I then adjust the slope of the screen, so that the camera was pointing above my head and I was more central in the Camera & Monitor Panel. This certainly helped with the eye tracking.I had noticed that when i looked down, and my eyes were tracked, the pupils of the puppet's eyes would start to move down, but when they reached about have way down the eyeball, the Blink action would be triggered. However, when I changed the angle of the monitor/camera.. this didn't happen nearly as often. All I'm suggesting is that when you open Character Animator, you adjust the camera, so when you are sitting the your normal position, the image of you
I've been watching my nurse trying to make these sounds for the last half-hour..Ah D Ee F L M Ch R S Uh and W-Oo ... it was so funny! She arrived when I was working with Dave's TemplateHead character and trying to get the mouth to produce the shapes as I made the corresponding sounds..She thought I looked and sounded hilarious... so when she had stopped rolling around on the floor... I suggested she had a go! Now that was funny! We put a light in front and exaggerated the mouth movements, but we couldn't do it! Although it looked as though all the mouth shapes were tagged, only certain one seemed to appear! So, I was wondering... has anyone else tried this? It's good for a laugh if nothing else!
Internal error code: (1033274218:408+516) libgit2 error -1 (14/Failed to insert entry. Invalid name for a tree entry -.) returned from git_treebuilder_insert(NULL,treebuilderP.get(), (char*)node_nameZ,&oid, mode)I was going back and forth between Ai and Ch without a problem. When the error message first showed, I deleted my project and scene. When that didn't work, I uninstalled Ch and Ae. But the problem persists.Any advice on how to go forward from this?PS: It seems to be specific to a particular Ai file that I'm trying to import (as once freshly opened, the app allows me to download project files from the forum). Perhaps I broke something in the source Ai file. I feel like my naming and hierarchy is sound. I started with a pre-made file from Dave Werner (Okay Samurai), made a huge number of changes, but only had a problem at the end.
First let me say... I'm not an Animator, but I do want to create an animated character for a project I'm working on... and that is how I arrived here!I tried several possible animation apps that I thought may help, but all were lacking, either in flexibility, potential, or stability... some crashed continually! I then found Character Animator and it's different take of using Face Tracking, plus my familiarity with Adobe products, made this my firm favorite to achieve my goal of creating an animated character.I knew this would be a two part process... just like any production... The 1st Step. Create the Characters.... and as this is an animation.. the character is a Puppet. The 2nd Step... do the Scene with the Puppet in it.However, when I went into Character Animator, I seemed to be in both environments... Creating the Puppet and the Scene; I found I was jumping from both and not really sure what was interacting on what... as an example:This two look similar... I think you'd agree, bu
Was wandering if there is a way to use triggers when your using other programs. The camera works but triggers do not. You could even have a live mode or broadcasting mode that way only trigger like hot keys would work for live streams.
I've been trying to improve the eye tracking... it always seemed to be hit-and-miss. It would be ok one minute and then it would change. I tried various options and after making many adjustments to the Behaviours, I still couldn't get a constant and satisfactory result.I read the User Manual and found this advice... move closer to the camera and ensure there is good lightAlthough this is good advice, it may not always be the best option!?I've been a keen photographer for quite awhile and the improvement in technology in this field has been staggering! All digital camera and phone cameras, have built in Zoom and Exposure facilities. So, if there was a Zoom and Exposure option as part of the Camera feature in Ch... you could reverse the suggestion of, getting closer and shinning a light in your face, and zoom in and adjust the exposure... from my initial test, I think this would help greatly. When you think that Adobe's development has been/is based on image manipulation, then you c
I've been looking at how the tracking and puppet eye movements are synced.Having took many photos and video of myself pulling faces, there was one thing that I noticed all the time, either my eyes were wonky, or the Tracking Dot were off!?Often... I found that the Puppet's Left Eye, did not perform like the Right Eye. Looking at the above image I assume that this was due to where the tracking dot was misaligned!?Would it be possible to provide the option to click on the Pupil Tracking Dot and reset it manually?
I'm still playing with the Blinking thing... adjust the Behavior that impacts on it...Eyelid Strength.. as I increase the Strength.. the more Sensitive the tracking seems to be to my blinking, or is it? Sometimes I think it is more sensitive and then I think it doesn't seem to make much difference..so my question is:Taking the Eye Strength as an example...When the Strength setting is set at a lower %... does this mean that the camera/tracking dots are less sensitive to my facial movements and the higher the % goes, the more sensitive the Tracking Dots are to movements? It's just me trying to get my head around it again... it just seems that it's all about how sensitive the Puppet is to me!?
Hey dear guys, after i asked here: Re: Where should i do my Characters for Adobe Animate ? for some Questions and got answers, now i have a few more Questions about AE:1.As you can see here: I made a Character on Adobe Animate (Based on Homer Simpson from the serie the Simpsons, just as a Test to see if i get the best 2D results with Adobe animate because i am thinking to buy Adobe Animate and i want to start to making my own Series on YT,)Well, my Question is: Do you guys recommend me to use AE for Character Animator ? i have a Camera ready (Perfect Quality) for it.2.Would i save time after i made my Characters, and would animate theyr Faces trough Character Animator ?3. If i use Character Animator: would i be able still, to move my Character ? like the legs, arms etc. of my Character ?If yes: how ? so i could animate a own created Character (Not drawed it yet, first i buy adobe, then i draw my whole "Story" / characters ^^) trough Character Animator in AE, and after beeing done w
Hi!I've been trying to learn rigging in Adobe Character animator CC, getting it right is a bit difficult. So here are my suggestions for what could make the prosess better:1. Color coded deformation meshes. (How am I supposed to know what mesh belongs to what layer?, when it's not color coded?)I used hidden Meshes in additional layers, as attachment nodes to get both dragger, hinged and welded behavior on art layers.2. How are other animators supposed to know where I placed my manipulation handles if there is no way to display them on the puppet?3. Character animator is difficult to figure out because when you try to see your rigging architecture there is no way to display the entire tree.(you can only see from one branch of the architecture to the other) Can we get some kind of Node overview for debugging?4. When I move the body, the head needs to be attached to the body.. from here, how do I get the body to follow the head when it moves?Stapleing and Attaching the head to the "body dr
1. I'm profoundly deaf... when I talk.. my voice is either too low, too loud or indistinguishable.. This isn't a great problem for me... only others and Ch.. It seems that although there are obvious tracking dots around the mouth, they don't seem to interact with the puppet, unless there is sound. I've checked the Behaviours, but I think I must be missing something... Can someone please help.... I want to make the Visemes appear from my face/mouth movements? 2. To hear... I have the output directly plugged into my implant.... sounds strange I know.. but it works.. I feel sound, more than hear it... Anyway... back to my second question; When I go to record a second piece... like just the drag-gable hand movements.... I don't hear the previous recording, I only see the actions... this is quite difficult when you are trying to match words etc!? How do I get to hear the previous recording, while recording the seconded track on top? I hope that makes sense!?
Is there a difference between the function of these boxes?
I had a good weekend watching... Character Animator Live!Although I get a lot from all the videos that Dave produces... Tips and Tricks I found the Live sessions great! It added something else! It was obvious that people from all over the place were watching, so I wanted to be in on this, but can't find anything!?Having looked, it seems that there are only 3 of these Live session... Jan, Feb and March... It seemed that they started really well... 18,500, 16,000 and then 6,500 viewers.... or I should say that's how many people viewed the YouTube videos. So it is obviously got potentialIt was a bit sad when Dave mentions only Two viewers at the start of Live 3!?I got so much from these and seeing the fantastic work of others being used was exceptional!Live 2.. was a bit weird.. looked like Dave had decided to do this live broadcast from a refuge center and get a few down-and-outs to sit in front of laptops...haveing been promised food at the end! They didn't seem to have an
I'm new to Character Animator... and as such one of the first things I did was join the Forum. It seemed obvious that this would be the place to find lots of like minded people and those more in the know about Ch.The first thing I noticed was that it was an empty and quiet place! I'm live in England and the American side is some 7 hours, or there abouts, behind... so now although it is just gone 10 here, it is about 3 in the morning there .. so lots of snoring going on! I did think there would be other!I asked a question, or two, and Dave, or Wombat replied and although I saw more views... nobody else spoke to me.... I started to think that I had landed at Ch at it's creation and it was just we few.... band-of-brothers...(sisters too) But, I don't think that is true... I think it is just in a lull at the moment... and maybe.. as others become aware of the potential of this great product... the lights will start lighting up all around the World! Maybe!? Don't let it go people!PS.
This might sound strange, but how do these sound?Could someone record the sound of each, or write some words to demonstrate the individual sounds... please?
I've been working my way slowly through the written support files and a few things are obvious! The documents are written by, and for, those that already know about animation, so this leads me to the question, to whom is Ch intended for?If you wanted to study Animation, I assume you would look at using and developing your skills with Animator CC. Ch on the other hand, seems like it's intended as a program to get people dabbling in animation... by this I don't mean superficially, but in a way that is accessible by the everyday body, like me!? Those that want to use Animation within a project that they are working on, but don't want to spend weeks, months, or years learning the ins and outs of another program to achieve it.Most skills and jobs have their own language built it and the more you develop those skills, or remain in a particular job, the more that language becomes apart of your daily routine. It is at this point that when a person starts to teach, explain, or describe tha
Hi all, The feels like quite a basic question, but I'm having a lot of trouble with it.In the new Beta Character Animator, how do I add a nutcracker jaw to a character? Many thanks, R.
