I got a Kobo because some ebooks won't open on my Sony because of the size of some chapters. The Sony Reader app is a much better app. Trying to get a library book onto the Kobo seems like an exercise in futility. I keep getting a message that my device isn't authorized. Sometimes I can load a book from ADE onto the Kobo with no problems and sometimes I can't. I have reinstalled ADE, tried using a differnt USB port, plugged in the reader and then open and downloading the book. I can open the book on the computerwhen I click on the device in the app. I have tried the device authorization but that fails, too. I am so frustrated by how user unfriendly and inconsistent ADE is. The Sony Reader app is as easy as this is difficult.
I was advised to install ADE 4.5 onto my Windows desktop by the University Reader Student Shop prior to purchasing some study documents. These loaded onto the desktop without problem. The 'Getting Started' instructions advised that these would automatically be available for use on another device. I then downloaded ADE 4.5 onto my Windows laptop. I have however been unable to access anything on the laptop (apart from the initial "Getting Started" file), The documents were downloaded using the prescribed system. Both computers are equipped with Windows 10.Following instructions from the Adobe Chat room I closed down the machines and restarted them in sequence but to no avail. Can anyone help ?ThanksPhilip

Hi!I would like to ask a few questions about how Adobe Digital Editions works.Firstly, if I buy an ebook (DRM) and download the ACSM file without having Adobe Digital Editions in the computer or without having created/logged in the Adobe ID, will I be able to, after downloading ADE, activate an Adobe ID and have access to the ebooks in different devices, or will the ebook be just authorized in one device? Then, I would also like to know if, for some reason I change my devices more often, because I change computers, or a device is broken, I will be capable of de-authorize the older one and access my ebooks in a new computer/smartphone in a easy way. Finally, can ACSM files and Epubs me moved (or copied) to a USB pen, for example? In case, I loose my device it would be useful to have access to my ebooks.Thank you very much for your help.Jorge
I have had 5 emails over the last 15 years. I know for sure that I have purchased books on 2 of them. My collection of books works (mostly) on all my devices. Mac, iPad and Sony reader. I started out with the Sony store which shifted to Kobo. 1 of my devices is authorized to my current email account, the other 2 are authorized to my last email account. Except for recent purchases through Kobo, I cant say for certain where the books were purchased. I think the Sony store may have directed us to particular vendors but managed the payment and media download. So I have all these devices working all but one of my books. That one says it is authorized to a different user. I haven't used a reader for a long time so my guess would be the last two emails are relevant and maybe a third since I have one book that wont work anywhere. I have two questions:How is it that substantially all of my content works on all devices even tho
Can someone guide me on how one can save changes made to an eBook(highlights, added notes) on Adobe Digital Editions. My changes disappear as soon as Adobe is closed. Thanks.
I learned ADE functions as an impediment to transferring ebooks onto e-reader devices. I have attempted for months to make use of Overdrive but it has been a worthless exercise because books do not show up in ADE. Despite following the usually useless help advice of installing, reinstalling, deauthorizing, reauthorizing, renaming files etc. It fails to work. Cloud library works great. I do not have to find my books in ADE to transfer them to my nook. Is the problem with Adobe or Overdrive? The books download as an ACSM file. I can read them on my PC. I cannot move them to ADE. I get a message the the E Lic already fulfilled by another user. I have no idea what that means. ADE and Overdrive are authorized by me only and have the same usernames and passwords. I must be missing something. what is it?
Hi, does anyone knows how to export your notes on an Ipad? I have to reset my Ipad and can't sync my book into my macbook.Thank you.
Merci
I have library cards courtesy of a couple of public libraries that make use of Overdrive. I word prefer to make A.D.E. my go-to ebook reader (using a Windows laptop.) Adobe is far worse than non-intuitive. For a company with millions of users, the website seems written by and for PhD's in Computer Science. Just "authorizing" - which I think means getting and registering an Adobe ID - seems more difficult than many routine tasks "in real life." (or has A.D.E. become a "for paying customers only" piece of software?) I have googled - and I'm proficient at that - for over an hour and have not yet found the "trick." Hope someone can guide/advise/etc. THANKS.

I purchased an Adobe Digital Editions ePub e-book in 2017. Since then, I've changed Adobe accounts (due to work) and had to reinstall Windows on my laptop. I tried to open the book again recently. I've done what I can to track down Adobe logins for every email address I have, and keep getting the same error message when I enter them: the book is associated with a different Vendor ID. On this help page of Adobe's website, it says, "If you have multiple email accounts or changed your email address since you originally purchased, try using your other or previous email address. If you are unclear which email address is associated with your current membership or purchased product, contact us." I contacted Adobe multiple times and was told to post my issue here and to wait for a response. Is there some way to figure out which Vendor ID is associated with this book? Or a way to reset the book file somehow? I have Windows 10.
Hello, I have a Kobo Touch, and recently I updated the Kobo software of my device. Today I tried to import some ebooks that I took from the library from Adobe Digital Editions on my pc to the ebook reader. I did the procedure as per usual, but once I disconnected the ereader I couldn't find the books imported from ADE anywhere. I tried to import other books that weren't from the library and they are not visible as well on the ereader. I tried to download the most recent version of ADE and also deauthorize and reauthorize the device, but it still doesn't work, and the books that seem to be imported on my Kobo from the software on my computer, are not actually to be found on my ereader once I disconnect it. There are no error codes or anything (like it was happening in the past), the book is just not visible anywhere on my device... as if I never transferred it.
A few days ago I downloaded some eBooks from my library. When I went to open ADE 3.0 I got a box with the message "Digital Editions 3.0 has stopped working. Checking for an updated version" with a green status bar. It flashes on my screen for a couple of seconds, then goes away. NOTHING HAPPENS AFTER!I went to the Adobe site and downloaded ADE 4.5. I can install it, but when I go to open the program, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LOADS UP!Frustrated, I un-installed version 4.5 and re-installed 3.0, where I continue to receive the "Checking for updated version ..." box.I cannot get access to any of my eBooks now, as none of the softwrare versions will open.Adobe has been NO USE in this matter - they just give the basic "uninstall and reinstall" answer.I have a Windows 7 Home Edition machine - Service Pack 1.Installing the software is not the problem; running the software is the problem! I do not know if this is something that others have experienced?Any help is appreciated.
I need to return a book to the library but I can't find it in Adobe digital edition. Any advice?
Hope someone can help with this one. I'm a public librarian and this problem is on behalf of an elderly customer who borrows Overdrive e-books through out library, downloads into Digital Editions and then transfers them across to a Kobo e-reader. I've taken this problem to Overdrive and they won't help. So this forum is the last chance for her to get this working. I'll summarise briefly: Customer has a PC running Windows 10. She had a larger hard drive installed, and cloned all the contents of the old drive onto the new drive. This has caused authorisation issues with Digital Editions that look as though they can be fixed by simply de-authorizing and then re-authorizing ADE and the e-reader.Digital Editions is asking for Adobe ID and password before it will de-authorize.Customer couldn't remember her password so she reset it.Digital Editions refuses to recognise the new password. It looks as though she has to de-authorize with the old password (which she doesn't know). So we're stuc

I have been trying to deauthorize my Adobe Digital Editions account for about 24 hours (I need to authorize a different username). Each time I make it through the dialogue, the error message "Unable to Erase Authorization. Please try again after some time" pops up. Why might this error be occurring? I have also tried uninstalling the program, but it keeps me authorized with the original username.
Hello everyone, I am trying to authorize Adobe digital editions with my adobe ID but it says: The vendor account you entered is not associated with the item you are trying to open. I've already authorized the computer with success but when I try to click on the book and open it, it asks again for authorization, and then it doesn't work. I've tried to de-authorize and authorize it again but doesn't work. Can somebody help me, please? Thank you in advance. Celeste
