Digital Editions

Greetings.Am running ADE 4.5.7.179634 on a Toshiba Qosmio X70-B-102 with Windows 8.1 (x64) updated to KB2976978. ADE runs fine with all my EPUBs and PDFs, except for one (1) single Epub: Project Gutenberg's pg56550-images.epub (The Popol Vuh by Lewis Spence).I can load the book into ADE and it will show me the TOC and Cover. However, when I click on a TOC-entry an Error-box appears, telling me that ADE's stopped working etc and the program terminates. Same thing when I try to simply turn pages. I never get beyond the Cover: ADE stops working.This is really the ONLY entry in my library that causes problems. But when I take a look at it with a metadata-editor like SIGIL 0.9.8, I cannot find any problem.Anybody any suggestions?Willem Vermeer

I can't find any way of downloading a book I allegedly "borrowed."  I have no idea if the book is REALLY still there, but since right after it was valid, through to now, several hours later, I still get the SAME error message, with no explanation, no workaround, not even a link to fix it:Unable to download Error getting License, License Server Communication Problem: E_ADEPT_DATABASE OKWhat is E_ADEPT_DATABASE?  Where do I find a description of a workaround for this error?  I see plenty of posts about the PROBLEM, but not a single resolution, at least, not one that works.  I did find a link to a workaround, but I tried it and it STILL doesn't work.HOW do I download a borrowed book?  I tried tech support, but even THEY have no idea what E_ADEPT_DATABASE is.    Which isn't very impressive.  If this software does not work, where do I find software that DOES work and IS supported by people who are knowledgeable about how to use it?

I installed Adobe Digital Editions on my smartphone and on my PC. I logged in with the same ID, but the content isn't the same. I think the devices aren't correctly connected, so that I can't see the same ebooks. What can I do to see the same content on my smartphone and on my PC?

After having to deauthorize and authorize my kobo aura many times,  I received a message telling me I had too many devices on my account and so started a chat.  Eventually, the agent understood that i only had one kobo aura that i had to keep reauthrorizing and they fixed my account so i could activate again.When I try to download books now, i get another message telling me :  This book is protected by ADRM, because you previously deauthroized your eReader, you need to reimport the book using ADE.I have tried downloading new books and get the same message, even though they were borrowed from library and downloaded after i reauthorized my eReader.

I lost all of my highlights around page 90 in a book I was reading in Adobe Digital Editions on my IPad. It is a textbook for university, so if I can’t recover my highlights I have to start over.Can this be resolved?

Hi, can anyone help please? I have 'lost' the books I purchased from my Digital Editions library. My libraries are now empty...how can I find the books again? I think this may have happened when I was forced to change my password after Adobe had a data breach in 2013, but I'm not sure. Any help appreciated.

Hello! I have bought a book from Elsevier.com several days ago, managed to open it on my desktop without associating it to my Adobe ID (just authorised id on the computer), then today tried to have it on my laptop with no success. Thought that would be a good idea (no way!) to de-authorise Adobe Digital editions on my desktop and since then I cannot even open the file. Contacted Adobe support, unistalled Adobe Digital Editions, removed any registry entries as specified but with no luck, the error from title still appears (Unable to download / Error getting licence / License server communication problem / E_LIC_ALREADY FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER).Any possible solutions?Thank you!

ADE suddenly closed down and after reopening all my recent higlights and comments were lost.How can this be? How do I recover them?

Immensely frustrating waste of time: ADE 4.5.7 (32-bit) was working perfectly yesterday but won't load today. I had to do a forced shutdown last night, but no other programs are affected.When I try to open ADE, Windows' Task Manager shows it running in a background process but nothing of ADE appears on the screen. I've rebooted and re-installed (from a freshly downloaded installer). No success.The forums show lots of other similar issues but no consistent solution. One person said the problem just went away by itself!

I live in a jurisdiction where I can not legally get a new computer with Windows legally installed on it. The only windows machines I have access to possibly acquire are recycled government machines that have XP on them in a language I do not understand. Even if I attempt to legally purchase windows from Microsoft's website, MS knows what country I'm in and refuses to sell me windows in English. I can not fly to the United States just to buy a computer with Windows in English just to install Adobe Digital Editions and get access to the ebooks I legally purchased.  I have to use Linux or no computer at all. I have attempted to use ADE under wine but it seems Adobe has done everything they can to intentionally break the program and prevent it from working.  Requiring ADE is the equivalent burning books and denying people the ability to read the items they have paid their hard earned money for. I keep getting an error message saying "license server command problem Egoogle limit reached has anyone had this problem?

I just got a new computer, and am trying to manage the e-books I have checked out from my public library. I authorized my computer through ADE, but when I right-click and choose the Return Borrowed Item option,l I get an error message saying that I need to authorize my computer first. I am beyond frustrated -- I have erased and re-done the authorization, uninstalled and re-installed ADE, rebooted... nothing fixes it.

CAN NOT GET THIS TO WORK, I HAVE DELETED AND DOWNLOADED A NUMBER OF TIMES, BUT STILL GET ERROR "CHECK ACTIVATION".SENT TO ADOBE AND THEIR ANSWER WAS THEY DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PRODUCT ANYMORE.  DOES ANYONE HAVE A SOLUTION OR IS THERE ANOTHER PRODUCT I CAN USE TO DOWNLOAD EBOOKS FROM MY LOCAL LIBRARY

I installed ADE 2 weeks ago it worked great then yesterday I would not open after several trysI uninstalled it, used cc cleaner to clean up all registry items related to ADE. I reinstalled 4 times and still willnot load once installed.  Using WIN 10, Avast Internet Security, and spybot.  So has anyone had this trouble and did you resolve it and get the damn thing working?

In search of the older version 4.5.6 of Adobe Digital Editions, but it cannot be found. Is it still somewhere out there?Why do I want to get it?The AD 4.5.7 version just causes troubles. It crashes almost every time when I work with it: downloading an e-book, deleting an e-book, copying an e-book to my e-book reader, or just when I stare on the monitor.Also, it looses the authentication every now and then. I lent an e-book from my library, want to download it. After the usual crash I copy the e-book to the reader. And it cannot be opened, because I've no right to do it. So I delete the e-book, restart the computer after the ADE crash, delete the authentication, restart the computer after the second crash, delete the authentication once again, re-authenticate again, download the e-book once again. Sometimes it works. So I add another e-book. All is well. At last, this is what I hope.After a few days the authentication is gone, ADE crashes again and I have to delete, restart, and re-auth

I have downloaded Adobe Digital Editions v2.0.  I have my computer authorized.  Whenever I try to download a book from the local library, it states   "Error! Check Activation."  I contacted customer support, they suggested that I remove the program and then reinstall, which I did....Same error.  I can not seem to find anything on the website relating to this issue.

the problem occurs when after a book is opened(only in some cases) and I highlight a word or words and right click my mouse to copy the word or words and click on copy, adobe digital edition stops working. any one know what's going on?
