In the render queue File Name and Location Template dialog, would it be possible for the "Add Property" dropdown function to insert the selected property at the cursor position and position the cursor at the end of the inserted property? The current behaviour is the property is inserted at the start of the Template string. For example, if I build out a template by inserting Hour-Minutes-Seconds, I have to rearrange the Template which now reads [timeSecs]-[timeMins]-[timeHour] ... etc. I realise it's fairy low-stakes, but it would be a quality of life improvement for this interface. One possible downside I can foresee is accidental insertion of a property within the square brackets of another property, but I'll take that downside.
Overall, the 'Properties' window was a good addition to my workflow as it condenses parameters that are normally spread across different panels into one place. However, rather than being redundant copies of other panels, 'Properties' has its own version of them that are slightly different enough to be annoying and confusing. For example, I was having a difficult time figuring out why a stroke on a font wasn't blending the same as another layer with the exact same parameters. It turns out that faux bold was turned on but that wasn't immediately obvious because the 'Text' sections of the 'Properties' panel is different enough from the standalone 'Character' panel that faux bold and faux italic are hidden in a dropdown menu instead of being selectable buttons like in the 'Character' panel. I'm all for having fewer panels open and for appropriate layer parameters and variables appearing in one easy place, I just don't understand why what appears in the 'Properties' panel would lo
I am writing to request an enhancement to Adobe After Effects' scripting capabilities, specifically a more efficient way to ascertain the number of rows in a CSV file using the dataValue method. Presently, I am able to get a count of rows using the layer("Data")("Number of Rows") method. However, this is not practical for my use case as my projects often involve up to 50 different CSV files. Integrating all these CSV files into my composition unnecessarily complicates and bloats the setup. It would be far more convenient if there was a way to directly access the number of rows using the footage("data.csv").dataValue method. The necessity for this feature stems from the need to iterate through a column of data for sorting purposes. While I have developed a workaround to address this issue in the meantime, it lacks the fluidity and full automation that a built-in feature could provide. I believe that Adobe already has the backend data analysis capabilities to facilitate this fe
In complex projects, I like to cut 'm in pieces - several Ae Project files that make a project.Once In a while, I need Compositions from Ae Project B in Ae Project A In stead of importing it (and losing a link to the original Comps), it would be nice if Project B could be referenced to - imported, but not editable, and updated when Project B is changed, just like a .psd or .ai is imported and can be updated (or an x-ref in Cinema4d).
it's on the tin. Both are industry standard, I don't see any deep image implementation at all (I may be dumb and looking in the wrong spot), and EXR is basically an entire menu set for importang one image sequence, and often poorly if properly at all. Sure multilayer EXR is a pain at times, but the current integration is jarring, atypical of adobe, and seems to have gotten no updates or support for the better part of a decade at least. On the other hand, just rewriting the software from the ground up with modern standards would also solve this. it's a crying shame unreal can manage global illumination and tesselation of millions of verts, then instance those, all at over 60FPS, but on the same hardware, AE runs your computer at max, struggling to spit out some text and shapes with motion blur.
I've only recently discovered output modules and tokens, and they really improved my rendering experience. However, one feature that is clearly missing is the ability to add incrementing numbers to file names automatically. That way it would be possible to quickly render new outputs for revisions without having to add version numbers manually.
COME ON! Who uses less then 16 labels? I have projects where 64+ labels (Or maybe even the ability to just add as many or as few as we want ?!?!?!??!) would be absolutely Ideal. There isn't a single plugin that can solve this problem. and no, the answer is not always just to add more precomps! INCREASE THE NUMBER OF LABELS AFTER EFFECTS!!!! COME ON MAN THIS IS INSANE WHY LOCK US BEHIND 16 ????
Would be great to animate by Paragraph too!
1/ If Media Encoder is not installed,Composition > Add to AME Queue option should be grayed outbecause if you accidentally click on it, it generates 2 error messages. 2/ A new version is availableIf you click the Update button, it opens Creative Cloud Desktop, and then you can update the software. The only problem in Creative Cloud Desktop is that when you click on update, you are prompted to close After Effects to start the update. So, you have to exit Creative Cloud Desktop, return to After Effects to close it,and then go back to Creative Cloud Desktop to start the update. When you click the Update button from After Effects, you should be prompted to close After Effects automatically, and then be redirected to Creative Cloud Desktop to perform the update.
For the type of work I do in AE I find it extremely annoying and disorienting that each comp is stored with it's own settings when it comes to column widths and which ones are enabled. When using OCIO it is also very impractical that each comp has it's own saved setting for the viewer regarding view transform/display device and other settings. I'd love to see a user preference setting to completely lock/sync all comps to keep it all fixed and when it's changed anywhere it is updated on other comps as well. We could work much faster and more consistent that way. Comps that have the same duration could also be more easily compared because you'll know the timeline width is exactly the same.
It'd be handy to have the option to set the quality of a 3D comp for both the comp viewer and the final output; when working with heavy 3D comps, it'd be nice to see a rough view in the comp viewer, but to know that when I send it to render, AE will use a better quality output. I know "Draft 3D" exists, but this does not seem to make much difference to the redraw speed. On a similar note, I'd like to see "render only" layers (I've feature-requested this before, a long time ago) which work in the opposite way to "guide layers" - ie. they only show up when rendering, not previewing a comp. This would be handy for things like motion blur, colour grades, etc. which can slow down a redraw, so one turns them off...and has to remember (hopefully) to turn them back on again when rendering.
Mesh Warp should have a "define boundary" option (like in Nuke's Grid Warp) so that the entire screen space doesn't have to be manipulated which just a small area needs to be tweaked.
Wouldn’t it make sense to ask Adobe to integrate after effects into premiere, same as fusion is integrated in davinci resolve, since AF is also used for compositing. That’s much more reliable that the mostly broken dynamic link, & also less destructive since over in davinci land you don’t have to replace footage with fusion comp, so if you need to do any adjustments later your footage will be as intact. also the trips between the pages are instantaneous.
Request:An option in the Add Grain effect that would add the grain at the Composition level rather than having the grain move and distort with the layer it's applied to. The result would be grain that ignores the layer's tranforms but uses the layer's (transformed & effected) alpha channel as a matte, whether the layer is 2D or 3D. Current Workaround: Create a new Adjustment Layer with Add Grain above the target layer Select the target layer as an alpha matte for the new Adjustment Layer Repeat for each layer that requires grain Add Grain is typically used to match the existing grain of the footage layer underneath the layer being composited. For me, the above would be the default option.
Hi, I am creating a mogrt template. I am adding more than 300 solo properties to the essential graphics panel. And I am placing them in folders to keep them in order. However, since there are so many solo properties, it takes too much time to move them to folders. It would be great if it was possible to multi-select solo properties in the essential graphics panel. Is it possible?
It's been a long time when vetical videos are made using after effects. All the trending Tik Tok video, Youtube shorts and Instagram reels are made in vertical format. Even after years after effects is not optimised for vetical videos. There's not even a option to change from horizontal to vertical screen resolution. I don't why is ignoring this major feature. There's no workspace preset for vertical format video. I think it's time add these essential feature to the software.
Using Extendscript I wish to be able to set the value of property("ADBE Vector Graphic - G-Fill").property("ADBE Vector Grad Colors") The propertyValueType is currently NO_VALUE. I can set all the other properties, but without setting the color it is of no use.
Hi After Effects Team, Thanks so much for your great work on the programm throughout the years. Here's one (hopefully) small thing that would make our lives easier for project backups: Please give us the option to define our own default folder names for (Footage) when collecting files through "File > Dependencies > Collect Files". My company works with an archive server that requires a file naming convention similar to web file names. Therefore it does not permit brackets and other special characters (including character spaces) in the file name structures to prevent problems between users on Macs and PCs. So this generally poses the following problems for me (I'll be using XYZ_assets as a placeholder in the following): 1) Illustrator and Photoshop files are generally imported in their own folder "XYZ_assets layers". I manually remove the character spaces and change this to "XYZ_assets_layers" every time after import, and
The "solid Composite" effect is something I use all the time (it's very handy for making sure blend modes work correctly for lighting effects). However, for some unknowable reason, the default color it's set to use is white, not black. Can this be changed to black? It would probably end up saving me (and others!) hours of work over the course of a year!
Let's say I have a composition with 50+ layers and the majority of them have keyframes. If I need to select all the keyframes across a certain duration, I have to click and drag down past the bottom of the composition panel to trigger the scroll down so I can select other layers' keyframes. Sometimes this can be very laggy and I find myself rolling my eyes and waiting until it automatically scrolls all the way to the bottom. It would be nice to also be able to use my scroll wheel to just quickly scroll all the way to the bottom while selecting keyframes. This would help by not disrupting my flow and save me time in animation.
Has After Effects gone all the way to version 24 without a built in composition helper – similar to the ones in Cinema 4D, or is it buried deeper than I have looked so far?
when I toggle a couple layers "Solo" to test out something, and I hide a layer also with the Eye icon ("hide video"), when I unhide the Eye layer, it misses that it was set to "Solo"pitty.
Hello Adobe community !I was wondering why when i want to change the time of a makerValue, i need to create a duplication and setValue in the needed time. Why there is no attribute called time in the markerValue that is Read/Write.it will be a good thing to haveThank you for Reading !
I have many animations made with layers of animated shapes, which I use regularly, but I have a hard time finding them in the different projects and sequences to which they belong. It would be very nice to have some sort of personal animation library where you can at least upload animations made with shape layers.
