Because Lightroom doesn't offer the option to move files off an SD card (vote for that capability here), I never import photos directly from an SD card. However, I often have an SD card inserted into my computer's reader (it's usually empty because I've just moved the photos somewhere Lightroom finds acceptable to move the photos from instead of just copying or adding them). This means Lightroom's import dialog always defaults to the SD card that I never use.    Lightroom should provide an option so set a default import source folder ("import from" folder). Even defaulting to the last used import folder would be nice. 

Collection synching / Lightroom Mobile is a great addition to Lightroom 5.4. Please extend this functionality to Smart Collections as well.

I cant find instructions on how to just paste a file location when importing. I feel like I'd save a lot of time to have an input right above the folders to just c+v and the folder popup. 

It['d be great to be able to use the before after split screen mode to look at metadata conflicts visually. You could see which version of the metadata is the one to keep. Although you still need to see differences like keywords and so on. I like rob cole's SQLLiteroom's ability to find the files with metadata conflicts, but now I need to figure out which one to keep. Even if it wasn't a visual comparison, that'd be ok. I just feel like I'm blind choosing between the catalog and the xmp file that are out of sync.

I use Lightroom Classic 13.0.1 on a Windows 11 desktop and sometimes I wind up with metadata conflicts for unknown reasons. The only options I have are to choose whether I want metadata in the catalog or in the file to be used. I have no idea whether I made an update that didn't get written to the file, or if some other process on my computer changed the file. We need a third option, "show metadata difference" that would show me which field(s) have actually changed so I can make an informed decision about whether the catalog or the image file is the most current.

I can't find anywhere how to create a shortcut for "FLIP HORIZONTALLY"   I do camera scanning for my film negatives which need to be flipped horizontally. I wish there was a shortcut so i can sync this setting from one to dozens of images at a time.     

Lightroom classic > Import > Import window > choose the folder to import from your computer... all the files appear in the import window. THERE. We should have a button to check on or off if we want to include or exclude video filess for this import to Lightroom catalogI think many of us do have some folder mixing both photos and videosIt is not great to import a full folder, then try to find the video files here and there in the catalog to then remove them (same not great action if you do this in the import window by hand)

Sometimes I have photos with people in the background that I would like to anonymise. You can do this in LR with the copy stamp, for example. But then the faces look very distorted and unnatural and therefore attract more attention from the viewer than necessary. Therefore, it would be perfect if there was a way to ensure the anonymity of the people in the photos by replacing the faces with artificial faces. I can imagine two methods for this: Faces that look deceptively real, as NVIDIA has already shown, or faces that look like real faces at first glance, but then have deformed facial features that are clearly recognisable as "not real" on closer inspection. In this way, people in the background could be made unrecognisable without it being distracting and negative.

Is it possible to add comments to an album or collection as a whole, rather than just to individual photos? The "Comments" area says "Comments not supported here."   I'm deciding whether to switch from iPhoto to LR 6. An important part of my photo organization schema is the comments I add to albums; for example, the weather at the time the photos were taken, or whether my identification of a species has been approved. I'm not sure if this is a dealbreaker or not, but it's pretty darn close if I can't figure out a work-around.

Dear Adobe Lightroom Support Team, I am an avid user of your Adobe Lightroom software. I am writing to suggest a potential improvement that, in my opinion, could significantly enhance the user experience. This is regarding the filename template editor within the export dialog. Currently, it seems there is no capability to change or import the filename using copy and paste. However, such a feature would be extremely beneficial, especially when users want to create multiple export presets with complex filenames. The ability to directly paste names via copy and paste would simplify the process and improve user-friendliness. In my workflow, I regularly encounter the issue of having to manually input desired, often complex, filenames, which is not only time-consuming but also prone to errors. Integrating a copy and paste functionality would make this process much more efficient and error-free. Two very useful productivity improvements: Implement these additions to the LrC Library contextual menu "Move to favorite folder" and also "Add to favorite collection" We can already designate favorite Folders and favorite Collections in Library. When selecting an image from the grid (or loupe) provide a right click that would open a drop-down menu with the additional options to ADD the image to an already designated Favorite Collection or MOVE the image to an already designated Favorite Folder. This would improve productivity immensely after importing a batch of images from, say, a smart phone and relegating them to the right folders and collections. It would also elininate the endless scrolling in the sub-panel, you have to do now, to navigate to the folder or collection you would like to use. jc

Does anyone know how I can fine-tune mouse scrolling speeds while using Lightroom Classic in Develop mode? I'm using a Logitech M350 mouse with settings set to scroll 1 line at a time. But within the Develop mode in Lightroom, scrolling the wheel becomes extremely sensitive. Scrolling the wheel slowly behaves as expected (1 line at a time), but it jumps dramatically to 20-30 lines if I scroll ever-so-slightly faster. I'm aware that I could just use the hand tool via spacebar, but there's a significant delay in tool switching and sometimes the tool doesn't switch at all depending on how laggy my system is while I'm processing. This behavior does not happen in any other program and Logitech does not supply/require special drivers/software to tweak the settings for this mouse (it's a pretty basic model).   I'm running Lightroom Classic (11.5 release) on Windows 10 with a Wacom Intuos also plugged in.   {Thread title updated by moderator}

I just have one catalog for all my personal photos, so I can make use of the face tagging. So it would be counter-productive to split it into multiple catalogs each with their own face DB. But as each year goes by, it gets bigger, and Lightroom gets slower. So why not have support for storing the catalog in an external SQL database like digiKam does? Could even one-up digiKam with an offline mode to cache the catalog locally to do work when off the network and then sync back when you return. Then I wouldn't need to overspec my personal computer just for my Lightroom catalog. Which I only really use for organizing, and not really at all for editing (and Bridge doesn't do tagging, and Lightroom CC doesn't support XMP face region metadata because Reasons).

If you copy the editing settings to another photo, the healing tool and the masking tool are also copied. However, they will be inserted in exactly the same place, even though the subject is in a slightly different place in the photo. Example: Use the masking tool to lighten the eye sockets slightly to conceal the dark circles. But if you transfer the settings from this photo to the next portrait, the masking tool may lighten the eyebrows or the forehead instead of the eye sockets. The same applies to the repair tool, which retouches away the rubbish bin in the background, but then does not recognise the slightly changed position of the rubbish bin in the next photo, but instead bluntly uses the same position. It would be perfect if the tool analysed the image and adjusted it accordingly so that it intelligently places the tool instead of transferring it 1:1 without context.   Example: Instead of tracking them and applying it at least to the right position. In October 2021, the IPTC announced new metadata properties to make images more accessible. One particularly interesting one is the AltText property, which is intended to hold the same kind of information that you'd see in the alt attribute of images on the web. Properly-written alt-text is usually a description of the image intended to let partially-sighted or blind users know what is shown in the image. AltText is different from the Title or Description of an image; it's a description of the appearance of an image, rather than a description of what the image represents. So, for example, if you took Robert Capa's famous 'Falling Soldier' image, the title might be "Falling Soldier" or "Loyalist Militiaman at the Moment of Death", the description might be "Photograph by Robert Capa allegedly showing a militiaman shot at the battle of Cerro Muriano, 1936", but the alt-text might be "A black-and-white photograph of a man in civilian clothes with a leather cartridge belt falling backwards,

I have found myself in need to copy and replace Local Point Color from a correction to another Correction.   Use case.   Correction 1 has these Masks.     I did Point Color in another Correction (at that time I didn't feel it had to be done in the first correction)       I then realized, 3 days later when I revisited the image, that I need the Point Color done in "Color Shift II" for "Ai Clothes Color"    At this point I have 3 choices:   1. Using Point Color I can attempt to sample the same Color using Point Color in "Ai Clothes Color"   PROBLEM IS I need to sample the exact same spot where I sampled it in correction "Color Shift II"  I found this to be impossible because I don't remember exactly where I sampled...too much time has passed. Point Color also doesn't tell us where we sampled NOR shows any RGB or HLS  values for the sample source color so we can't identify it.   This method

I am looking to select about 1,000 photos, all of which have edits, flags, ratings, and colors. I will be putting them into a new collection and I want to start over from scratch with these 1,000 photos. I have tried to select all of the photos in Develop Mode and "Clear History" but that doesn't do it.   How do I erase all of all of the edits made to each photo, and any flags, ratings, or colors to be removed?   I would prefer not to go one by one. I was trying to create a Smart Collection to search and identify all my photos ithat I have uploaded to Flickr.  Flicker photos are identifed as such in the 'History' section in the devlopment mode with the following: Publish - Flickr (16/8/2023 09:26:15).  A Smart collection, it seems, is unable to read this identification marker.    I suggest that a future edition of Lightroom could have this feature.     Thanks

We are shooting hundreds of product and model photos and the client wants all of the backgrounds to be a sepcific color that we have in our swatch library. We shoot all the images on a paper background that is almost that color; we have been exporting all the images to Photoshop to mask the background out and layer them over that exact swatch. We would like to do this in Lightroom and save a lot of steps, but the new background masking tool does not let us select that color swatch from our CC library. Is there way to do this? 

Salut!   I am a Apple enviroment user. I would like to use my Ipad insted of a loupedeck (external device). The Ipad is already synced with my macbook. I need all the controls available on Ipad.  I know it is more of a business decision because it will trash a few loupedeck devices but it would be very usefull for a lot of users.  I am 100% sure that if you dont do it , it will probably come on the market as an app.    Have a great day! I have lots of keywords, and I apply them by typing in the field under 'Keyboarding > Keyword Tags > Enter Keywords'.Because it is so easy to mistype a keyword and therefore inadvertently create a new keyword, the result is a mess that requires periodic maintenance - reassign the old keyword to files, and delete the new one.It would be great it a new keyword required confirmation before its creation. And since some users might find this annoying, it could be a feature that required opting in with a setting.

While Capture One Pro released an update on 30 Nov 2023, which allows users to save images on both computers and cards, will this function be added to Lightroom Classic in the future?    

While LR 13 (finally!) added keyword:setParent(), the methods getAttributes() and setAttributes() still don't support all the keyword attributes. In particular:   - keyword:getAttributes() should also return the fields "exportContainingKeywords" and"exportSynonyms".   - keyword:setAttributes () show allow the fields "exportContainingKeywords", "exportSynonyms", and "keywordType".    This is trivial to implement.  It would allow plugins to provide batch (bulk) editing of keywords using the SDK, without having to resort to using "sqlite3" to modify the catalog database (as my Any Tag plugin does).   Does Adobe really mean to encourage the use of unsupported modification of the catalog database simply to batch-edit the Person attribute?

How about some better support for keyword management. It's very basic now. I would like to do the following tasks:- Delete multiple keywords at once. Not all plugins do handle hierarchy keywords well and add all the keywords to the root level. It's a tedious task to delete them one by one.- Search for duplicates.- Merge keywords. With lots of tricks, it can be done, but it's so inefficient.- Import keywords from within any level in the keyword hierarchy. Now you can only import keywords to the root level.- And for now last but most important: Real external editing of the keyword list. Moving keywords around and doing real heavy reorganization is difficult in LR. I would like to have an editing option like exporting and when reimported all changes are reflected in LR.

Hi everyone, In the Library module, it would be absolutely fantastic to be able to vertically split the Left Column.   It would allow us to display at the same time specific Folders & the Collections in order to move easily a folder to a specific Sub Collection.   What is your feeling about my proposal ?
