Feature Requests

Someone may be able to point out to me that this feature already exists in one way or another but I haven't been able to find it so far - Photoshop or Forums. So, Photoshop recently introduced the ability to change the state of a layer comp within a smart object in the Properties menu, without opening that object. This is an amazing feature. I thought that logically, there would also now be a preference to 'Remember Smart Object Layer Comp' within the Layer Comp preferences of the main document in the same way that it can remember the visibility and position of any element. I can only imagine how tidy my Photoshop work space would become if this were the case. Any ideas?

I think it's a good first step but not quite there for me. The biggest missing features for my workflow are: pen, polygonal lasso tool, local save, raw support and fix the size bug in the brush tool so the circle shows the actual brush size..

Layer comps is a crucial feature for a many artists, particularly designers for film and storyboard artists. Thank you.

The iOS Version of Photoshop needs the same crop functionality then the desktop versions. Specially the feature, to crop to a specific size is a unique feature, that is missing on mobile products.Now the new IOS Version (as expensive as desktop version) does not have this feature.As we need mostly this, we have to move to a different product.

Currently only way to import/export photos to cloud documents is via Save as dialog on desktop, or opening single photo on iPad.It works fine if you have a single file that you work for weeks but doesn't work if you want to retouch 100+ photos.1) Please make an option on desktop to just import a folder of photos to cloud documents so you can start to work with them on iPad.2) Please make an option on desktop to export selected/all cloud documents to a local folder in selected format. Batch save as jpeg basically.It should be quite simple to do but will make this whole feature usable for retouchers/photographers.

Problem:Let's say my client sends me a 4Mb JPEG file which needs retouching for a project. I open it in Photoshop, add a couple of simple adjustment layers, and save the image as a psd. The resulting file is now 65Mb. This waste of disk space is totally unnecessary, since all I've added to the image is a couple of adjustment layers. And if I'm working on, say, a magazine containing hundreds of photos, the amount of wasted space really stacks up.Solution:Whenever you open a JPEG in Photoshop, it appears as an 'embedded JPEG layer'. This operates a lot like a Smart Layer. You can apply effects to it, but the layer itself is not regarded as editable bitmap data (unless you rasterize it). Then, when you save it, the original JPEG remains embedded in its original JPEG format, so if you haven't added any raster layers, the file size should be only slightly larger than the original JPEG.

So that we dont have to wait 5 minutes for the preview to generate, to then be told that its too large to save as a psd

How do I create an image larger than 300,000 by 300,000 pixels?

In Photoshop, it would be nice when "free transforming" a layer that the "maintain aspect ratio" lock button would maintain the previous setting, or some other way to set the default mode. I'm frustrated that I have to click it each time I'm resizing a bunch of items individually. Thanks.

I would like to see the Lens Flare filter completely overhauled and replaced.The current filter looked cool 15 years ago, but today it just looks cheap/fake. There are 3rd party plugins that can do this (like Knoll Light Factory for AE), but it would be nice if Adobe improved their own filter.-----What I would like considered in new lens flare filter:* Real-time Preview (w/GPU acceleration?).* Can be used as a Smart Filter.* An interface that makes it simple to quickly add a preset flare and change intensity/position. Advanced Options for total control.* Customizable Lens Flare elements.* Texture/image-based Lens Flare elements (not only synthetic shapes).* Use a channel as an occlusion-map.* Chromatic aberration.* Lens Texture (dust, scratches, etc).* Option for Image-based Lens Flares – the brightest parts of the image (or a channel) automatically turn into a flare.* Flare source can be placed outside the canvas.* It should work in 3D-space in After Effects (not only Photoshop).* Goo

The Number One grievance I have with this incredible software (been using 24 years) is the lack of common sense intelligence when you change a size from something like “24pt” to “30t” by accident... I do this all the time, usually because I am not looking at it while changing it. Simply clicking on the field should render the entire box empty with no text remnants in the field. Anyone else feeling my pain? This would be incredibly easy to fix. (Please do in all programs)

Hello,Following your official advice on using SSDs as scratch disks where they are often boot drives can quickly lead to system crashes, and in my experience with Mac Pros, image corruption issues (lines of white added in color channels, garbled caches etc) when the system runs out of space. Not to mention it slows the system down to a halt where one cannot even save the file to deal with the issue.Why not set a 'use as scratch disk until X GB left option on each scratch disk so that we can avoid this issue altogether. Especially since most SSDs perform worse as they near full capacity and that most use boot drives that can easily be filled by photoshop, this sounds like a simple but effective method of adjusting photoshop for contemporary systems. (I have 32GB Ram and 100GB free space on my SSD and PS still manages to fill it even when I limit history states)

Delete all unused layers in ALL layer comps. Right now hitting delete all unused layers messes up a file with more than 1 layer comp. Personally I use like 20 layer comps each PSD - this feature would help immensely in trimming file size down and cleaning up if handing the file off.

Why can't you delete more than one path at a time? You can do this with Channels and layers... the path palette hasn't changed in ages.

I would love to see a count of discreet selections in an image. My main motivation is biology research, where it is often vital to perform cell counts in an image. It's incredibly easy to create a selection of luminescent cells on a plate via channels or the color range tool, and both methods account for variations in cell shape really well. But there's no way to see how many selections have been made. I really don't want to count to 30,000 by hand, even with the count tool! Attached: A plate sample! 🙂 Would be great to have an "Add count" option that let me set min and max size or luminosity and then drop the result into the measurements log. Image is not available

This is a request from those that do CMYK prepress work in Photoshop. We are often having to convert images to CMYK profiles with custom ink densities to match certain publication standards. There are profiled ink densities of all four inks that equal 240 280 340 etc... The only way to check out the work we do in Photoshop is to generate a PDF of our file, Open it in Acrobat, Go to Tools, Output Preview and check the Total Area Coverage warning. It is Way too many extra steps for something that needs to get possibly re-adjusted in Photoshop. It would be amazing to have this sort of preview within Photoshop. It would enhance productivity and file quality. Unfortunately, I don't think there are too many pre-press operators that visit this forum but i can say that the prepress community is massive and would benefit greatly from this. See the attached image of what I have to do in Acrobat.

Display the style name of the layer effect in the layers palette. For example, you can create a style for a color overlay using a color swatch, and then apply that style to a layer. Right now there is no way to know what color swatch was used because the overlay dialog window shows only the color picker and not the swatch name. If the style is named for the color swatch, and the layer effect indicates the name of the style applied, you would know what color swatch was used, as well as any other effects that go along with that original style in the style palette.

I want to assign custom keyboard commands to Actions.  Like Command+Shift+R or something like that.  The F keys are at the top of my keyboard and require my eyes to make sure I'm hitting the right F key.    I operate very quickly and need the Actions to be triggered by keys that are closer to where my left hand sits on the keyboard.  (I usually have a wacom pen in my right hand.)

Premise - I am running Ps on an XPS 9370, so with no dedicated graphics; but aside from this one issue, all of my Adobe programs run beautifully.I was thinking - why isn't there a way to start the Content Aware Fill tool with a completely blank sampling area, to then just add to? This would be especially useful for those who wish to save time and resources when they have to fill with a relatively small sample area (like, repetitive patterns that are especially hard to tackle manually). It could be implemented as an option with the omnipresent shift + click on the menu entry.I am currently working on a rather complex project at the moment - I have to remove stickers from a curved, reflective carbon fibre surface on a sports car - and every time I try to shave off the excess sampling area, Photoshop ends up stalling, and I have to force quit via Task Manager.

Sometimes the whole "shades of grey" thing just doesn't cut it, and becomes very hard to follow.

Please, please, please add a "Legacy settings" preference toggle somewhere any time default behavior is changed for a tool or commonly used UX paradigm in a software release.Additionally, add a blocking dialog on startup which calls out this change and has the opt-out checkbox available. It is just very important that consideration for long time users is also a priority.

So if I want my canvas to be 43px smaller I can basically type 160-43. Or if I want it to be 2.5x bigger I can do 160x2.5. Any number field can benefit from this. Very often I have to open the calculator to figure out numbers.

For people who like to work in duel view windows of the same picture it would be nice to be able to manipulate one view window by flipping it horizontally/vertically without actually doing anything to the original image the same way the rotate view tools does. It could simply be an option in the rotate view tool settings bar . TY for listening

Part of my usual workflow I use the Crop Tool Overlay Options to set my guides (golden ration, rule of thirds, etc) when I start work on any layout.However, soon as I start a document with several Artboards these Overlays no longer display.I understand when new features enhance old workflows, but the Artboards are a mixed bag for me as setting guides and creating rough layouts is far more time-consuming. 

I want the restrictions for assigning shortcuts in Photoshop removed completely. It's a neusance when you can't ctrl drag to change brush size, or assign a single letter.
