FrameMaker

Hello. I'm im the process of evaulating possible migration from current tech manual software to framemaker 2019. We have about 500 titles - thousands of graphic assets all in compressed flat (non-layered) TIF format, sized for content (including text wrap), @11363214. I have framemaker import set to Copy instead of Reference. Upon Insert > Image, framemaker defaults to 72dpi. I am unable to find any indication that framemaker can be forced to import all graphics at a user-specified size. Nothing in preferences, nothing that i can see in the .ini, nothing that i can find in the registry; i'm all out of google search results lol.Is there some way to change default graphic import size, or would every single image have to be set manually (or through framemaker script)? I've created an object style @11363214 but it leaves the graphic at 72dpi no matter if i create the frame first or set style after import (so i'm not sure what affect that anchor frame dpi setting is meant for).Converting

Paragraph and character formats/tags are global (available/applied across all files in a book), so why on earth are variables not similarly global?In a book with 25 files, and over a thousand pages, if I need a new variable or need to change a variable across all those files (such as with a page header that includes a version number), I have to go through EACH file and change/create that variable.This is pure Madness! MADNESS I tell you!

Hi!!!I am facing new type of error in frame maker. Book and Induvidual chapters are generated as a adobe pdf. while copy the content from the adobe pdf, the induvidual chapter content is not pasting as it is in the source content see the above image for better understanding, for book im not facing any issue in the contents coping from book pdf and pasting in notepad, excel.Note: Pdf's are coming properly while coping the contents from pdf that time only we are facing the issue .your support would be appriciated!!!

I'm using FrameMaker 12 and editing a DITA map that has over 600+ topics along with several conrefs (names of our software). I need to replace these conrefs across 600+ topics (shown as Product Name in the screenshot below) with different text (for example, Adobe). I tried using the Edit > Find/Change option but couldn't get it to work. Can anyone help, please?

I am using Structured FrameMaker 1019 Version 15.0.3.603.I am finding that when I do global operations on a book, I often find that files get corrupted in the process.I usually don't find out about the corruption until the next time I open the file and it returns a, This file cannot be opened due to corruption, message.When I say Global Operations, I mean that I use "Find/Replace" to change attribute values. e.g. when I am ready to start a new revision I will update a number of variables so that changes are tracked properly.The issue is not limited to "Find/Replace", sometimes I will rollout an EDD update to all files in a book and get corruption as well.Further the corruption does not always cause the file itself to be corrupted. Sometimes the corruption comes in the form of artifacts within embedded TIFF graphic images.I have yet to see any pattern to when the corruption occurs, apart from when I am doing these Global changes.    I also find an increased inci

Using FM2019, I'm generating HTML Help output. At the top of the generated HTML Help document, there's yellow navigation panel where you can click on a chapter (.fm file) to go there. However, they all have the same title, the name of the document (FM book common.) I want chapter titles instead, the same ones as found in the contents tab to the left. How can I adjust this?

Hello FM community,Using FM2019 (unstructured) am outputting a large project to Responsive HTML5. By and large all the paragraph tag conversions work flawlessly. But for some reason, my bulleted lists in FM do not reflect the changes in paragraph tag and size that I set in the sts file. Other paragraph tags do reflect the changes correctly. Only the bulleted list (which on the Responsive HTML5 output is an unordered list) doesn't change. Comments anyone?

I was looking at a tutorial by Barb Binder about how to create a list of effective pages on the Rocky Mountain Training site, I know that I would like to incorporate this into my documents but I am missing some knowledge to make it work. The above-mentioned tutorial assumes that the reader knows how to create "running heads", Chapter numbering, list of paragraphs, and variables. I am fairly confident in my knowledge in all of those except how to create/configure running heads in my document.  If someone can point me in the direction of such a tutorial or can break it down into more simple terms that are outlined in Barb's tutorial I would be grateful as this would save me an immense amount of time each time I have to update documents. Thank you in advance.  

I bought a new laptop with Windows 10 in S mode. As I understand it, I will have to get out of S mode to download and install FrameMaker 2019. However, I also understand that I will have to upgrade Windows 10 to 64-bit before installing. Has anybody had this experience? If so, any pointers would be helpful. Also, did FrameMaker 2019 run well after you installed it? Thanks,Allen

I have a lot of images which I need to import in anchored frames. I want a specific scaling - say 52% on each image. I would like to create an object style, so I could click on an imported and apply an object style which would scale my image to 52%. I can do that, but I can not figure out how to avoid that a lot of other properties comes along in the setting. Like position, dimension etc. What is the best way to handle this?

If the heading is too long,How can i wrap text automatically in toc??see the below image. i used another key Esc space h some time its working but not giving proper alignment. for example see the 29 it has three lines, all the three lines in proper alignment. some time the 2nd or 3rd lines are not in same alignment while using Esc space h or control space. so i need another way to solve it. if anyone knows solution tell me your support would be appriciated!!! Note : I am using unstructure doc

The help says I must edit in the Master Document.... which one is that?  I have a problem with a book file.  the front page is right, the TOC is incorrect and one of the sections is incorrect.  Also when I try to Save As PDF one of the sections Framemaker crashes.  Framemaker 10!

While creating new TOC, im not getting "Table of contents" sentence. First image is existing one. Second image is newly created one. if any one know please tell me.

This one is really stumping me.  The same image appears on two different Framemaker Documents. However, one appears grey (which is correct) and the other, black (incorrect). I cannot find the source file for these, so it's not as simple as importing the image. I have tried to adjust color in the Anchored frame and Object properties. They are the same. For Object Properties, I even right-clicked and selected "Object properties" for both. They are exactly the same. I tried the line fill adjustments in the Object properties toolbar. They are exactly the same. I tried view\color\definitions. They are exactly the same.  Any thoughts? I know I'm doing something wrong (or not performing the right action). Thanks!

When I perform a check in FrameMaker 2019 (OS: Windows 10 Pro) with the 'Acrolinx' app and then move the mouse over the elements (green rectangle,FM_start_visible.png), corresponding information is displayed (see FM_start_visible.png). As soon as I remove or dock this app from the other Pods, the previously mentioned text boxes are no longer displayed (see . Only closing and restarting FrameMaker helps (FM_undocked_not_visible). What must be done so that docking and undocking the app does not lead to this error behavior?Thank you!

We are using structured FrameMaker 14.0.2 on Windows 10 Enterprise (10.0.17134).  We recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and starting receiving "Internal Error: 14024, 72797540, 73072000, 73022110" (in the FrameLog files) when opening documents, and sporadically 1 to 3 times an hour.  When the error occurs, FrameMaker closes (with no warning) and there are no recover files created.  The error is occuring in all our documents, on multiple machines and for all 4 users.    Our corporate policy requires us to work on a network.  As a test, we worked on a local drive for 7 days (in three different documents).  We did not receive the error during the 7 day period.  We were able to work with the same version of FrameMaker and Windows 7 on the network with no issues.  We cannot revert back to Windows 7.  Has anyone else received this error?  Any specific ideas on a solution (besides not working on n

Hello FM community,FM2019I've posted recently regarding x-refs working between books. I've been able to get this to work with help of many on this forum. Now, with the same 25 book project (which up to now has only been requested in PDF output), I am being asked to create a Responsive HTML5 view of all 25 books. With cross-references intact. In FM, if I File -> Publish first one book, then another (which contains x-refs to the first book), it does not work. The link does nothing. I'm guessing it simply cannot be done. But I'm wondering if anyone out there can suggest anything. Perhaps Robohelp is a better source program. I may end up combining the 25 books into a single book simply to be able to produce a single Responsive HTML5 system. Any comments are most appreciated. While creating TOC some sub level heading coming on "BOLD". i need that headings in regular. if i do manually that times its changes to regular, if i update the book again it comes "BOLD".  i checked the paragraph designer also for this level heading it shows regular font only. if any one knows answer please tell me. thanks in advance 

Every time I close FM 2019, it crashes. I can open it with no document open, then close it, and it crashes. I just installed this a few weeks ago. It has done this every single time since install. It is already updated to the latest version.

I want to copy past code example made in C++ into Framemaker but when I do it, whatever the way used (importing from word, special paste, ...) the color code once copied in Framemaker is not respected compare to the source code and then it makes no sense anymore. someone has an idea as I tried all what I know?

Can anyone tell me why this seemingly simple script just hangs? function closeAllFiles() { var doc = app.FirstOpenDoc; while(doc.ObjectValid()) { doc.Close(Constants.FF_CLOSE_MODIFIED); doc = app.FirstOpenDoc; } }  When I watch it in the debugger, app.Close() seems to succeed, but app.FirstOpenDoc continues to get new document objects. I don't know where they are coming from. I thought maybe it was the tabbed welcome screen regenerating each time, but the problem persisted when I turned it off. Russ

I have just upgraded my document to FM19. The document has several hundreds of .png images. They look fine in the pdf output, but the HTML and HTML Help output contain shrunk images.For example one image goes from 882 x 623 pixels, to 522 x 377 pixels. How can I keep the original size?Also, in the HTML and HTML Help output, the images are centered instead of left aligned. In the FM document they are set to Offset 0 from Top, and Offset 0 from Left.
