FrameMaker

I found this sentence(FrameMaker provides out-of-the-box direction support for DITA topics (topic, task, concept, and reference).) in the Framemaker 2019 helpBut it is not working properly. Does anybody know this problem?

I'm new to FrameMaker and wanted how best to keep a graphic element in a side-head together with text in the body (eg. creating a warning graphic/note).

I am having to change the fonts in an 800 page document and there are upwards of THIRTY different fonts and even more color shade choices for the fonts.We are simplifying to Arial only and black text. So far I'm editing each page individually. I would love a .css file that I can go through quickly. Is this available?I'll keep searching the forum, but would love any help you guys can provide.Thanks!

I am running Framemaker 11.0.0.380 and Distiller 10.1.163 - and periodically I can't use SAVE AS PDF. If I reboot my system I then can. Usually I can make 1-2 PDFs and then it fails and I have to completely reboot.I have tried designating the printer as Adobe PDF and unchecking RELY ON SYSTEM FONTS ONLY ... sometimes I can make a PDF and sometimes I can't. I can sometimes designate my HP Envy printer in print setup - and I usually get 1-2 PDFs out before I have to reboot.When I look at apps (I am running Windows 10), I do see the Adobe PDF Creation Add-On X that loaded with FrameMaker.I also have Adobe Creative Suite 6 Master Collection and Adobe Acrobat X Pro.I should say that my system with this software worked for years until I added Windows 10.Any ideas about this? I would appreciate some help - losing so much time to rebooting.Jennifer

Hi,I have a small document with a video (created a few years ago; this was more a test than a real documentation). The video is a referenced avi file.When I convert this document to PDF, then I can play the video (after some security questions).However, when I convert this document to HTML5, I get just a large empty space.Do I have to use another file format?How can I convert a video to HTML5?Best regardsWinfried

Using unstructured FrameMaker. On the master page footer I've put in Running H/F 13 and on body page use <$marker3> to put an ATA number in this location. I also have another location (hidden text) on the body page that I want this ATA number to appear. I use this text to help create the PDF bookmarks.Is there a way to cross reference to the text in <$marker3>? The current cross-reference format is set up as -<$pagenumber> <$paratext[SectionTitle]> and looks like -201 Exterior Placards and Markings. I'm currently adding the ATA number manually so the cross-reference is 11-10-11-201 Exterior Placards and Markings. I've tried using the paratag for the ATA number with no success.Appreciate any ideas.[e-mail removed by moderator]

I have a table with different tags for each column. I would like to keep the information in each row together, and output an alphabetical list that sorts based on one of those columns only, while still retaining the associated order in that row. Is this possible in Frammaker?The closes solution I have is a list of paragraphs, where I have the four columns generate with run-in paragraph tags. Then I have to convert this into a table, then sort the table, which is quite a bit of extra work.

Greetings,I am very new to FrameMaker and just have a general question.I have a requirements to use Frame with a supplied USAF MILSTD.  I am completely aware that this is a significant undertaking since these DTDs are deisgned for use in Arbortext.  Going in I knew I was going to have to fix a lot of errors to produce the EDD file necessary.  Two of the more significant issues I have seen are:1) ENTITY declarations not being resolved.  Some parse fine and others are useless.  Is there any reason that the software has trouble with certain ones?2) ELEMENT/ATTRIBUTE names are being truncated and ignored.  I believe the software has issues with anything over 8 charraters.  Is this the case?My approach has been to open the DTD in Frame - look at the errors - and correct them line by line.Thanks for any advice!

Simple question, I think it is because I grouped the files in the Project Manager, now whatever numbering I use is applied to all my pages. How can i fix it so that only the TOC uses roman numerals.

Hello,I am using Adobe FrameMaker 2019 with version 15.0.3.603 (latest version) and Acrobat Pro DC with version 19.010.20100 (latest version) - and the Save As PDF menu does not work in FrameMaker.   I have to use the Print to PDF option, and that option only works sometimes.Has anyone seen this issue?  Is it a missing font or corrupt font issue or something else?   I am using a Windows 10 (64 bit) laptop with 8GB of RAM.Regards,Jim

I have a list of paragraphs, and would like to have the <$paratext> as cross referenced, but the resulting tabstop  . . . . and <$pagenum> not generate the link. I thought I had seen a building block that would accomplish this, but have not been able to find it. I thought of trying a work around with multiple run in paragraph tags, but I only have the one paragraph tag to generate the final <$pagenum>, so run in paragraph would cause issues.

I'd like to simplify the structure a bit, and have several elements that are valid. However, I'd like to limit the elements in the general rule based on context. Is this possible?Example, if Heading1 has a context of Pageblock400, then have the General Rule include Table400, Figure400?

How do you import an image logo (that’s white) with a transparent background into Frame 2017 (Version: 14.0.0.361) without a white box overlay? And what settings should be used when exporting a transparent image from Photoshop/Illustrator to be received in FrameMaker without a white box?I set transparency when exporting the image in numerous output formats and every time these images were imported into Frame they came in with white box. I also read once the image is imported to turn off fill—which I did and still no results. It's hard for me to belief that importing an image with transparency can't be done in Frame, any suggestions is greatly appreciated. Chris

Hi,I have a rather large documentation which I want to convert to HTML5 (400 pages in PDF, 660 referenced vector EPS graphics).However, FrameMaker converts only about 10 % of all graphics correctly to JPG.All other graphics are converted to white rectangles.FrameMaker converts to real graphics up to a certain page, and from then on only white rectangles. The file names are correct; the graphics are pure white.There is no difference between the original graphics. All were created in the last years or months.In the Image settings the default format is JPG. (I find PNG slightly worse.)Reference page images are imported.Apart from this no changes to the default, no margins, no borders, no scaling.I already copied eveything to a local drive, restarted FrameMaker, restarted Windows, opened all files during the conversion.When I do not restart FrameMaker I get only white rectangles.When I restart FrameMaker and start the conversion, then the white rectangles always start with the same topic.O

Hi, all.I am using FrameMaker 13 in a Windows 10 environment.All of our user guides use a common template. We output to PDF and .chm. A .sts file from one project contains useful settings for any other project using the same template, so I recently copied Product A_settings.ststo the directory for Product B, and renamed itProduct B_settings.sts.I then opened Project B_settings.sts and discovered that, sure enough, certain conversion settings were not carried over from Project A_settings.sts to Project B_settings.sts, specifically the switch from right-alignment to left-alignment for our H1 and H2 styles. I've come across this before: it's unclear what settings are successfully stored and transferred when you copy an .sts file from one project to another.Resigned to having to redo these settings, I selected H1 and attempted to edit it:I clicked Edit Style, but nothing happens.This has happened in the past. I am able to generate LOR and IOR for imported graphics, however, I want to be able to see which document the imported graphic is in, so that when I generate for an entire book I get:image010 @ 150 dpi 1   document1.fmimage020 @ 150 dpi 2   document1.fmimage030 @ 150 dpi 1   document2.fmetcinstead of image010 @ 150 dpi 1 image020 @ 150 dpi 2 image030 @ 150 dpi 1 Since these lists/indexes contain hypertext, I imagine the information already exists on document names, can it be displayed using tools readily available (FM 2015) or will this need to be done in ExtendScript?Cheers

I have seen a person reference an app Method() but I am unable to find this reference again.Cheers

I have many (several hundred) SVG files that use the Arial font. All of them are saved from Microsoft Visio 2016 and used in my FrameMaker 2017 documentation. My old laptop had both the Arial and Helvetica fonts installed. FrameMaker 2017 displayed the SVG files correctly on that laptop. My new laptop has only Arial. Even though my SVG files do not use Helvetica (manually confirmed in the SVG source code), FrameMaker 2017 corrupts any use of the Arial font when displaying these SVG files. These same SVG files work fine in every other browser and viewer I have tried on my new laptop. Hi, I was trying to run a frame script into a frame maker. But the Frame maker sending an error mentioned in the below screenshot.The script is just deleting the paragraph whose Paragraph tag is ‘TableTitle’. Attaching the FrameMaker Logs file.
