Hi,I am developing a dialog based client for FrameMaker.I Created a dialog using .dre file to generate .dl and .xdi filesIn my client code I opened the dialog using F_ApiOpenResource(FO_DialogResource, (ConStringT)"MYDIALOG");and then F_ApiModelessDialog(MYDIALOG, dlgId); to display the dialog. The dialog appears as expected. How do I make the FM POD(Modeless dialog) re-sizable?Examples FM POD's for Markers, fonts, insets are all re-sizable. I want to achieve same behavior for my custom dialog.Thanks,Abhijeet

I English, you often write 2 words apart. For example "night temperature". In Swedish we write them as one word "nattemperatur". That word consists of 2 separate words: "natt" and "temperatur".The thing is that "natt" ends with 2 "t:s" and "temperatur" begins with a "t". When you write them as one word, it's written with 2 "t:s".BUT what if this word needs to be hyphenated and "natt" ends up at the end of one line and "temperatur" in the beginning of the next line? Then there must be a total of 3 "t:s"!! How can I add this word in the spellchecker so it's always correctly spelled, both with and without hyphen?Lena

I am Swedish, and we don't use inches that often (only with for instance pipe dimensions). 1/2, 1/4 and 3/4 I can do with the keyboard or Alt 0188 and Alt 0190 (but it doesn't work here). But how do you Americans, who uses inches a lot, write for instance 3/8 or 5/8? I can't find any ASCII-codes for that.Lena

I am not able to install FrameMaker 17 after downloading the two files.

I want to change the default level of bookmarks to None instead of default, but no can do, it simply goes back to default. I want to see if this setting helps the display issue with PDFs in a Web browser. The PDF looks perfectly find in Acrobat (all bookmarks closed) but on the Web page every bookmark is open and it looks messy. Any thoughts?

Hi,I am using FM12. We want to use the same book file to create content which will be used for printed PDFs and for online documentation.For cross-references, we'd like the printed version to include page numbers (i.e. Please see Policy ABC on page 123).  For the online version, we want to omit the page numbers and just have a hyperlink (i.e. Please see Policy ABC).Is there a way to do this in FM 2017?Thank you,

I am trying to upgrade framemaker 2015 to 2017 and hitting an issue, after downloading and extracting the product AdobeFramemaker_14_0_1_upd and running it i get the instant message as shown below:Not sure why it is saying this and I have checked our Web proxy and firewall and it doesn't even seem to be getting that far, anu ideas suggestions would be gratefully recieved   Steve

HiI have an inherited FrameMaker guide which was converted from v11 to 2015 and I am updating the format of the LOT. I noticed in the Paragraph Catalog, there is what looks like an auto-generated LOT of an LOT tag (below) which I want to remove (I have the same situation with a LOF tag in the figures file). I deleted the building blocks for the TableTitle - 2LinesXX-XLOTLOT and the paragraph tag in the catalog. I also did a Find for this paragraph tag and Frame said it was not found in the body, master, and references pages.However, when I Update Book, FrameMaker re-generates this paragraph tag and puts the building blocks back in the reference page.Can anyone tell me why Frame keep regenerating this tag?Thanks!Emma

We have to translate some documents containing non-translatable terms, e.g. trade marks like Adobe or terms from HMIs like Open or Close.How can I tag such terms directly in FM, so that the CAT tool (e.g. SDL Trados) marks them as not to be translated or even does not offer them for translation to the human translator?A special term list does not help, because within a context some terms have to be translated (e.g. the term Open in bodytext), but within another context the same terms should not be translated (e.g. the term Open in HMIs).I know, other tools provide "inner elements" like X-Trans for tagging terms. We just installed FrameMaker 2017 under the IT guy's Acrobat account. I was going to sign him out when Frame warned me that signing out will disable FrameMaker. As the user do I need an account?

Just downloaded update 4 for Framemaker 2017 and on many menu bars the text with icons disappeared. Is there any way to get the text descriptions to appear alongside the icons? Or maybe they were never there and I just thought they were, it's been a few months since I had a FM project. I seem to remember you could choose to have text with the icons. Thanks.

The graphics tool bar is unusable in the latest UI iteration, so I need to revert to a previous version. I have a subscription. Thanks!Frame developers: please stop tinkering with the UI!!! At least give the option of changing to a different UI. Nobody likes having to re-learn a new interface four times a year, and figure out how to get all their settings back to the way they had before the update! This last UI change is the final straw for me. No longer will I try to sell FM to a new client. I cannot in good conscience foist such a problematic tool.

I am using unstructured FrameMaker 13 to create machine user manuals. The machines have units that are used multiple times throughout the machine in different sections. We organize our FrameMaker book manuals the same way our machines are organized, so we have a section for each machine section with the documents that cover the units in each section. I was able to find a Relative command and Syntax in FM Marker (Hypertext) that WORKED. Hi all,in these last years I worked for a client with some files with images linked like something like:..\..\..\..\Folder1\Folder2\image.jpgThe client never gives us images, but when he receives back his files the links work good and the files find their images without any other kinf of job.Last time I worked not on a lan, but on my C: drive. Giving bak the files to the client he found that links were corrupted.The links look like:..\..\..\Folder1\Folder2\image.jpg(a "..\" was lost)I did some test working with files on the lan and in local drive, and found that it happens: working on local drive files loose a part of the path.Does anybody has experience of that?Thanks

A rather unusual issue: I can't log in this forum using the Firefox browser.Firefox is up to date. No adblocker. No disturbing add-ons or plugins.Whenever I try to log in, I get a white screen.Chrome and Opera work fine, but I don't want to use these browsers.Are there any special settings to use the forum with Firefox?

My company bought 6 or 7 licenses for Frame 2017 to upgrade out version 11 and 12s. The first license was downloaded to a laptop running Windows 7.When I opened the program, the screen didn't fully resolve:But it looks fine when an existing file is opened (double-clicked). The second installation was on a desktop running Windows 10; same problem.Has anyone reported this issue?Any suggestions for a fix?

I am using FrameMaker 9.0 on Windows, and I'm trying to add the statement "Page intentionally left blank" on the last page of my chapters. I've found some information online about how to do it, but not step-by-step instructions. I tried each of the solutions (adding a reference frame in the reference pages, adding a new master page), but for some reason, I can't get this to work. I also tried just manually typing the line in, but that's risky because I'll probably forget some in the final edit and/or I'll add/delete text and the pagination will change.Sorry if this has been posted before. I did a search and couldn't find it.Thanks in advance for your help!

We are publishing a large (1000 page) document. The document contains links to external pdf files. Pages with the links were imported from MIF files. The MIF files contained the statement (openlink ../drawings/xxxx.pdf). When the full document gets published, the openlink command ends up as (../../../drawings/xxxx.pdf). For some reason extra ../ are added to the creation of the links. We are using nested book files. If we just publish 1 page of links, everything works (../drawings/xxxx.pdf). We publish the entire section we get (../../drawings/xxxx.pdf) and the entire document gives us (../../../drawings/xxxx.pdf) any ideas?

Hi,I'm working with FrameMaker 2017 Release (German edition) on Windows 10 Version 1803 and Acrobat DC Pro. When printing to Adobe PDF Printer, FrameMaker shows up with an error message"The chosen standard printer is not compatible with FrameMaker. (Can not ask for Escape 768.)"This is my translation of the German error message "Der gewählte Standarddrucker ist nicht kompatibel mit FrameMaker. (Escape 768 kann nicht abgefragt werden.)"As standard printer Adobe PDF Printer is configured. What could be the cause of that error message? I've already done two "Repair Acrobat DC Pro Installation", which didn't help.Thanks, Thomas

Simple Issue: Put a side head on the body pagesCreate a new (blank) document.Switch to the master pages.Select the main text area:Open the text frame properties.Check 'Room for Side Heads'.Click 'Apply'.The master page looks like this:Switch back to the body page.Assign the master page to the body page.It still looks like this:Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.Additionally, one has to switch to the Column Layout and check again 'Room for Side Heads':Why this double work? Is it a bug?Btw:Changing the sequence will do it in one step: 1. Check 'Room for Side Heads' in the Column Layout. 2. The master page has been changed automatically!What did I miss?
