FrameMaker

Hello, all.I'm using FrameMaker 2015 in a Windows 10 environment.Since yesterday, FM has been crashing repeatedly and consistently when it reaches Appendix A in a book file that I am publishing to HTML Help (.chm). I have successfully published this 275-page file, and the entire 570-page book file, to .chm many times over many months. The problem does not appear to be the Appendix A file. My coworker just published it to HTML Help successfully. Therefore, the problem must be with some aspect of my FM installation or setup. Why would it suddenly choke on a file that it has processed, with no problem, for months?All suggestions gratefully received.

is there any way by which we can convert ar argument tag in to a table.

I've noticed that when I have a document open and docked to the UI, whenever I use Ctrl + Mouse Wheel to zoom, it undocks the window and I have to redock it. Is this a known issue or something wrong with my install of FrameMaker 2017?Tahnks,Quintin

In my FM2017 document there is a cross reference to text in a table column which has a hyphen in it.Example: column 1  | column 2--------------------some loo- | ...oong text | ...The cross reference in FM looks correct, with no hyphen if the line is long enough.Example:see "some loooong text" on page 123In the generated HTML5, however, the hyphen shows in the original position, although it is unnecessary here.Example:some loo-oong textThis effect occurs both with an automatically inserted hyphen (by FM itself) and with a soft hyphen (CTRL + hyphen). Any ideas what else I could try?

Is there a way to get a quote for FrameMaker 2017 (I currently have it) and AcrobatDC for a full year. Currently I have it that way and pay on a monthly basis. My company is now going to reimburse me, and is asking for a quote for a PO.

How can I find out, if a paragraph is inside a textinset?Is there any (hidden) property, that can tell me?

Has anyone experienced this behavior when working with XRef's? When I insert an Xref or open a map that has Xref content the initial Cross Reference menu displays, when I click External Xref button FrameMaker begins to cycle with no response, then I get an Authentication prompt, when I click Cancel it continues to cycle for some time until it finally shows the DITA External Xref screen. This behavior only happens when I initially open the application, after its been opened and cycles once I can insert Xref as usual.FrameMaker 2017 - Structured

I have a single source FM2017 project that uses several conditions. There are tables that have one or two conditions assigned to them, depending on the output variant(s) they should appear in. The conditions are assigned to the anchors, which works fine for PDF. But in HTML5 output the tables don't show up. I have also tried assigning the conditions to the table cells/rows/columns instead of the anchor or in addition to it -- no success.One thing I noticed is that when the table does not show, the HTML contains a paragraph with the class of the anchor (t_tabelle_anker😞When the table does show, the table has content (t_tabelle_kopf) and the anchor does not appear:

Hi all,I have a client running on of my ExtendScript scripts on a 3000 x 2000 display and he says that the ScriptUI dialog boxes display very small. The script runs in Adobe FrameMaker so I am not sure if this is a function of the target application or ScriptUI in general. Are there any know issues with ScriptUI dialogs and hi-res monitors? HelloI am more or less new to Framemaker, but i try my best.i am writing at the moment a standard for our manuals. I use the conditional tags to set the complete Manual in different Languages.Like one Tag with Englisch and one Tag with German and so on...When I set a Tag to a table then the table gets these cross borders. like this (thid id just an example)Normaly this border isnt visible when i publish the manual but unfortunatly at the las page it is visible. and not only this. the same happens with a grafic border. normaly you dont even see a black border.Does anybody know what the reason for this is?Thanks for your helpMarcelBTW before Framemaker is used Word for all our manuals but it just takes to much time...

All of a sudden when trying to print a doc i get: Cannot print because the selected default printer is not compatible with FrameMaker. (Cannot query escape 768.) What has happened? Solution???????

I imported a Word doc for a client into FM 2015. Then he had me make changes  and save as a revised doc and wants to see the changes. when I try to compare I get a dialog that says documents need to have uniquely named flows. How do I do that so I can compare the two?

Having just finished editing an HTML version of a recent FM book (using VIM,) I was pleased with the blue color of all the cross references. This lead me to wonder how I might color all the cross references in my FM files so they appear distinctly blue.Perhaps this is an ignorant question, and cross ref coloring is simply a matter of identifying the paragraph tags used throughout the text and changing the font color. I guess I'm wondering if I can safe some work and do this in book mode. Thanks in advance. ~Don Spencer

Per my supervisor's request and as a part of continued education credits, I am searching for a training class on how to structure manuals. Specifically orations and procedures manuals. I have yet to find one in my search. I have already taken classes for FrameMaker as well as a technical writing class. The technical writing class was more geared towards the business side of technical writing, such as proposals, memos, etc.If anyone knows if such a class exists, please let me know. I thought someone here might know. I appreciate the help. Thank you.

I recently had to replace my HD as it died. I need Framemaker 9 on my computer but no longer have the disc. Are there any downloads on Adobe.com or elsewhere?

Freshly upgraded to FrameMaker 2017, my trusty fudging-fix tool of "Special/ Delete Page" seems to have been, itself, deleted.Plenty of articles about deleting master pages or blank pages -- Can anyone tell me how to delete a non-empty body page?[The specific circumstances:I've copied a group to dozens of pages, consisting of a table nested within a text frame nested within an anchored frame.So, some weird botch has it all messed up on one particular page.Yet, when I delete all the items, then insert them again (whether by pasting or entering manually), it pushes the group one page down, so that the following page is always empty, then the dozens of pages picks up again.I just need to delete the wretched botched page, so I can proceed.]

When I resize my browser window, the content of the HTML does not resize. Is there a way to do this?

Hi, I have a book file. In chapter 8 there is a list of references used within the book. Within the book there are cross-references to each paragraph in chapter 8.My question is, does anyone know of a plugin or tool that will check for "unused" references in chapter 8, meaning the paragraphs that are not linked to a cross-reference.Thank you!

I have a document where I have rotated the page clockwise to be landscape because I want to fit some tables into it. My problem is the text and the table are now aligned incorrectly, I want to flip them by 90 degrees but still keep the landscape setting. When I try and do this now it just mucks the layout up.See attached screen shot.

I have some tables that are too wide to put in portrait mode, so I am inserting a horizontal master page to cope with this. I have looked up a tutorial and it takes me through the steps to rotate the page clock wise, then it says to delete the existing frame so I can insert a new one that will have the text flowing in the correct direction.My problem is I can't select this text frame. I have no idea why. In the tutorial I am watching she does this effotlessly. I don't even get the indicators (little black boxes), that I indicates that I can select it.Do any of you have any ideas why I can't select this? I've checked that my document isn't locked (the padlock button next to the printer).

Has anyone used this software? Someone sent me the link and I have tried the demo. I have Interleaf (QuickSilver) files that I want to convert to FM files. I continue to get errors and have yet to make a file at all. Yes, I have made it an asci file, I have saved as version 5, 6, and, 7.Right now I am saving my files out as interleaf 5 and opening them in FM, but there is quite a bit of clean up and of course I have to get every graphic out by opening a pdf in illustrator or photoshop, cleaning up the graphic and saving them as the appropriate file. Was hoping Filtrix might be a miracle tool...lol!!!Anyone know of this software or a better way of converting from Interleaf to FM?FM9XPAll available patchesThanks,ls

Adobe FrameMaker 8 is not working on windows 10 OS. Please help us to resolve the issue. We have already try some setting like compatibility mode but no luck.
