I have just discovered - is it only on my system? - that F1 (Help > Help Topics…) does not do anything.This is an installation from the TCS6-suite with a registration key lasting until november 2017 + the update.Previously I had the last beta-version installed (which was the same as the published: 14.0.0.361 - just no ReadMe file available) + update.I had not checked then, so I can not say, that there was no problem with Help.My system is W7 x64Can this problem be confirmed by others?Klaus Daube

Hi Frame developers,when I enter Japanese text in structured FrameMaker, I see the intermediate KANA text (dotted line below typed characters) and pressing SPACE converts it to KANJI. (I do not know Japanese but that's what it seem to happen). Whenever the cursor moves or the user does some input, my C-API plugin handles its FDK events and accesses the text and selection. But that harms that intermediate KANA text and I see strange things happening like splitting the current XML element in two parts or converts the KANA text in a wrong way.Can I check, if there is currently intermediate KANA text at the current location? In that case I'd like try to disable my functions and re-enable them when KANJI conversion has finished.Environment: Windows 7x64, FM Release 2015/2017. FDK 12Any ideas?Greets,Knut

Hello, could someone help me with next problem?Fm12 problem.Script goes through book, opens file, saves it and then closes it. This operation is executed for all files in a book.Problem occurs after 110 - 120 file is processed. Either FM crashes completely or finishes, but book is closed and not all files are processed.I could attach the book and script to simulate the situation (in the case folder c:\temp, has to exist, log will be saved there)Thank's a lot for any help.

Is there a way to create a "Master Document" (along the lines of a Master Document in Word) such that the master document will automatically import dozens of smaller FM files at specific places in the master document to form a new composite document.The specific use-case is where you have a technical manual for a product and want to include several (sometimes dozens) of sections that provide generic descriptions of some features, intermingled with product-specific sections. I have the commutication suite 5.0 installed. I use the frame maker version 12.0.4.445 since 1,5 years. Since this week I have display problems with the user interface.I unistalled and installed only frame maker. The version 12.0.1.331 was installed and everything looked good. Then I searched for updates and installed the version 12.0.4.445 and the problem recurred again.

I've tried closing (anything that remotely looks like AAM), and rebooting. Trying to look for FrameMaker updates. Won't let me, says Adobe Application Manager is already running. I am rather new to ExtendScript, and working on a structured DITA FM document. In our tables, we use a background colour to highlight a specific type of information. Of course, this shading is contained only in the FM data, and is lost on roundtripping. For the <entry> elements of the cells that we want to be shaded, we have set the @outputclass=bgcolor.Now, I am trying to use ExtendScript to locate the elements with the appropriate attribute, and then apply the custom shading. I can't figure out how to get the shading applied once I find the element. I'm running FrameMaker v14.0.0.361 and whenever I try and create a pdf file it gets hung up.  I end up having to kill the application through task manager and try again but nothing seems to get me through my issue. I have limited access to my laptop and being able to change system settings. This is a new version for me but not new to this laptop. The laptop is new and came with this version of FrameMaker. That's probably not relevant but I thought I would share.I'm running Windows 7 and have 16gb of RAM.

See the snapshot below. The space where the blankspace is inserted, is the point where the heading text wraps in the FM editor. How can I eliminate this space in the bookmarks?Please help, thanks.

I found more features you all have removed—as a FrameMaker user of 20+ years—I am not happy. I rely on FrameMaker's fast and quick features to do my job. I run several different departments for different companies (all of which I have had them purchase FrameMaker each time, thousands of dollars)—now you are removing features have helped make my job so fast, making us have to do more clicks than necessary, etc.Please do not just remove all of our features? Another list of features we need put back please:Windows that stay “On Top” and are able to be docked into the pod—almost all the windows I use and keep “On Top” throughout my work day (and dock them back to the pod when needed), the ability for me to keep them On Top are now gone. Now I have to constantly open & close these windows all day, which costs in my word processing time. Please bring back the ability for us to keep ALL our features On Top once again, just like in FrameMaker 2015. When can this be done? I am struggling us

Is anyone aware if future versions of FrameMaker will ever be compatible with a Mac? I used to work on a Windows computer, and I really enjoyed using FrameMaker to create Install/User Manuals. I work on a Mac now, and I am just wondering if it will ever be available with a Mac.Thanks!

I am puzzled as to how to approach this.I have a annual subscription to the Adobe Technical Communications Suite, but I also use a MacBook Pro laptop. I understand most of the products in the suite are not available on OSX, but I really want to use Adobe Captivate.I can start a trial of Captivate 9 but since I don't have a serial number to activate it, what can I do?Is there any way to use Captivate on my Mac under my existing subscription, I really don't want to pay another $30 a month for a product I am already paying for.Thanks in advance for any information.

Graphic placed at the front on the master page continually placed at the back when switching to body page, and therefore hidden.Not sure if it's possible to attach the FM file in question, if it is I'll gladly do so.

In FM2017, sometimes when you copy and then try to paste the text a few pages away by using the < and > icons to get to that page, the text doesn't paste but "Go to Previous Page" is pasted instead. This is very annoying to have to cut/copy and paste several times before it works. Also, I use a lot of text insets, and occasionally I want to override the master document formats and use the option, Retain Source Formats. This no longer appears to work - the formats in the master document override the table formats in the text inset.I am also finding that it takes repeated attempts to do simple things in this version of FM. My FM still does not display correctly when I use remote desktop from my iMac to my Windows laptop. I've had to resort to using a lot of short cuts, because if you attempt to click on a menu item like Tables, it jumps over to another menu item.I hope there is an update to FM soon to clear up buggy stuff. I used to be able to see a marker icon in my text (index entries), the indicator is gone now, invisible, but the marker is still there and I can select the invisible placeholder. How do I display the markers in my text - FrameMaker 11?

Seems like there must be an easy fix for this. There was no error message, the windows all went weird though. Have been using FM extensively for half a year, first problem like this.I did do a computer restart.Thank you.

I recently received the 2017 version of FrameMaker and am trying to use the Track Changes feature. It allows me to turn it on and it works. However, as soon as I save a chapter in the book, the "Enable" button is still grayed out as if it is enabled but it no longer works for any chapter. I have tried saving and closing the chapter and saving and closing the entire book and the "Enable" button is still grayed out but the Track Changes isn't working.

Windows 7, 64 bit operating system. In Frame 2017, when I click in the footer to change the version number for example, the text increases from 8 point to very large point such as 20 point. This can happen just by putting the cursor on the version number, and occurs in many documents. The footer is all controlled with a style and there is no extra return or space with a large font. I fix this by clicking "default font" in the character catalog.Similarly, when I delete some 11 point text in the body and then undo what I just did, all the text comes back in 36 points!  Pam

Running FrameMaker 2017 v14.0.1.406 on a Win 7 desktop PC, I've had several instances while editing body text in an unstructured document when the selected text may or may not be highlighted, but inadvertently changes font size (when all I was attempting to do was select it for editing). The font size changes have ranged from obvious (and far too much), while in other instances, they appear completely imperceptible (CTRL + Z to undo - and the Edit menu displays options to Undo FontSize Change or Redo FontSize Change). I may have missed it, but I haven't found anything in FrameMaker 2017 resources regarding the FontSize Change feature. Has anyone else run into this issue? Thanks.
