Hello,When I selected the Show/Hide Conditional text in framemaker 10 at a position in my template the tekst is changed with the selected tekst and my cursor is standing at the same position.When I used the Show/Hide Conditional tekst in framemaker 2015 the position of the cursor in my document is changing to a strange point.How could I get it solved that my cursor will stay at the same position wenn I'll selected the Show/Hide Conditional tekst.WKR, Lambert

When trying to format my Cross-References I would like to add tab stops so that the format for the TOC works with the Cross Reference.  For example my format on the Reference pages is<$chapnum>-<$paranumonly> <$paratext> <$chapnum>-<$pagenum> With tab stops before the chapnum, between paranumonly and paratext and the next chapnum.  so the end result should look like4-16             Digital Vertical Speed - Primary Mode................................ 4-28Help?

There has undoubtedly been a time when my FM 2012 workspace included a nifty option for a list of 'styles defined in document' that made it easy to weed out unwanted definitions. Sometime since, this option has mysteriously vanished; and I cannot retrieve the same functionality from the menus: how do I get it back? Hints and tips welcome!

We are planning to use our existing infrastructure for our XML-based solution. As part of this effort, we are planning to let R&D use the Adobe Framemaker XML Author to contribute/edit the DITA files. Adobe Framemaker XML Author in the Author view looks like a form that the R&D just needs to fill up and not bother working with the tags. However, I noticed during my search that Framemaker XML Author (Author View) does not let us edit a DITA concept topic using its forms interface. I can edit DITA task, reference, and topic (<!DOCTYPE topic PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DITA Topic//EN" "technicalContent/dtd/topic.dtd" []>) topics using the Framemaker XML Author (Author View). My team has been using FrameMaker for several years for training materials. Win7.Our standard print process was always to save to PS file then distill.However some time ago we discovered that live hyperlinking (either within the document or to internet) would not work from PDF when using this print process. Not sure why, was never able to solve that. (Yes, we had bookmarks enabled.)So we tried other methods and started using save-as PDF instead with the same overall settings. This solved the link issue, but somewhat randomly we have another problem:If all of the documents in the book are not OPEN explicitly before saving the book as PDF, There may be a (seemingly) RANDOM repagination of one or more documents (chapters) within the book. So the book PDF output will have duplicate page numbers, i.e. 74, 75, 76, 75, 76, 77, etc.Obviously no good.Framemaker's random failures under different processes is extremely frustrating. I'm always holding my breath hoping I don't miss some NEW failure

I need to create a link to a .pdf in FrameMaker 7.1. The first part will be the install path (which could vary depending on where the customer installed the product), but part of the link will always be the same (the directory where the .pdf is installed).This needs to work on both Windows and UNIX operating systems.Thanks.

We are outputting HTML5 from FM 2015. The source .fm file is parsed into HTML5 topics at the Heading 1 pgraf style, so the text at the Heading1 becomes the name of the resulting .htm file. For example, the Heading1 “Tuning the Sound For Your Room (Trueplay)” becomes Tuning_the_Sound_For_Your_Room_(Trueplay).htm. If we change the Heading1 text, the .htm file for the topic has a new name. For example, “Tune Your Room With Trueplay” becomes Tune_Your_Room_With_Trueplay.htm. This is a SEO problem because now two topic files may appear in search results:The old one: Tuning_the_Sound_For_Your_Room_(Trueplay).htmThe new one: Tune_Your_Room_With_Trueplay.htmIs there a way to decouple the topic file name from the text at the paragraph style where the topics are parsed?   Or, is there a way to make the old topic file re-direct to the new topic file?Otherwise, we have to keep a list of every Heading1 where we changed the text and manually redirect the old .htm file to the new .htm file.

I am using Framemaker 11 and wish to mark some text (e.g. 'Contact us'), with a relative link. As an example, the absolute link is https://online.test.com/mds/support/contacts.html, but the root is going to change, so with the root being https://online.test.com, I go to Special->Hypertext and select 'Go to URL' I need to enter a relative link here, so I enter: /mds/support/contacts.html. I tried it, converted my FM doc to webhelp via webworks ePublisher, and the link was dead. Apparently FM does not accept relative links, or does it? Am I doing this incorrectly? Do I need a different syntax?, do I need to upgrade FM to get this option? Please advise.Thanks for any help you may provide.Cheers,William

I've just installed a trial version of FrameMaker 2015 on Windows 10 on my Dell laptop with screen resolution 1920x1080px.I'm having the "tiny fonts" problem that has been previously-discussed for FrameMaker 12 (thread "Menu fonts and symbols are too small after FrameMaker 12.0.4").However, the recommend solution (checking Preferences/Compatibility/“Disable display scaling on high DPI settings” in the FrameMaker.exe shortcut) does not work. Is there something simple I'm missing?Thanks!

Hello ,I have just opened an old (FM12) file in FM13 and all the Graphic Frames have a black border set around them.All the settings are set to 'None'.The only workout at the moment is to set the frames to white, but I don't fancy doing this over a few hundred files.Any ideas?

Hello,I am using Framemaker 13.0.2.433 under Windows 7.I have defined paragraphs for notes, warnings and cautions that use an autonumber at the beginning, so that I will have Note: and Warning: and Caution: in front of my paragraphs. And the content of the paragraph I wanted to not be underlined (so the rest of the paragraph does not have the underline setting), so I defined it like in the screenshot below:In framemaker it looks fine but if I save it to PDF using RGB setting it prints out a small underline in front of my paragraphs, see below:But if I print using CMYK setting it doesn't print this line:But I really need to print my files using RGB setting, so can you please tell me why if I use RGB setting it prints out that small underline?

Hello,I am working with Fm 2015. I want to publish a Fm book as a WebHelp document, this works fine but there are images that don't appear in the output. When I save as a pdf however the ouput is fine. Its two images of symbols that are repeated throughout the document in tables, they indicate warnings and tips.Any ideas and suggestions to resolve this?Thanks,M.

Attempts to Save As Review PDF - Enable commenting in Reader fails.Results in "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found" error message.Which is weird considering that this action was initiated from within the document itself.Acrobat Distiller IX is installed, yet receive this error message:"Error opening PDF file! Please check if you have correct version of Adobe Acrobat (8.0 or later) installed."Was successful with one FM file, but have tried five other similar files, and receive the same error on all others.What would be different about the one file that was successful? All files were created the same way about the same time as one of a series of about 220 files.Checked document properties and haven't found any differences.

How can I keep page numbers from breaking across lines?  For example, 1- on one line and 23 on the next?  There is no space between the characters (1-23), so no way to add a non-breaking space.

Dear all,For real debugging the breakpont mechanism is not helpfull in many cases:Breakpoints work as intended for scripts which run in the ESTKAs soon as FrameMaker is involved, things become more complicated:As long as I can invoke functions from within ESTK it works as without FMAs soon as a function is called via menu, the  breakpoints do not halt execution.Therefore I have used a mechanism logging each entrance into a function (and the leave) and Alert/Console statements in the code.Stopping at a breakpoint and tip toeing through the following code would of course be a more elegant method, especially with the Data Browser open.It's my impression that the ES engine in FM does not know about the breakpoints set in ESTK.Are my expectations to breakpoints wrong or is it just this way?

Framemaker 10 won't open. Says "License expired."

I just moved to Windows 10 running on a high DPI screen. My Tech Comm Suite 5.1 apps have microscopic user interfaces on this setup, whereas my older Adobe apps are just fine.Any ideas? Upgrading to newer versions of the software is not an option for now.
