I have been frustrated in attempts to file FM bugs at bugbase.adobe.com. I fill out the form, enter the random characters of the CAPTCHA code, there is a delay, and then a message about a CAPTCHA error. It turns out the problem was my attempt (in more than one situation, months apart) to attach test files to the original bug report. There is a field in the form for making attachments. If I specify an attachment, I cannot file the bug. If I leave out the attachments, I can file the bug and then immediately modify the bug by making attachments, one at a time.I have filed another bug asking that the form be clarified to explain when attachments can be added.          --Lynne

I was just upgraded from Framemaker 10 to 12. According to the About screen, I have 12.0.4.445.Things generally seem to be working as expected, except for one strange anomaly: the spell checker in Frame 12 considers the word "Add" -- capitalized that way, not if it's all lowercase or all uppercase --  to be misspelled. Not only that, but when I click Learn, it responds "You cannot add Add to a dictionary. To add Add to a dictionary, first deselect the corresponding Find setting in the Spelling Checker Options dialog box."Obviously, none of the conditions in the Spelling Checker Options apply to "Add", but I tried toggling all of them from their (all default) settings anyway to see if it made a difference. It did not. Other than this, the spell checker is not triggering on any common words, or otherwise behaving strangely.Has anyone encountered an oddity like this with Frame 12? Hi,    I have a three-page 2015 document. The bulk of each page is an anchored frame that contains two side-by-side graphics. On each page, either the top or the bottom of one image is missing. For example, on the first page, the left image should be the same height as the anchored frame, which is not quite 7.5". It seems that the image is cropped about 1.5" from the top; I get the larger, lower portion, but not the top. On the other two pages, the problem is with the right image in the pair, and it is the bottom that is missing: about an inch high section on page 2 and half an inch on page 3.   This version of the document is unstructured. The images are taller than the anchored frame, so I expect them to be cut off at the borders of the frame, but not in the middle.   The document prints correctly to my local printer.   Any ideas about how to fix the problem?             --Lynne

Hi all,We're currently in the process of publishing some of our service manuals in HTML5 format for web/mobile device usage.We seem to have sorted out most issues but one remains.We want to be able to click on an icon or text on the HTML5  page and open a PDF (wiring diagram) as a separate document in Acrobat Reader.I can't seem to find a way to make this happen other than by editing the HTML code post-publishing (a href).Is there a way to encode this action from within FrameMaker 2015?Thanks in advance,Adrian Cherry

Trying to find out why the code below is not deleting all files from the target folder.After some test it appears that only graphic files (jpg, png, gif) are being removed, skipping pdf, txt, eps, doc, docx, etc.Have you seen this happening before? ‌Hi, I'm hoping someone has a solution for me. After upgrading to FM 2015 (at great expense, I might add) I'm finding that imported MS Word  files (doesn't matter if they are 2003 or 2007 files) are getting nailed by Frame's new import dialog box. These are scientific documents, so they are filled with italics, superscripts, subscripts, and so on. No matter which options I choose in this fancy new dialog box, all this character formatting is gone. You can imagine my frustration at having to either 1) manually hunt for chemical formulas, Latin phrases, etc. and retypeset these properly, or 2) abandon FM 2015 completely and do the layout in FM 12, which preserves everything beautifully. Spending an hour with tech support was a waste of time.Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you solve it? Thanks in advance.Gail

I am creating a Mobile App. The Glossary icon appears but I am not using any Glossary markers.I would like to hide the Glossary icon. I went into Setting > Style Mapping > General Settings and set Glossary Style to Nine but that did not hide the icon.John

Is it even possible?The closest I've gotten to it is about 2 steps shy of actually applying the custom masterpage.Fcodes([app.GetNamedCommand("MasterPageUsage").Fcode])This gets the dialog box open but how do you choose the custom masterpage by name and apply it without opening a dialog box?And on the flip side, if a custom masterpage is already set, how do you change it back to the default, "Right"?Cheers

I am currently testing out (unstructured) Framemaker 2015 for my company. We develop manuals and instruction guides for machines. I have purchased the Framemaker: Creating and Publishing Content by Matt Sullivan. However, there are a few things that I really need to know before I can give an accurate verdict on the program to my superiors. 1. How to caption images properly? And subsequently, how to number those captions? I've tried with text frames and using the paragraph designer, by adding in "Fig. <n+> - \t" but every time I create a new text frame, the second caption is still labeled "1." I've also tried with text lines, but that didn't work. I even went to Format>Documents>Numbering and selected the paragraph option to continue on with numbering or whatever (I do not have the program on my current computer). The book barely touched on this at all and the brief blurb that was written didn't help explain the process to me. 2. Creating Object Styles: When applying an obje

Hello,I noticed FM removes any indentation when working with XML files and they become very hard to read with a plain text editor. FM's XML View has the Pretty Printing option which indents the text very neatly but as soon as I make any changes on the file, the indentation is gone. Is there a macro to automatically apply Pretty Printing when saving files?Thanks!

Is there a way to add simple back and next buttons to the header? I've set my CSS up to give me company logos etc, and the breadcrumb links, but breadcrumbs only allow you to go back (hence the name). I thought I saw a post on this before, but an hour of scouring yesterday failed to find it.

I've created a FrameMaker 12 document of pages with a special appearance. After hours of work juggling paragraph tags I've got the Table of Contents looking like I want.When I "Publish" it to a Microsoft HTML Help file (a chm file), the topic pages look the way I want. The Contents panel on the Help file looks the way I want!BUT... There's a "ribbon" across the top of the page window. What is this? Where did it come from? And most important --- How do I get rid of it?

I have heard advice (opinions) suggesting that the FrameMaker 13 (2015) Parse Structured Document functionality is dated and not always reliable. Does anyone have experience with a trusted SGML parser that supports Unicode, for checking markup before delivering it to my customers? I understand nothing is 100%.
