FrameMaker

Hi Team,     Since we are giving service support to another company we only have the .exe of the adobe tools (Captivate,Frame Maker 8,Design Premium)which is licensed but we don't have ALWS or creative cloud login.So is there any tool from Adobe for MSI creation for the above tools other than CCP.Please helps us in this regard as soon as possible.Regards,Jain 

I removed Ver 8 prior to install but I get an error about a previous version being installed that must be removed when I try to isntall Ver 9.I had tried to download the trial version at one time, but aborted the download because the files was 1 GIGABYTE and there was no progress bar or any indication of progress so I thought it had stopped. How do I clear registry of previous Presenter versions?

HelloThe FM Log Console started appearing in FM10 on Win XP. I've never seen it before, ever! Did I somehow enable some kind of debugging mode? the message says:Id tb_structured is already in Use, assigning ToolBar_9 instead.TIA,orlando

From a FrameMaker 11 book, I want to extract all the imported photos and graphics and put one on each slide of a PowerPoint presentation. This way our trainer can present the photos/graphics to our trainees in person and quiz them on what is shown including the callouts.Any idea how to do this? Or a different method for accomplishing the same training goal? Thanks!Becky

I have a massive publishing program with tens of thousands of pages in unstructured FrameMaker 8  files. we need to be able to go to print publication, html5, and many E-formats. 1. would it be better for us to use structured FrameMaker?2. can FrameMaker alone handle all E-format outputs?3. Where and how does robohelp fit into this equation?4. We also need to produce PowerPoint slides and other supplements for instructors using our books. Many supplements are direct lifts of content in the frame files. Is there a good way to automate this process Using FrameMaker and/or robohelp? We need to include all tables and provide text bullets.

I am using Frame Maker 11 in authoring mode and have activated automatic change bars. When finalizing the document, I would like to remove the change bars one by one, manually. Unfotunately, some change bars are impossible to remove. When marking the word(s), there seems to be no change bar, but when the text symbol is included, the check box for change bar in "Character designer" is marked. Not with a check mark, but just a colour. By unchecking the box and clicking "Apply", I would expect the change bar to be removed, and it normally is, but in some cases, the change bar remains.Any solution to this problem?Best regards,Lars Sundvall

I have a Mac, Parallels with Windows 8 for simulation, Creative Cloud 6, Technical Communication Suite 5. I use the Mac except when an application is available only for windows.Is there a way to import in Frame PhotoShop and Illustrator documets with automatic link when those programs reside on the mac? (or do I need to install them on Windows)Creative Cloud allows 2 computers. Is it the same for Tech Comm?Can the programs in tech comm use the cloud?Captivate in tech comm can work on the mac. Is there a way to install it there?Tech Comm install a lot of programs on windows. Are they documented somewhere?Is there some good tips about docummentation?Is there a way to reinstall an application? Acrobat did not install corectly on windows (I have it as part of creative cloud on the mac)

I'm giving the trial version of FM 12 a quick test. One thing I noticed right away is that I can't seem to actually open the new Quick Element toolbar. Selecting View > Toolbars > Quick Element Toolbar does nothing except place a (second) Help button in the toolbar. Checking the quick_element.xml config file for the workspace suggests that I should be seeing a handful of buttons for adding standard elements to the open file. Is there another setting that I'm missing?I'm just using the default DITA template for FM 12. Nothing special there.Thanks for any help.     --Steve

This is a weird one.I have a FM 9 file. It's a chapter within a book. It has both portrait and landscaped pages.If I "Save as PDF" from FM 9, and do not check "Convert CMYK colors to RGB," the landscaped pages do not rotate to landscape in the PDF output. That's bad.If I "Save as PDF" the same way, but do "Convert CMYK colors to RGB," the landscaped pages correctly rotate to landscape in the PDF output.Problem: I do not want to convert any CMYK components to RGB.P.S. If I "Print Book" as PDF, the output is correct, but all hyperlinks within the file become inactive, and colors are converted to RGB, which we cannot have.Also, I have experimented with the Distiller setting for treating pages Collectively or Individually, but without any success.Thanks for any insight.

Any chance of getting the keyboard shortcuts back for equation editor in FrameMaker 12?  Also, I used to be able to select text in the equation editor by tapping return (similar to tapping the spacebar to select equation parts).  No longer possible.  Why disable that function?

I am working on FrameMaker 11.  How do I format my run-in heading to end in a period but not have the period show up when I use that heading in a cross-reference? Or can that even be done?

Framemaker version 8.0p277 on Windows 7. I have porblem with this particular book whenever I update book (with TOC, LOF, LOT), Framemaker quites with above error. I have tried some troubleshooting but really cannot figure out what is wrong. Any suggestion? 

Whenever I update the book, chpater 7 gets reset to chapter 1. pls help.

I would like to send someone a pdf file and for them to tell me if FrameMaker can match the structure and layout of the document. Also, I need to know if it will export 11x17 paper format and what that will do to exporting to other formats as well. Dazzle Me! Because I think FrameMaker could really revolutionize what I'm doing. I'm the author of the Parts Manuals at the company I work at and I really want to bring them into the 21st century. Thanks in advance.

Hi, my Fm11 does not have the buttons to change from XML to WYSIWYG views. It only has the WYSIWYG view, and it does not have the Structure Tools,DITA, S1000D menu options.In File>New, there is not XML option neither…. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Hi, I have been using framemaker 11 all these days. From yesterday , I have a strange issue. FrameMaker 11 crashes every time I open a file from a book.I have attached the screenshot of the error I get. Can anyone help  me as to what could be the issue.

We've purchased a bunch of FrameMaker 11 licences. These are the full versions of FrameMaker, not part of an upgrade.We are having many problems getting our FDK plugins and other scripts to run in FrameMaker 11.Can we downgrade to FrameMaker 10? If so, how do we do this?Thanks.

I was lucky enough to win a copy of Adobe Technical Communication Suite 4. But it's for Windows and I have a Mac, which doesn't have an optical drive. Can I download Mac versions of the technical communications suite instead and use the serial number inside the box? (Which I haven't opened yet, I thought I'd better not in case I had to sell it on because I have a Mac, not Windows.)

I have some content in a unit that has a | symbol to the left of it. How do I get rid of the pipe? I've tried View > Track Text Edits > Accept All, but it doesn't help.I'm using FM version 11.0.2.384.Thanks and regards

In the Object Attributes of the Anchored Frame pod in Framemaker, the comments are intact.  When the PDF is generated, some (but not all) of these comments appear.  Help.

Posted in the wrong forum, re-posting here. I have a relatively large book (230 pages) with dozens of tables and 100's of graphics. I need 4 versions of this book. One for each grade level (3) and one if content for all 3 grades is sold as a "master course."  Other than implementing the conditional text, the book is ready to go. I have tried a couple different ways to approach the  tables conditionally (some of which are in Text Frames, some just anchored to a page ) but I don't get very far.  Applying the Conditional Text tags ( with different colors and markers for each)seems to make it crash (i.e. almost duplicatable unlike the "normal" 3-4 crashes I experience on a daily basis the last month that are just random). Sidenote: I was very happy to see that they are going to fix the book printing crash...Cross reference markers are involved in these conditional sections, and I have my suspicions that they are a root culprit of my other crash problems, but then FM crashed
