FrameMaker

Hi All, I am currently using version 16.0.3 of FrameMaker and build version 16.0.0.211 of FMPS. Motive : I am trying to do an XSLT transformation to create a XML file( Task 1 ), which will be used to Publish as a PDF file(Task 2), I am trying to do this via FrameMaker installed with FMPS. Problem : As I have mentioned above that our requirement from FMPS is that I want to execute a sequence of a couple of tasks which are interdependent(Task1's output is Task2's input), but when I am executing the sequence, I am noticing an arbitrary behaviour in the Queue Management system of FMPS as when I am executing the sequence of API calls sometimes what happens is that the task which I request for to run at the end runs firsts and as the tasks are interdependent it disturbs the flow. Any insight on how to tackle this issue. Thanks  

Dear community, I am using FMPS 2020 and I have the following issue:The task ran correctly, Framemaker is closed automatically, however the task status shows RUNNING still and the command window is stuck "waiting for Framemaker to stop". Many thanks in advance,Marc

Hi FrameMaker Community:   I need to add an asterisk to an equation, but whenever I tap Shift+8, a new equation object (a ?) appears. Any ideas? That equation should have a superscript w,* above the subscript t. (Copy/paste doesn't work.)   Thanks in advance, ~Barb  

I can't seem to find any specific clarification on the Help file. Can someone clarify the order in which the Master Page Mapping is applied? In my Master Page Maps I have two rules that changes the master pages based on two specific elements:Element A changes the master pages to ones without headers/footersElement B changes the master pages to ones that have a landscape layoutIf Element A and Element B appear on the same page, regardless which one appears first on the page, the Mapping for Element A is applied. If only one of these elements appear on the page, the correct master pages are applied. Is the mapping applied on a first in the list rule? I.e. for each Master Page Map rule, the page is scanned, and if the Element appears, the rule is applied and no further rules are checked?

I have Geneated a book file as normal,When i go to save it using this name "CW1040-9 ILLUSTRATED PARTS LIST REV 17 - V20A012.book" Framemaker has started to shorten it to CW1040-9.booAfter checking with other files it seems to do the same with standard .fm files (limits to 8 chars + 3)This has only started happening today, I have no idea why, i tried restarting the machine but it still the same.I have tried it in other programs and they are fine (just framemaker). Any help will be appreciated.

Saving document to rtf leaves a list of  fonts at the beginning of each chapter. Is there a way to stop this?

Hi, received an old FrameMaker file, I think from 2019. I inserted a few tables to the document and the tables created 2019 have a grey shade or box around the tables and around all the cells (see the top red box in the attached image). When I zoom in, it looks like small crosses. When I am inserting a table in the file, the table looks fine (see the bottom red box in the attachment). I have compared all the settings and parameters between the two tables and they are the same. Dose anyone have any ideas what is causing the shades?/Magnus

We previously used Unstructured FrameMaker. Our Table of Content was generated using Paragraph Styles. Whenever we converted our documents to PDF and opened the PDF in Acrobat Reader, the bookmarks appeared like this: Clicking on the bookmark would take you to the corresponding page in the document. We have since moved to Structured FrameMaker. Our Table of Content is now based on Element tags instead. When we convert our documents to PDF and open the PDF in Acrobat Reader, the bookmarks appear like this: Clicking on any of the bookmarks takes you to the location in the Table of Content, not the corresponding content page in the document. (Incidentally, clickin on the topic in the Table of Content does take you to the corresponding content page in the document.) We are creating PDFs using the Save as PDF option. Occasionally Framers will complain about TOC links being broken in the resulting PDF. This is actually by "design"; when there is a character property change in the paragraph, the link will not extend beyond the change. Here is a snippet from the FrameMaker 2019 help: That is why you see this in your PDF (links are indicated by the rectangles): My solution is simple: it is a script that simply duplicates the Hypertext marker in each paragraph where ever there is a character property change. This is how it will appear in the PDF: Each rectangle is a separate link, but of course they all go to the same destination. I use FM19 to generate ResponsiveHTML5.In the Publish Settings, I have checked the "Generate XML Sitemap" box, and the file sitemap.xlm is now generated.However, I have also specified a "Base URL of the Help System" - but the generated sitemap.xlm does not include the URL that I specified. For example, an entry looks like: <url><loc>/Manuals/SQL_standards/SQL_standards.htm</loc><lastmod>2021-12-16</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url> I did expect the web site URL to be included here.How can I include that part of the URL?

Hello. I've spent a ton of time getting a .css that matches a book with over 35 chapters. We get the pdf ready for the printer, then publish the same content to HTML 5 for a software product.  For the past number of years, this would happen fairly seamlessly. There would be cleanup of tables, but the overall formatting was good-to-go for the most part. However, when I used FM 2020, the output was radically different than it has been in the past -- the index isn't working (it's showing the Frame code used for the index markers), most of the styles in my custom .css aren't being applied (a few are ie., for body and headings), among quite a few other things.  Previous builds have also only generated one .css, and I'd add my custom .css  tho all the files using regular expressions. Now it's auto-generating three different .css, including one that appears to be for Robohelp -- which I haven't seen in years.-------------------------------<link href="../../rhs

Ok, this pretty simple. According to Sharepoint, we have 260 ish files in a single folder. But the Repository Manager will only show around 200 of them at once. Is this normal/intended? Will it only show 200 files per folder/tree level? Cheers, Tom.

I'm using FrameMaker 2020 (v16.0.2) just long enough to build output templates for the FMPS and AEM XML. I need to be able to hide all <draft-comments> in the PDF output (and eventually all outputs). In our current system, these were automatically hidden in outputs so we've made extensive use of them as notes between authors that are not deleted. I can see that <data> or <data-about> may have been the better choice for this sort of thing, but that ship has sailed. 🙂 Is there any way to hide draft-comments in all outputs? I'm assuming that's handled somewhere in the EDD.FM file. I found where the draft-comments are defined, but I'm not seeing any place obvious to set the output to "hide". Is it in the outputclass setting?

Running Version: 16.0.0.754I am trying to add in new pages to the middle of a document. I go to Insert > Page Break. But no new pages show up. Is there something wrong with my FrameMaker or is there another way to add pages?

We use inline MathML equations in some of our DITA topics. Up until recently (I switched computers but set up the same environment in FrameMaker and Distiller), the inline equations appeared inline. Now, they appear below the line with the insertion point.Is there a setting I missed?Any help appreciated. I've attached 2 image files showing the same content in the published (working) copy and the most recently generated version.We're going from FrameMaker 2020 (16.0.3) to PDF.Help, please. This just doesn't make sense to me and I'm now just repeating searches I've already done twice to find the culprit. Wanda

Hi,In my FDK client, I have a costume dialog box (main dialog box) that clicking one of its buttons opens another custom dialog box (second dialog box) while the main dialog box is still open. What I want is that when the user clicks OK in the second dialog box, it closes just the second dialog box. But when the user clicks the OK button in the second dialog box, FrameMaker closes both dialog boxes. In my "F_ApiDialogEvent" function, I used the "F_ApiClose" function and passed it to the second dialog box's ID. But, the result was the same; pressing the close button closes both dialog boxes immediately. Any help regarding this issue will be appreciated.Sanam

Does anyone know if the zero-day exploit affecting the popular Apache Log4j utility (CVE-2021-44228) that was announced on 12/9/2021 will affect Adobe FrameMaker, Version 16.0.3.979?

I edited the style mapping in FM and it didn't work. I edited every CSS I can find in the output folders and subfolders (by opening in Notepad). The links are all still blue. Any ideas?

I use FM 2019 to publish as pdf, responsive HTML5 and chm. My FM book consists of a number of FM files. Most of the files are just fine to have as one HTML page each, but a couple of them turn out too big as HTML. Can I somehow have just these big FM files split into many HTML files? (Typically I'd have one HTML page for each "Heading1" paragraph style.)  

When I publish to HTML5 Indigo output, the landing page TOC icons are picking up the names of the source FM TOC and document files instead of Heading 1:  Then if I select a landing page topic, the right aligned TOC shows the names of the TOC and source doc file as H1 and my heading 1s are sub-topics:I have no idea how to fix this, any advice would be greatly appreciated.-Bill 

Hi there! I am on FM 2020 structured XML, with FrameScript 7. In order to address an apparent bug, we need to explicitly set the FM workspace. (This is because, if the Structure View is open, running a script on our books always launches a popup asking to save structure.fm. I don't want to save structure.fm and am not even sure if that is a file that exists.  But this hangs the run.  So I want to set the workspace right at the start to one that does not have the Structure View open.). According to the FrameScript doc, the command is:Set ret = eUtl.SetWorkSpace{fm_workspace}; where ret is the return code, and fm_workspace is the name of the workspace. We have tried:Set ret = eUtl.SetWorkSpace{Struct_noStructureView}; Set wrkName = eUtl.GetWorkSpace{};or justSet FMWorkspace = eUtl.SetWorkSpace{Struct_noStructureView}; But we always get the error: "FrameScript: Run Error (Invalid Property) on command (SET) at Line (17) -- which always points to the
