Every launch of InCopy CS5 on a Win7 x64 machine I get this crash error.Today, this is new (ObjectModel.dll)Yesterday is was public.dll. I uninstalled InCopy, cleaned up the hard drive and reinstalled it. The crash persists. Does anyone have any ideas to try?
I can figure out how and when do masterpage or InDesgin layout elements, document grids, primary text box sizes, etc. show up in InCopy while writing. All i find is "you can view you indd layout directly in InCopy"but how do i do that?Am i missing a proper introduction to this?Basically i have just created a icml, imported it into the master text flow in indesign, gave the masterpage a background color and a new margin. Then i open it up in Incopy again and see no layout changes in the layout view.So i read about assignments, if i export an assignment the layout is there, the text flow is missing but its window gets a grey background color which i havent set.
Hi, newbie here. How come Adobe applications don't support the native full screen mode that nearly all other professional software on the Mac does? I usually have many applications open, each in their own Space. I have to do a silly workaround to work with IC, but it's still covering some of my smaller apps that I like to keep in my main window.
I received an InDesign assignment, made my InCopy edits in the indd file, and now want to return the assignment to my designer. However, when I go to "package" in the InCopy dropdown, both options "Return for InDesign" and "Return for InDesign and email," are grayed out and inaccessible. Should I give up on InCopy and try to do it in InDesign? I've never packaged files before (first time doing it remotely after years in the office on a common server). InCopy has never been a problem so I'd rather go forward with this. Any suggestions?
Wondering if we have to buy an older Mac to be able to continue using InCopy CS5.
Hello all, I have an odd issue when exporting InCopys from InDesign. The export seems to run smothly, but when I check the InDesign and InCopy after, I do not have any content in the newly exported InCopy file and the textframes do not have the little world-symbol. I basically only have an empty InCopy at the end, and content files which are completely seperated from the InCopy file. That Issue only appears when working on the Server and I am the only one with that issue. Has that happened to anyone else before?
Hello!!Where I work we have a very collaborative way of writing, we have writers in house and remote writers that work together in the same project, which means that we have people (in house and remote) working in the same InDesign file simultaneously, using InCopy to add/edit content in different stories. To do it successfully we need to keep communicating with each other every time we check-out/ check-in stories, not to risk overwriting content (this has happened before and it is incredibly frustrating for writers and designers. What causes this problem is that most of the time InCopy does not show that a story / an assignment is in use (checked out) by someone. So we have had overwritten content because one writer checked out the same story that another writer was working on.Can someone please suggest me solutions to avoid this to happen, or tell me how to fix this connectivity issue between InCopy and users this way all users will be able to see if a story is in use or not in a
I am trying to enable this feature but it is grayed out. How do I select this option? Puzzled.
We have been using InCopy successfully for a couple of years. We have a standard workflow where the Designer exports all stories to InCopy and the editors access all stories by opening up the InDesign files via InCopy. We all recently upgraded to Mac OS Catalina and in doing so all upgraded our versions of InDesign and InCopy to 15.1.1 (all are running the same versions). With the same workflow applied, the editors can still check out stories and make edits, but can no longer check in stories regardless of which way they try to it (Edit>Check in All or from the Assignments panel using the icon at the bottom or in menu list). Also, when closing the InCopy file and prompted to check in all stories, it still does not work, but additionally, we get a "Save stories" prompt as well, which is not usual for InCopy. On the designer side, they can open the InDesign file and see the checked out stories with all the changes (so changes so far have not been lost), and they are able to update the
When I started attempting to work with my designers' InDesign files in InCopy, it gives an error that no stories were found, so I think my designers just don't use stories at all. Must they in order to work with me via InCopy?Screencap here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/am86by01tb2kpdv/Screenshot%202020-07-17%2010.31.01.png?dl=0 Thanks!
So everytime I open Incopy it gets worse. The panels on the left keep getting larger and there's no grab bar showing up to pull them back when. The toolbars on the top and bottom are now blank. I am running v 15.1 on a brand new machine. I did have the newest version installed originally but it was doing the same so I uninstalled and installed a previous version hoping it would be better. It was for a day. Anyone have this issue and know how to fix it?
When I open InCopy, my toolbars look like this: No matter what I do, I cannot fix this:Issue presents in 2018, 19 and 20 on Windows 10;Resetting the workspace has no effect;Toggling different workspaces has no effect;Dragging toolbars works for some toolbars in single session but when I reopen InCopy, it's back to this;Trashing prefs works for the first open, but subsequent opens return to this;Uninstalling has no effect, it opens like this;Creating a new workspace and checking panel locations has no effect on restart;Snapping the window to top or side in Windows 10 has no effect;Adding and removing different size and resolution monitors has no impact; It really looks like the padding in each bar is set to something ridiculous. Does anyone have any ideas about this? Gratefully received!
Hi everybody,I suspect that this is a trivial error, but we have been struggling with it for over a month. A remote editor was editing an InCopy document we had sent them, and one day, they started getting this error. "Unable to check out this file it may be in use by someone else" I am attaching a snap of the InCopy > Window > Assignments window. The editor also commented "When I right-click on a crossed paragraph, there are 4 possibilities : go to content; make it appear in the explorer; open the assembly; user. I tried all of them, it seems it does not go far. After clicking on 'go to content', there is the same message ( "impossible to extract the file, it is maybe used by someone else") when I tried to edit the text. I tried to change the user, but nothing worked." Any ideas?
Hi,When in story view I'm missing the bottom left box where you can adjust the font style, size and line spacing.I've tried right clicking the text (still in story view) while this does change the font style. But I can't then do the same when I try to change the font size.Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Hello!I would like to ask you how to turn off this yellow background of styles in Layout View? I need to see only "dynamic spelling". Maybe somebody can find the solution. Thanks! Dariusz
We publish a newsletter that is created in InDesign with links to articles created in InCopy. Suddenly, not all of the articles show up in the Assignments panel, although all have the globe/arrow link and all show up in the Links panel.
I need to uninstall the app from my computer and it won't let me.
Hi. When I add or delete an endnote in InCopy, the endnote source page, the page with the endnote text at the end of the document, does not properly update. For example if I add an endnote after endnote 9, and jump down to the endnote source page with the endnote text to paste the new endnote information, endnote 9 has moved down to the endnote 10 spot and endnote 9 is blank. It requires me to cut endnote text from endnote 10 and paste it back to endnote 9. Then I can paste the new endnote text into endnote 10. If I delete an endnote, for example, I delete endnote 9 and move down to the endnote text at the end of the document, the "number" 9 deletes, but the actual endnote text is still there. Is there a fix for this bug? It makes working with endnotes in InCopy virtually impossible and fraught with errors.
I am trying to figure out how to rotate the layout view. We have a pamplet that folds up and the text is oriented in different directions on varying panels. When I click Object > Transform, none of the rotate buttons can be used (they are grayed out). Am I missing an improtant step to make this an option? Thank you.
I have made a form for InCopy. The idea is that editors can copy this form and fill it with new information from different clients. Ideally, the writer should not need a designer to create the same document. Rather, the editor can copy the document into a separate folder and fill out the form. The problem comes when I copy and create a new document, it is still bound to the original tasks and stories thus modifying the original document. Is there any way that an editor can relink those files without the need of InDesign? Could you please help me with a solution?
Hello,I am using the InCopy/InDesign workflow between designers and editors. My editors open our Indesign files through Incopy with assigned stories. One of my editors copy does not flow the same as it does for me. It is puling the correct assignment and we see copy chanegs happening but it flows different on her screen vs mine, it shows to have run over text for her but fits fine on mine. We are working over BOX Drive cloud server but all files are up to date and no one is in them at the same time. So I do not think that is the issue.Any ideas why this is happening? If I open the InDesign file in InCopy on my computer it looks just as it does in my InDesign version. She also has the fonts installed so no missing font issue.Any help woudl be welcome, thank you.
We've tried using InCopy with InDesign with our writers and it saved us so much time, but we also create a lot of assets which are charts-and-illustration-heavy in Illustrator, that also have a lot of copy. So I'm wondering if there's a way to use InCopy with Illustrator? If not, is there an alternative other than InCopy that works with Illustrator?
