I learned today that neither inDesign nor inCopy allow for changes in footnotes to be tracked. I searched this forum and other places and just couldn't make any sense out of it. So, why the hell can't I track changes in footnotes? And why can't I comment either? Footnotes often are an integral part of a book containing full sentences, so why not treat them like normal content when it comes to tracking?? I just don't get it… please, will someone hear me and add this in a new version!?(if someone has found a workaround, please let me know, too - thx)
I am new to InCopy but followed all the steps that should work in this case. I hope someone can help me.The workflow:A copywriter creates a new .icml in InCopy in which he writes a new text.A designer places this .icml in the main InDesign file.In the links menu the .icml file appears now and you can check out, edit and check in or simply edit the .icml in InCopy. When I want to assign the .icml to the assignment to give the copywriter full control of the entire article, nothing happens. I can either use the drop down menu to associate it with the assignment or simply drag it into the panel. But nothing happens. It does not appear anywhere but in the links panel. What am I doing wrong?
So... I thought I'd give InCopy a try as I am looking for a program to write things in that I can copy into AEM, Wordpress etc. But after a couple of seconds I discovered that Ctrl + Backspace doesn't work the way it works in almost every other program I have ever used. This is stunning. And what's even worse is that the way it does work (deleting to the right) covers about 1% of my use cases, while I delete to the left almost always. It also doesn't make much sense, as the backspace key is meant to go left. It's called the BACKSPACE key for a reason. Ctrl + Del should absolutely delete to the right, which does work too. Which brings me to another point why this makes absolutely no sense at all: The backspace and Del key are 2 cm apart. Why do you need to have two keys, 2 cm apart from each other, assigned to a rarely used feature?Have I simply not found a way to enable standard behavior or can anyone give me an explanation why InCopy behaves the way it does? From what I found InCopy i
I recently bought a new laptop and installed InCopy, but the word count I usually see at the bottom of my window is missing. I already tried resetting my workspace, changing my display, trying a different workspace, and going to window---copyfit. But none of that worked. If I knew what the tool was called and where it was in the menu, I could just drag it out and place it myself, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Used to be that the Interface preferences had a tick box for turning the mouse-hover tooltips (may be called article pop-ups?) on or off, but I can't seem to find that anywhere. Is that still possible in Adobe InCopy CC?
My character and paragraph menus get wider every time I expand them, when they're anchored to the side or free floating. I've recently anchored them to the bottom, but they're still not quite right -- taller than they should be. They are also completely illegibly blurry when floating or on the side. Anyone else experienced this or know a fix? I'm on Windows 10 on an HP laptop. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling but it didn't help. Using CC 13.1 x64.
Using InCopy CC2014.2 Release10.2.1.103 BuildSometimes the default for typing within a note is italic.Any way to fix/change this? Thanks!
The design team I am a part of collaborates with content creators and project specialists that sometimes need to make a simple edit and make a final PDF to file on our server. We have specific PDF settings we would like them to use for that PDF that is to be filed. BUT they cannot access PDF presets as you can in InDesign. We believe PDF Presets is a feature that should be added to InCopy. Please help, Adobe. Thanks.
Hello,I don't know where to put in a feature request for InCopy, so I thought I would start a discussion about it.The design team I work on collaborates with content specialists and project specialists that make minor edits and need to make a PDF to file on our server. We have a specific PDF preset we use for all the low resolution PDFs used for viewing on our server. We would like to provide such a preset to our InCopy users so they won't always need to come to the design team to simply make that final PDF.H-E-L-P!Adobe, please make presets available for download and choosing within the InCopy environment. Thank you.P.S. Does anyone else have a need for this? Please chime in.
is it possible to use Creative Cloud Libraries with inCopy?
I am doing a Lynda.com course Learning InCopy. All was going well until lesson 2, when I had to open one of the exercise files ''story.indd' and found that although it opens all the text is greyed and a little window informed me "because this document contains no InCopy stories, galley view and story view are not available'. I can select the various 'stories' on the spreads shown but cannot edit them. I have contacted Lynda.com but they say they have tested the exercise and it works fine for them. They advised me to download the latest version of InCopy, but I have that so that can't be the source of the problem. Any ideas? If I am having this problem with a 'test' file I fear I may have it with real jobs (I am a freelance editor)/
Hello:I have edited hundreds of stories in InCopy that I exported from InDesign for a document. How do I now import them back into InDesign? I tried to relink but the edits are not there. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Is there a way to remove ONLY the 64bit version of InCopy through command line? I've been researching this for the past couple days and every attempt has resulted in both versions uninstalling. The Creative Cloud Packager claims to be able to do this, but even though I specify only 64bit when I create the uninstall package it still removes both.We are trying to streamline our reference image creation process and our only option right now is to pause the task sequence and manually uninstall InCopy 64bit. Is there a better way to do this?
I edit/proofread for a friend who writes in InDesign. I subscribed to InCopy to do so, but I can't see how to open it--or the InDesign file he sent me.Help! Thanks.
Hello! I installed myself a trial version of incopy. With many already figured out. But there is one question.I need to integrate the data of one incopy material into an indesign document into several different pages in such a way that the styles of each of the insertions with the same contents are different. Is it possible to do this with the use of only one material incopy?
Hello,Every app on every OS has a way to traverse/select and delete whole words to the right and to the left of the insertion point. E.g. InDesign/Story Editor/InCopy allow you to traverse[/select] words to the right by Cmd[+Shift]+Arrow Right and to the left – with Cmd[+Shift]+Arrow Left. InDesign and Story Editor also allow you to delete words to the right and words to the left with Cmd+Delete and Cmd+Backspace. But, most unfortunately, and contrary to InDesign, Story Editor and all other apps on Earth, InCopy acts erratically when one tries Cmd+Backspace or Cmd+Delete: sometimes they delete a word to the left, but sometimes they delete a word to the right! This is me hitting ONLY Cmd+Backspace:This is me hitting ONLY Cmd+Delete:I have checked CS5.5 and CC2018 (13.1) on OSX10.11. Is this a known bug? Am I missing something?Regardsm.
¡Ayuda! ¿Alguien sabe cómo solucionarlo?
Via E-Mail is very complicate and the files are too large. Dropbox causes mistakes (can't check in/out some text-frames any more …). And then it's complicate to deal with the amount of files: Where to save the assignments-file? Do I have to make a package or not? Do I have to make an assignment or no? Export directly or no? That's too complicate. Especially for my client (which is the text editor) which is using InCopy. I just want to transfer the permission to change the text in specific text-frames (or all) to my client/text-editors and save/transfer again to me. This works all over the CC. And I get istant notification if a specific content has changed and if I want to load this in my InDesign-document. That's all. Do I have to update to a team-licence to have this?Or do I have to save the files into the folder "Creative Cloud Files" in my user account? If yes, which file? Thanks!
For some reason, when I open an article the "No Break" feature is greyed out.Any ideas on how to make it work?Thank you in advance.
Hello! I am new to InCopy and have been enjoying it thus far. But I have not been able to figure out is how to display the page numbers of my book in Galley View. After exporting it from InDesign into InCopy, then opening up the indd with InCopy and going to Galley view, I cannot see page numbers. As I send multiple proofs back and forth with my authors, this would be very helpful as I reference page numbers in queries all the time. Thank you for your time!
The Norwegian help menu (Hjelp for InCopy | Bruke tekstmakroer ), which is a translation of the English (https://helpx.adobe.com/incopy/using/using-text-macros.html), states that Text macros are found under "Windows -> Text Macros" (in Norwegian: Vindu -> Tekstmakro). But I can't find that option in my InDesign (version 13.1 x64). Is it something I should have installed, or is there any other way to ccess the Text Macros?
Hello, Is there any way to display Tracked Changes, Notes, or Dynamic Spell Check in Layout view in InCopy CC 2017? I can imagine why Tracked Changes can't be in there, as it wouldn't be able to fit in the finite space of the layout/design, but I'm hoping at least for the other two! I've activated them all for Galley/Story, but it won't show up in Layout. Thank you for your time!
When I'm editing in InCopy, blocks of text disappear for several minutes before reappearing. The most recent edits sometimes aren't saved. Why did this start happening, and how can I address it?
Hi ...Occasionally I need to locate unwanted hyphenation in text - because I am not the one who created the Paragraph/Character styles. Some hyphenation is identified in existing search search parameters as:- Discretionary Hyphen- Nonbreaking HyphenDoes either of those refer to hyphens inserted by the style into text?InCopy limits my ability to create situations where I can test that.I have searched for the hyphen character, but it doesn't seem to find ones inserted because of the style and fit - only ones that have been keyed in.Is there another name or symbol set I should be using to search for these? Thanks,Rob KYour post moved from Adobe Creative Cloud to InCopy [Moderator]
In InCopy it's possible to place notes inside a text. But if the editor wants to say: Please make the image darker and sharper, how to do this? It's not possible to place notes on an image … Thanks!
