I'm about to setup a workflow with an editor for new project, which involves her to sign up for a sole InCopy CC monthly subscription. I wonder: does this license also incorporate the use of Adobe Bridge?
Hi Adobe Staff,This message is especially for you. I already wrote to the german chat support. Very horrible and incompetent. Sorry. We and the editorial office of monthly magazine and organized a new workflow with InDesign and InCopy. Yesterday we finished the project, but it was a bit horrible. The magazine has roundabout 124 pages or 180 pages. Lot of information and roundabout 300 / 400 pictures. I am the designer and i organized the workflow in different categories. These categories are also the tasks for InCopy / InDesign. There are roundabout 3-5 editors which work with InCopy. Two or three editors in the office, two editors outside the office. That's the reason because we had organized all files in a dropbox account and every worker has access to this central cloud server. The workflow is good, but the problem is, that InDesign or InCopy crashes constantly if we refresh one or more tasks, boom. Its very horrible, and we made every 1 or 2 hours a backup from the indesign file. i
Hi All,We are using InCopy workflow for InDesign XML files. When I try to create the assignment for all stories from InDesign file, the stories was created only for XML tagged child text frames. Stories not created for main text continue text frames. When I delete the tag for tagged child text frames, stories created for all main text frames.Anyone suggest me how to create the assignments for all frame include child and root element tagged text frames. I have attached screen shot for your easy reference.InDesign File:
Does InCopy CC 2016 have a libraries panel as in InDesign?
Want to create a multiple column layout for incopy users for sizing and visualization of copy, as this application is new for the editorial department who have been using word in the past. Have made template in indesign but have to export selection and that links to incopy file and can't be resaved as new content. Any help would be great. Thanks
Hello, Anchored text frames from InDesign do not show in Story or Galley view inside of InCopy. You only see the anchor icon, and not the text to edit. In order to edit that anchored text, the editor seems to need to know to go into Layout view. Is this correct behavior or is there a setting where a user can see and edit anchored text inside of Story or Galley views?
I'm trying to place and link an Excel spreadsheet to an InCopy table. Adobe Support available at the following link ...InCopy Help | Creating tables states..."If you want to maintain a link to the spreadsheet, select the Create Links When Placing Text And Spreadsheet Files option in File Handling preference settings."Although this Create Links option is available within the InDesign edit preferences dialog box, it is not available in the InCopy dialog box.I'm using InCopy 2017.0 release on a Windows machine.
Hi there,I have formatted a 224 page catalog using master pages for each section and it includes multiple InCopy Stories. The file is 224 page not broken out into chapters. I have linked boxes, one image that is anchored to every text box and repeated on every page and I have created a generated index which pulls the titles from each page to create the index. This mean that every title on almost every page includes a “tag” so that it can be included in the generated list.I have tried splitting up the stories so each section has 20 stories or so, and I have also tried making one “long” story that includes 20 pages. Either way, InDesign stops responding.I do not send stories out as packages. They are accessed on one central drive and the InDesign files are also on the same drive. There are only two editors that access these stories, besides myself. I don't think it's an InCopy issue but it might be. I have tried for several months to figure out this issue but have not been successful. Du
For a extensive project I'm trying to come up with a smart workflow. There'll be a short moment of time where I have to weave in the content with the design in an effcient way. One strategy I'm looking into now is starting with a very basic 'catalogue' layout I make in Indesign for the image/ text editors to fill in with Incopy. My plan was then to link that same content to the actual layout in a different Indesign document.A first issue I bump into: when increasing the image in the real layout to e.g. a full page image, in the catalogue design that image also becomes large within it's image frame. Question: is there a way to disconnect this layout information from the incopy file?I reckon it's a handy feature, also if you'd like for instance to make both a horizontal and vertical layout based on same Incopy input.
Hey,I'm running the latest Indesign CC 2017 and Incopy CC 2077. When I export an incopy file all text default to "Ignore Text Wrap"Please Help.
I have InDesign and InCopy CS6 Version 8.0 on one computer and InCopy CC Version 9.0 on other computers. I'm having a lot of difficulty working on individual documents in InCopy. On one of the InCopy CC Version 9.0 Computers, the software isn't correctly identifying when the document in the assignment is copyfit. On another InCopy CC Version 9.0 Computer, the changes made aren't saving and then can't be seen on other computers with InDesign and InCopy CS6 Version 8.0. Is this because of the differences in the software? Is there a way that I can fix this?
I think I've exhausted every place I can look for this on a PC with no luck. On a Mac you can simply right-click on the document's title in the tab, however on a PC I can find nothing similar. If anybody knows a way to do this I would be very happy to be enlightened - and if there is no way I'll be glad to add it as a feature request. Thanks in advance!
How do I notify editors of updated assignments? My editors are doing many other things and only open IC for our projects. How do I notify them that their assignment is updated? Do I need to email them, or is there an automated system? This is all I could find on Adobe's site:Notify users when an InCopy content file is outdated, being used by someone, or available for editing. Notification methods include alert messages, frame icons, status icons in the Links panel, and status icons in the Assignments panel. It sounds like users need to somehow KNOW to check the assignment file on the server...Thanks!Melissa
I'd like to share my solution for this as it was driving me insane for the period I could not resolve this for a user. SymptomsOn opening any Incopy file in CC, exporting the file to PDF would cause a software crashThe PDF itself would still be exported despite Incopy crashingEvent viewer did not show anything outstanding as the main culprit for the crashesExporting to PDF in CS6 was fine, while exporting in CS7 was also fine. SolutionClose any instances of InCopy you have running Head to the AppData folder for Incopy in the directory<username>\AppData\local\adobe\InCopy and rename 'InCopy' to InCopy.oldHead to the AppData folder for Incopy in the directory<username>\AppData\roaming\adobe\InCopy and rename 'InCopy' to InCopy.oldRestart the machine and attempt to export to PDF once more.Again this is what worked for me and it may not work for anyone. But I thought to make some documentation as I could not find this anywhere on the web when doing my investigation. Hopefully p
Hi,We find Adobe InCopy very effective for our editors in editing article text for our magazines. However, we find it only usable with the Crosstalk plug in which effectively removes the complexities of assignments and the check in/check out process. We can't work without it as it makes the whole process so much more complex and time-consuming when we don't need the workflow benefits that it brings. However, the last Crosstalk update was for CC and since their website hasn't been updated since July 2015 I fear that this will no longer be an option for us which puts us our 15 InCopy users in danger of going back to manual editing. My two questions are; does anyone know of an alternative plug-in to Crosstalk or (preferably) can a simple version of InCopy be used without assignments and checking in/out, etc.?I appreciate any help.Peter WatkinsonKHL Group
Can I set up a digital production workflow that incorporates the Creative Cloud subscription version of CC2017 InCopy (Mac) with a designer using CC2015 InDesign (Mac) and a writer using a stand-alone version of InCopy (PC)?
Let's say I'm writing an article in InCopy and there is a place where I know that I want a pie chart inserted. Can I include some kind of command so that when the InCopy work gets flowed into InDesign, InDesign goes and gets that pie chart and puts it where I want it?
I want to do a search/find on the linked text in a large file. I'm unable to so without unlinking all the text, or searching the articles individually. Does anyone know whether there is a way to do this without unlinking the text files?
We're having issues with InCopy CC17 crashing while the app is closing. It's happening on multiple machines, so it's probably not a hardware issue. I should note, that we just upgraded to CC17 from CS6 and I'm still using my InDesign template and .icml links originally created in CS6, so this could be the issue...Anyone having similar issues? Is there a fix? Thanks in advance for any help!
Hopefully what I'm trying to achieve here makes sense and if anyone has a good idea of how to make it work I'd love them forever! So I work for a company where part of our job is creating multiple newspaper adverts from similar content. All have the same terms and conditions at the bottom of the ads. If these T&Cs change, which happens frequently, I wanted to use InCopy for this text so that the change would immediately update over potentially 100s of ads. It works great for that but the only caveat is that, in the middle of the T&Cs is a date range that is custom for each particular advert. Is there a way of pulling text for the terms from the ICML into InDesign but being able to somehow manipulate that one part of the text (the date range) without having to create an icml for every single ad which kind of defeats the point!Hope that makes sense and and assistance would be gratefully received!
After you accept/reject any edits made in either InCopy or InDesign, the change and all history seems to disappear. Am I missing something?
I want to set up my InCopy file so that others on my team can edit and re-position graphics. In InCopy, when I click on the graphic box, then go to File > Check out, the "Check Out" command is grayed out. Does any one know how to check out a graphic in InCopy? I have exported the graphics as assignments.
Our team is on Creative Cloud. We also have Dropbox installed on all machines to share our assets. When I create and add workflows within InDesign/InCopy, how is that person notified. I have read through documentation and there seems to be no easy step-by-step answer.
Hi everybody,I had purchased InCopy CS6 some time ago (2013) with one-time payment in advance. This is TLP Licensing Programm if this is any help. Recently I had to reinstall it. Now I cannot register my product because the only option that I have after downloading InCopy is to buy a new monthly paid subscription. The problem is that all I have is serial number which I don't know what to do with and I wouldn't like to pay for this software again by buying new subscruption in Adobe Creative Cloud.Does anybody know how to register my product? Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
I'm new to InCopy, but I have some experience in InDesign. I've recently taken an interest in InCopy, specifically for my editing work, and wish to learn more about how it works in conjunction with InDesign and how I can best utilize the Story and Galley views. However, I've noticed that while there are an abundance of InDesign resources, blogs, and websites on InDesign, there are very little on InCopy. Can you recommend any useful resources for getting started? I already have subscriptions to Lynda and InCopySecrets.
