I've tried some codes on the internet and they all failed. There doesn't seem to be any online for individual tables.A. I am trying to clear the table style “Preferred Options”.B, cell styles “preferred options”, “non-custom style properties”.C. Paragraph styles “Preferred Options”.D. Just starting to work with this feature and I wondered if these files can be exported with crops and bleeds into Adobe Express so the end user can export to print. 

I am writing a script in vbs for InDesign CS5 in Windows, and cannot find how to clear cell attributes not defined by a cell style in a table. I need this when importing tables from MS Word.

Thanks to everyone that replied to my question about making the size of document smaller. The "Save As" worked. Problem solved. Now I've got another problem, trying to delete the 1st 6 pages. Look at Chapt2_Orig_page1.jpg. Notice the 1st paragraph in the left column: "Let me start off saying I’m a Navy Brat. Exporting a reflowable epub, and while I have discovered that epubs will not retain paragraph shading styles how I want, I can't get the workaround right. For context this is my InDesign file: I would like to have a section of text called out with shading. I've inserted the paragraph as an anchored object and set up object styles for the text box to have a fill color. I also set up the epub/html settings to export this at full width: But my epub is coming out like this:  The text is reflowable, but running of the page in the epub file. Any ideas on how to fix this?? Is the anchored object/object styles not the best work around for shading? I'm working only in InDesign, not much CSS knowledge otherwise. Appreciate any help!

Hi Community, I'm having the issue where my image on the lower layer still appears on top of my pop-up windows that are on higher layer. Would anyone know what the issue might be? Thank you so much

This unit of measure is copy/pasted from another doc - mm2. The 2 always needs to be superscript. I have tried looking up grep styles but haven't found a way to make it so that the 2 is superscript. Basically, need to do a find/replace for all mm2 and make it be mm2 (superscripted 2) Is this possible?

Today is the first time my indesign app keeps crashing everytime I open my cloud file. It worked fine yesterday, and now the file will crash the app.  

I have several pages in my INDD document with a solid fill color. After I export the file to PDF, I can see the background color in the preview screen but when I open the PDF, none of the pages with the background fill show it. Please help.

I created an ePub which looks fine in Kindle Previewer.The ePub has certain words in bold and certain other words in blue.For this i used character styles My client used Kindle Create, but all that formatting has been lost.How do i ensure that the words always appear in bold /blue everywhere? I understand that to target paragraphs you can use classes. How do you target character styles?

Hello. Is it possible to export a PDF from InDesign and disable all hyperlinks, so that they are not clickable from any reader at all?  I do see that there is an export option to not to include any hyperlinks/interactive elements, but that doesn't work everywhere. For example, I can make the link https://www.adobe.com unactive (unclickable) when viewing the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, but if I load the same PDF in the Chrome browser then the hyperlink is active.

I currently have InDesign files for each article (because the articles are often a stand-alone piece as well) placed inside the main InDesign file for Issue 1 (this was honestly the most logical solution for their situation and how they use their articles and case studies individually and in publications). IS THERE A WAY TO:have hyperlinks' style (underline and color) show up for the digital version when I export the main Issue 1 InDesign document to an interactive PDF?have the hyperlinks' style (underline and color) NOT show up for the print version when I export the main "Issue 1" InDesign document to a print-ready PDF? ...these two things without having to create separate versions (and digital version and a separate print version) of each placed article? Thanks!!

I am currently working on a book with about 16 documents and literally thousands of cross-references. Every time I open the documents, there are 5-12 broken cross-references in each document. I fix them all, and the next time I open the documents it might be the same ones broken again, or it might be different ones. For example, there might be three specific pages that are "problematic," and many -- but not all -- cross-reference (across all the documents) pointing to those pages will be broken. I fix them all. Then the next day, maybe the same 3-4 pages or maybe a different 3-4 pages will be problematic, and many -- but not all -- cross-references pointing to THOSE pages will be broken. Nothing about the source pages has changed.  Does anyone know why this might be happening? Or what I can do to prevent it from continuing to happen?  The project is nearly done, so I'm considering just ignoring the broken cross-references for now, and then having that be m

How can I get transparant text with the black around it? 

I'm using indesign 4 & win 7. I have a 47 page document I'm trying to break into several smaller ones.  The original document is 45,420 KB in size.I copied that document and renamed it to Part1.  Not the original and Part1 are the same size. I open Part1 and delete from pages 8 - 47.  Now Part1 is only 7 pages in length, text and pictures.  I save it out.  However, it is still showing 45,000+KB in size.  Same size as the original 47 page document. I went to the last text block, using the selection pointer, I double clicked on the larger square box  to try and delete any text that Part1 might be holding on to.    With the Show Text Threads turned on, the is nothing connected to the out port of the last text box on the last page.  Save Part1 again.  It's still showing 45,000kb. How do I shrink this document down to what it should be, my guess would be about 1/5 of the original size or 9,000KB.  

Hi, I'm using version 20.0.1An indesign document I was just working on all day today crashed at the end of the day and I lost my work because nothing had autosaved. When I relaunched and tried to open the file again I got a message saying the pages could not be found and do I want to postpone recovery. I clicked yes to recover the document later. I've not been able to recover the recent version. The file in the folder is showing last saved this morning. I have gone into the file on my C drive where supposedly it is backing up to and I see DBT and DBS files from before the crash, but cannot work out how to open these to see if the work is in there? I have tried copying them to another location and trying to open them with indesign. I've also tried putting .indd at the end of them before doing this... Also, I can't figure out why autosave is not working. I went into Edit>Preferences>File handling but there is nothing relevant in there that I can see? (Image below).Fo

Hi, I am having difficulties with cells in a table keeping their assigned alignment when they are dragged onto the canvas.I created a table and assigned alignment for each cell to align the copy vertically centered. When the table is off the canvas, it aligns correctly.When I drag the table to the canvas, the vertical alignment does not function as expected. (I expect it to continue to be aligned correctly. ) There are rows that align top or bottom even though they are assigned vertical alignment center.I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Any help is appreciated.

Hello!It's great with the new upgrades in InDesign, but the question is when will you make changes to the insertion of footnotes! The ones we use now are outdated, i.e. with limited capabilities. Why don't you use the solutions of Word and QuarkPress, which have a large range of choices for inserting footnotes. Is that difficult or does it become something else.And one more thing, is it possible to insert the Cyrillic Macedonian alphabet when creating an index. I’m experiencing an issue with Creative Cloud documents not updating in InDesign. To clarify, this is specifically about Creative Cloud documents, not Creative Cloud Files.I’m using InDesign 20.0.1 x64 and Photoshop 26.3.0.To test this, I created an InDesign document and placed two Photoshop files:One from my local drive.One that is a Creative Cloud document.I then edited both Photoshop files.When I reopened the InDesign document, it correctly detected that the Photoshop file from my local drive had changed and updated it accordingly. However, it ignored the Creative Cloud document. Even though the image in the document was outdated, the Links panel still showed it as "Up to Date."I understand that support for Creative Cloud documents in InDesign is relatively new, but I haven’t been able to find any information on whether this behavior is expected or if it’s a bug.Any insights or solutions would be greatly appreciated!
