InDesign

In dumping some text from Word into ID, not a good practice I grant, I noticed some strange differences in the para marks that I have not noticed before. I have done an attached screenshot and annotated the various marks. The usual para mark I see in automatically entered text is the one in the green circle. However some of the para marks are bigger and examples are the red circles. I then noticed that the paras ending with the red circle mark leave slightly more leading before the last line (which of course I don't want).And then I see there is a third variety in the clue circle.The para style for all these paras is identical and very vanilla, separating the paras with a 3mm Space After.I would be grateful for an explanation of the different types, whether I should/could change one for another, and how to correct the 'last line leading' anomaly with the red circles. 

Hello! Since I've been using InDesign 2025, the software automatically puts numbers in brackets (e.g. (8)) in superscript and I can't figure out how to deactivate it. Clicking on the superscript button doesn't work to change the character back to regular body text. Has anyone encountered the same problem?

I am primarily a developer with limited knowledge of InDesign but I have run across a problem that I have attempted to solve in multiple ways but have yet to figure out.  We have documents in four languages.  The English and Spanish documents accurately export to HTML and PDF.  But when it comes to Chinese text, I have some issues: 1)  If I export a document in simplified Chinese to PDF, the text appears correctly until I copy and paste it, it then reverts to traditional Chinese when pasted to a new dopcument.2) If I export the document to HTML, it only displays as traditional chinese. This seems like a font issue.  The traditional chinese documents uses a font called MHeiHK and the simplified uses a font called MHeiHKS.  Those fonts are referenced in the InDesign document and appear in the css of the respective documents: MHeiHK in traditional chinese and MHeiHKS in simplified chinese.  I have used both legacy HTML format and the newer HTML

I have Split Document (EPUB only) selected and it's not holding when split document based on paragraph style export tags is selected. Anythoughts on why?

I'd love to be able to rearrange blank document presets in InDesign.   The four options that show on the new document popup are presets that I'll never ever have to use (Letter, Legal, Tabloid, Letter-Half). I'd much rather re-order the presets to show A3, A4, A5, A6 first etc.     <Title renamed by MOD>

We are an advertising agency and work with an imac mini (model A2816) with Sonoma. We work with Adobe programs. Unfortunately, the Finder crashes very often. This usually happens when we place files like images from our server into an Adobe program or drag data from the server onto the desk, but also simply while working. All programs crash and the Finder. The Finder cannot be restarted either, so we have to restart the imac. We've tried everything but nothing helped. Unfortunately, a reboot on Ventura is not possible. Anyone else having these problems?

Is it possible to find character text, e.g. Italic, and convert it into text written in “quotation marks”?     <Title renamed by MOD>

I can do para return, shift par return but not move copy to new column. It'a driving me potty. Don't want text boxes full of returns, Do I need to make 3 text boxes for 3 columns rather than using a shortcut in one box????

Hello after the newest update in my Indesign, Adobe Stock&Marketplace is not opening in the Desktop App, its only showing a white screen, in Web App its working fine. I have tried to install again InDesign, but it seems that it have not been working. Could you help me Please?

Hi,I have a circle of 8mm and I would like to write a number inside it from 1 digit to 3 digits.Single digit will be in different font size, double digit in a different size and 3 digits in a different size. The issue I am facing here is that I can see lot of space inside the circle but the moment I increase the font size, there is a an overset text. I have also changed the baseline to fixed. Screenshot and idml attached. What can be done to increase the font size without overset text. I am planning to use Numbering list option to populate the numbers inside the circle. Thanks

Hi,  I am having issues with inset spacing and my text boxes within Indesign 2024. There is a small space between the left edge of my text box and the beginning of my font. I have all inset spacing set to 0, there are not settings in paragraph style, I have checked for hidden characters. Is this maybe something to do with the font? ...when I am trying to align different text boxes with different sized text they do not actually align because the spacing at the start of the text box is different. Grateful for any advice. Including screenshots of issue, text framing settings and paragraph style. 

Hi,I had a 'export to PDF' problem. I made a color change in Indesign 2021 Big Sur (MBP 2019 16"). When I exported it to PDF it did not include those changes I made. I tried it multiple times with no success. Same color as before I made the change. Except when I first saved the IND file (local). Never had this problem before. I do a lot of (press) printing. So I'm getting very nervous. Anybody recognize this problem?

Hello everyone, I really need help getting the old 2021 16.4 version of InDesign. I already messaged the support, but no help by them. Is there really no way to get my hands on the older version? Prodesgintools just refers to the support sadly. Any ideas?Thanks!

I have a brochure which used to export fine. Now the blue changes to dark blue after exporting to pdf.

How do I place text upright but under eachother?like this: t e   x     tbut then without the spaces...I currently have this but i dont know how I need to put the text upright:

as you can see the header has plenty of space extra room above and below the word "January" but once i resize the table to remove the unneeded space it says my text is too large. Am I overlooking something? I create tables all the time and never ran into this issue 

Hi,I have created a document in CMYK, and made the layout with images and text. Now I realized it is in CMYK and this document will be used on the web and therefore I would like to convert it into RBG. The problem is – it does not work! I have tried everything I can come up with, but still when I use a HEX color in RGB it automatically converts to CMYK color inside the document. What to do? This is what I have done:1. Checked that every image is in RGB.2. The color profile is set to Adobe RGB.3. The transparancy blend? (not sure on the word in English. It's "genomskinlighetsblandning" in Swedish.) is set to RGB.4. Document settings is set to webb.5. Proofing (korrektur) is off.I get the error warning that the transparency ("genomskinlighetsblandning") is set to RGB and that I should change it, since the layout contains objects that has got a CMYK color. But the problem is that I want to give these objects a RGB color, but as soon as I do that it changes automatically into RGB.Please, I

I currently have a 1 book created with let's say 5 documents.  The title for this book is for example ALL. In the page templates of the documents the header section states you are reading the ALL book. Document 1 of 5 I would like to hold the master pages, for the other documents to follow. So it would have the other 4 documents show ALL in the header for example. Now. I want to create a second book called Mini.  Mini will have its own first document of 3 and use only 2 of the same documents that ALL uses. However I want the documents to say in the header you are reading the Mini Book. Is there a method to have the page template take information from another document rather than in its master pages section within the document?   <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi FolksI found this post addressing my issue of generating QR codes without the padding. However, the problem in INDD2025 now is that the padding vary depending on the amount of information.Is this a bug? Can it be prevented? Tom

Ho un documento di Indesign con una finestra di testo dove vado ad inserire delle informazioni su di un articolo tradotto in più lingue.All'interno di queste lingue ci sono alcuni valori che si ripetono sempre uguali, ad esempio la dimensione dell'articolo che sto descrivendo.Non c'è una funzione che mi permetta di poter inserire questo valore solo nella lingua italiana e trovare il modo che nelle altre lingue vada in automatico a pescarmi il dato inserito?Così che se un giorno devo cambiare la dimensione in automatico me la trovo aggiornata in tutte le lingue...Questo vorrei farlo per diversi articoli, uno per pagina. Tipo la funzione di excel (=A2), che se inserisco questo input nella cella B2 mi inserisce lo stesso valore che vado ad inserire nella cella A2... non so se è chiaro. Grazie in anticipo per ogni risposta!

Dear Community I use the Generate QR-Code option in InDesign quiet often.But it always annoys me that InDesign automatically generates a blank frame around the QR-Code which makes it harder for me to aline with other objects.Is there a possibility to change the settings for the generator? Thank you.

i am working on annual report of 300 pages where on every page there is so many borders to apply on figures  the issue i am facing is when i select 4 rows and single column and apply border to the cell 0.25 pt its fine manually, selected cells when i create new cell style and apply the style on same cells nothing happens the plus sign shows with style name, when option click on style name style applies but the bottom line is missing    now i want to clear the plus sign  when i click on style style applies  and bottom line to complete border what i am missing here. thanks for help     <Title renamed by MOD>
