When trying to change a font using the font pull down menu in InDesign, that menu does not display any fonts; instead, I get this fonts pop-up menu that just sits there and I can't move it or get rid of it. Any thoughts on how I can get rid of it and go back to changing my fonts from the pull down menu?
Just as the title says. When I "alt drag" on anyhting it now duplicates twice instead of once. Its infuriating. It's been happending for a couple weeks so I'm assuming its since the latest update (15.1.2). I've restarted InDesign, I've restarted my computer and I've uninstalled and re-installed InDesign numerous times. Uninstalling and re-installing works very temporarally. But thats it. Right back to multiple duplicating soon after. Has anyone else experienced this and have a fix?
I'm linking an excel sheet to a report that I'm working on on InDesign and everytime I update it the order of the columns change, like reading them in arabic. The text is readable, only issue is the shifting of the columns.
HELP! I am having issues with playing an audio file on InDesign. It won't play throughout the whole indesign online link. The audio file is placed on the 2nd page (there are 41 pages). After turning to the next page, the audio file stops suddenly, even with 'Stop on page load' unticked. This should not be happening. I would like to have the audio file play as the viewer flicks through the InDesign online link. Can someone please advise 🙂
I'm compiling Financial statements and noticed that some cells place as "0" while others place correctly. It seems to only affect cells that have been 'summed' from other cells. See screenshot comparison of the spreadsheet open in Numbers; and placed into INDD. MacBook Pro M2MacOS 14.7 (23H124)InDesign 20.0.xlsx spreadsheet generated from Xero

Does anyone know how to find the beginning or end of a line in InDesign (NOT the beginning or end of a paragraph, and NOT a forced line break) and replace it with a forced line break or a paragraph break. Here's my situation:I have many, many irregular text frames with 5,000+ names in one long paragraph. The complete names are separated by bullets. The complete names are held together by nonbreaking spaces, and the bullets have spaces before them to that the lines can wrap. What I need to do is identify any bullet that comes at the beginning of a line (wrapped automatically) and replace that with a forced line break. ExampleI need to go from this (using the text character symbols):Jane^sSmith •^sJJohn^sSmith •^sKarl^sSmith •^sLarry^sSmith •^sMike^sSmith •^sNed^sSmith •^sOlive^sSmith •^sPaul^sSmith •^sRob^sSmith To this:Jane^sSmith •^sJJohn^sSmith •^sKarl^sSmith^nLarry^sSmith •^sMike^sSmith •^sNed^sSmith^nOlive^sSmith •^sPaul^sSmith •^sRob^sSmith^nI can't find a GREP solution or a Text fi

I'd like to make a feature request.... the ability ot move or remove the home button! (probably ranked one of my top anoying features of Indesign) Currently, I open indesign, there is no home button. Normally, I'll open a document and save a new version.. I open document and click "file>Sav..."... The freakin "Home" button has just appeared where the "File" menu item was, and has closed and saved the document without warning! The "Home" button is not making anything easier... at the very least, have the "home" button visible at ALL times (Photoshop has it in a different menubar), instead of moving the position of main menu items... moving positions of main menu items on the fly, I would go so far as calling that a bug [smacks forehead]. It'd be an interesting statistic to know if anyone actually 'intentionally' uses the home button... of course, you'd have to filter out all home button clicks within the first second or so of opening a document 😉
I'd need to replace all the "m2" in the document with the "m" followed by (the little) apex "2" (Unicode: 00B2). Can't use the glyphs tab because it's not a matter of replacing an existing glyph but to turn a text into another text that ALSO has an unicode character. Very few about this available online.... only me having this need? Workarounds? (p.s.: need to apply a "replace all" because it's a huge amount of pages. Thnx.
Could anyone advise me why my text box has a double border? I have never seen this before.ThanksIan
Hi All, I have a custom open type font and i wants to load this font when my custom plugin loaded so that it won't be available to other user when custom plugin is not there. Is there a way to Embed a font file as a resource in indesign sdk project so that font is available when plugin gets loaded. or some other alternate approach using native system api that I can use inside plugin code to load/unload it. I have a document that has a paragraph style "Caption" that I use for Table titles. In the document, I have Table 1, Table 2, Table 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, and Table 23. I don't know why this paragraph is skipping numbers 3-13, and 18-20. If I open the Find window and start a search for paragraph type "Caption", starting at the beginning of the document, it goes to: <Find> -> goes to and selects text of Table 1 title <Find> -> goes to and selects text of Table 2 title <Finds #3-13> -> Table 2 title deselected but but navigation stays on the same page <Find #14> -> goes to and selects text of Table 14 title <Find #15> -> goes to and selects text of Table 15 title <Find #16> -> goes to and selects text of Table 16 title <Find #17> -> goes to and selects text of Table 17 title <Find #18-20> -> deselects Table 17 text and navigation stays on the same page <Find #22> - goes to and selects text of Table 22 tit
Working in InDesign, when I use the script to import multi-page PDF files, I create the new document at the PDF size. Once imported, I change the doc size to the print size. This would typically center the pages, with the new InDesign 2025, that is not happening. Is there a step I am missing?Otherwise, I have to manually center over 100 pages.
Maybe I'm just inexperienced but trying to style and add rows/columns to tables feels like pulling teeth vs Microsoft Word for example. I'm aware they have different approaches and target users so it's not going to be 1:1 identical but does it feel a bit half-baked to you? <Title renamed by MOD>
Seriously, what is the point of making and using Style Sheets in InDesign when they ALWAYS need to be overridden? <Title renamed by MOD>
When I have my panels-window set close to the right side of my screen and I click for example on the links-panel, it will open on the left side of the panels-window. When I have my panels-window set locked to the right side of my screen (or however it is called) and I click on the links-pnale, it will open on the right side of the panels-window and disapear by half. I'm getting very frustrated. What do I have to do to fix this? <Title renamed by MOD>
I have a very old file which I reuse every year to produce a catalgue. Probably 10 years old - its about 250 pages. Its been working fine until I updated to 2025. Now some text boxes and images are randomly disapearing. Has anyone seen this before. I'm close to printing my cataluge so I can start from scratch. I've just been saving multply copies of my files. Some pages I don;t notice have missing elements until a few days later. Its awful. <Title renamed by MOD>
How can I reduce the file size so that I don't have issues printing? <Title renamed by MOD>
I publish a weekly 4-page newsletter. The information changes, but the look is pretty much the same, so I wanted to spice it up by developing several different color palettes (each with its own swatches), and then applying them on a rotating basis. Is there an easy way of assigning those swatches, without spending time deleting colors and replacing them each time? <Title renamed by MOD>
I started my Mac yesterday after a 2 week vacation, and one of the first things that happened was that ID v2025 was installed. Without my doing. I uninstalled it because I want to keep working with v2024 for the time being. Today, the same... I double clicked a Indesign file, and it opened in ID 2025 – the new version had been installed AGAIN in the background, without me initiating it or even knowing it...Where can I stop this behaviour? <Title renamed by MOD>
I know there have been posts about this but I can't dredge any up. When I close a Book (INDB), InDesign insists on treating it as modified/converted file and a new name or a confirmation to overwrite the existing one. Has this always been the behavior? Is there a point to it, or is it simply an overlooked glitch in file handling? (v20.1/Win11, but I've encountered it since at least v19.x. Don't recall the last time I worked with a Book project, so can't say if it occurred in any prior/less recent versions.)
Anybody came across this issue that seem to have affected installations of Indesign 6.03/6.04. This is on an intel Mac with OSX 10.5.8. Strangely this issue does not affect a machine that has 10.5.6 and indesign 6.01"The network connection was lost for the file QualityAwardsProg09.indd, or the file was modified by another process."This was followed by:"Adobe InDesign is shutting down. A serious error was detected. Please restart InDesign to recover work in any unsaved InDesign documents."InDesign then shut itself down, and the error message came up:"QualityAwardsProg09.indd could not be found. Do you want to postpone it's recovery? Click yes to recover this document later. Click no to delete recovery data for this document. Click cancel to postpone all document recovery until later."This crash only affected the document I was actually working on, the other 3 InDesign docs I had open recovered fine.I came across this article which explains the issue but its the wrong version of OS
