InDesign

In earlier versions of InDesign you could select and object and move it when the red bounding box appeared and you could see the little "move" icon.  Now, I have a difficult time moving anything around on my page.  The program wants me to relink to the image.  So, I hid that function but I'm still having trouble.  Sometimes, when you select an item to move, the blue bounding box appears.  I rarely use that box!  I just need to know what I need to do to move items easily again.  I spent about 5 minutes just trying to move a few images on the page and that's pretty frustrating!  Thanks, Chappy   <Title renamed by MOD>

Ok, this is lots of code for a task that should be simple but I didnt write the API :@This script copies every item on a src-page to a dst-page and doesnt care if one of them is a master-page. I had to write my own map for that and I'm just missing a tiny bit now: placement. If the original item is a link, I wanted to duplicate the original linked item and link that to the dupe instead. Hello,I am trying to find an easy way to add revision bars (or change bars) to InDesign documents. Typically, in aircraft manufacturer documents, a thin revision bar appears in the margins to indicate that there has been a technical change since the previous version of that document. InDesign does not currently have a feature that will create these automatically. It does have a very limited Track Changes feature, but it is only usable in Story Editor. There are a couple plug ins (Kerniff Publishing Edit Marks and CtrlSoftware's CtrlChanges) out there, but I am not confident in these as a solution due to the high cost for singular licenses. I am also not sure that they would be any more efficient than doing it manually (drawing a vertical line and applying an object style that would place it in the margins with the desired attributes). I'm trying to make a table with cross references to notes for accessibility so I've created text anchors at the beginning of the paragraph for the 4 notes under the table that begin with numbers. Then I created a cross referent for the first note after "Uncut" in the 3rd row of the 2nd column. After that when I try to make another cross reference by moving my cursor after "PC" in the 3rd row of the 3rd column, as soon as I make a new cross reference its changing the first one to match the new one as well.   Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong to cause making a second cross reference to change the first? I updated to InDesign 2021 (16), but have left 2020 intact. Now I cannot change the default program in Windows 10. The program does not show up in the "Default apps", and even if I right click and choose the correct file, it does not register. I have to open 2021 and then use the "open file" option. There is no way to click on an InDesign file and have it default to 2021.

I am having difficulty downloading two different versions of Indesign. I need to have Indesign 19.1 and 19.5. Everytime I install Indesign 19.1 it replaces Indesign 19.5 and vice versa. The files I have only allow to be open on Indesign 19.1.      <Title renamed by MOD>

Hallo, nach einem Windows-Update ist meine gespeicherte Bilbliothek (Creative cloud Librarie) nicht mehr zu finden. Die ganzen hinterlegten Daten sind weg und ich müsste sie nun wieder langwierig anlegen.Weiß jemand wo ich meine Bibliothek wiederfinde bzw. wie ich sie wieder aktivieren kann?  

Indesign-Dateien sind schreibgeschützt beim Öffnen (Server). Die temporäre Datei bildet sich kurz und verschwindet dann wieder. Ab diesem Moment ist die Datei schreibgeschützt.  2 Kollegen von mir haben das Problem, ich jedoch nicht.Hat jemand eine Lösung?

Hello.   I have a macbook pro 36 g memory OS sonoma 14,4   Across the board I am having problems with adobe and strange problems. However in Indesign I cannot zoom in I have always used Command + ( I have read it is command =, which will bring me to 100 % but no further) I can zoom out without problem command- but continually need to select the magnifying glass to zoom in. It is extremely annoying. I have seen other threads but the solutions have not worked for me.   <Title renamed by MOD>

I have a piece of text in the font Futura PT, but it seems that it can't handle punctuation marks? When I type a diaeresis or an accent aigu or any other, there comes a little colored box instead off ë or é or û. Does anyone knows what's the problem?     <Title renamed by MOD>

I just started getting the following error message below when trying to export and interactive pdf.I am running version 18.1 x 64.I am not sure when this started because I have not exported from this document for about a month. I reset my InDesign preferences and I still get the error message.I can get past the message by clicking on “OK” and export the pdf.However, I would like to resolve the issue. It seems to be with just this one document. The reason I say this is because I have another interactive document that I can export to pdf within out getting this error message.Has anyone else had this or know how to resolve it. Here is the error message.This document contains links to files/url(s) that are not accessible.Please check your network connectivity of the original source of content.

After updating my Indesign to 2022 I have been having a nagging issue opening certain files and also packaging the file and PDF's. When I try to save a PDF or package a file that has no "errors", I am prompted with "This document contains links to files/URL(s) that are not accessible. Please check your network connectivity or the original source of content." When I go through the document, the images saved locally show up as grey boxes. See images attached For context everything is stored locally on my laptop, none of the Indesign files or images are stored on a cloud or on a server. Up until today I was running MacOS Big Sur, but updated to the latest OS Monterey 12.3.1 

Hello, I am creating a file in inDesign for a client that is asking for numbered tickets. They'd like to be able to print a specific number for each ticket. I've read some of the older answers for similar questions that refer to Data Merge, but I'd prefer not to take that route if avoidable. What I'd ultimately like to do is create a space for the numbers to go, select the number of pages within the Print menu, and have the spaces populate with the corresponding numbers while printing. If this is not possible within inDesign, is it possible in Acrobat? If neither, is there a program or script that would allow me to do this?Much thanks

I have Masters for chapter openinngs, and Masters for basic pages (in a book).  But if the text changes, which it usually does after the editors get their hands on things, the chapter openings and text pages then have the wrong Master applied. I find I have to manually change and re-apply the masters to the now rearranged text. Seems like something that could fairly simply be automated somehow?

Hello all, I know it's possible to make a paragraph style part of an object style, but I'm basically wanting to do the reverse: apply an object style based on a paragraph style. A little more context: I'm working on typesetting a book and have a handful of pages where I want the text to be aligned to the bottom of the frame rather than the top. In those instances, there will be a specific paragraph style applied that will only be used on those kinds of pages. So far I haven't found any automatic or semi-automatic way to do that. I can do it manually, of course, but if there are any changes to the flow of the book I'd have to redo it. If anyone knows of a script that will do it or some way to handle it just with built-in tools in InDesign, that would be great. Thanks!

Hello,   When I publish my document online, the pages do not display correctly but the thumbnails do. When exporting the document as a PDF, all is well. I am on Windows 11 latest version and Indesign 19.5. I'm having a strange effect with text tracking. My para style (called 'standard para') is set to zero tracking but the text nevertheless shows a tracking value of 50 and there there is no override indication. I have tried selecting some para text and changing the tracking to zero which works and the 'standard para' style then shows an override indication. If I then clear the override the tracking returns to 50. I then tried setting the style tracking to something outragous like 200 but it has no effect. I do incidentally have a character style for a Drop Cap and that has a tracking of 50 but it only applies in a different style ('standard first para' based on 'standard para') so  I can't see why that is affecting it. How do you work efficently between Ps, Id and Ai? I'm trying to design a brochure with text , vectors and photos. I can't design the text without the backround and vice versa, but it seems like you need a different program for each  part of the  brochure. I have tried libraries but you can only put in a single element not an entire document, and you have to either have it perfect from the start or edit without being  able to see the rest uf the design.   In Affinity; which I was using until now, you simply click edit with and you can edit your entire document in any of the thre design apps (see  photo below).  Is there away to do something similair in Adobe?     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi everyone, I’m in desperate need of help with an issue I’ve been facing in Adobe InDesign for the past month. When I insert a video and resize it with rounded corners and a stroke, it looks fine initially, but then the corners keep flicking back to square. When I publish, it looks very wrong (corners rounded, but video square inside the round) and this has become incredibly frustrating since images work perfectly.   I have not changed any settings before this issue started as it started randomly.   Here’s what I’ve tried so far:- Verified framing settings (set to None)- Reinstalled InDesign- Ensured I’m using the latest version - Currently using a Macbook Pro M2 (MacOS15) - Same as always - Ensure videos are in MP4 format    I’ve also noticed that when I use the “Fill Proportionally” option, the blue bounding box shows outside the frame, which isn’t correct. This is the message I get when I try and export individual pages with the numbering and section applied to it. I do not understand this message clearly. When I try to do what its says I still get this messge.   Below is the file where the pages have different page numbers applied. Hello, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this, please.   If I mask an image in Photoshop, the quality massively reduces when I place that image in InDesign. It loses all vibrancy and is also very pixelated. I have tried converting it to a smart image, exporting it as a JPEG/ PNG, and placing it as a PSD file and nothing has changed. Also display performance is high so it's not that - the photo literally changes before my eyes as soon as it is placed. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks!     <Title renamed by MOD>
