Is there a way to create a password a pacaged file or at least on the idml file so that I can be sure that noone besides my client will access it.   <Title renamed by moderator>

Hello, i have the following issue:A pdf document is marked as missing in the 'links' pane but is nowhere to be found in the InDesign document. Not on master pages, no hidden layers, ... Re-linking also fails. Does anyone know how I can remove this linked item from the links pane?

Dear all,We are running InDesign Server CC 2014 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (64bit).We start InDesign.exe from the command line.We just bought another license for 1 more year, with this we got a new serial number. But... where to enter this new serial number to activate?Some further informations:- In older Version of InDesign, you could provide the serial when starting InDesign in the command line (but this is obviously no longer possible in the current versions InDesign Server CC 2014. Hi there!I have a problem with InDesign 2024.When I start the app I get the message with an exclamation mark: InDesign has unexpectedly stopped.It’s impossible to start the app.I’ve tried to remove the app with the desktop app and with the AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool. In both options I've also removed the personal settings.After reinstall InDesign the first launch is without problem. When I quit the app and do a restart the same problem occurs. When I manually delete the InDesign Preferences folder (username>Library>Preferences>Adobe InDesign>Version 19.0>nl_NL) I can start InDesign without any problem.When I quit the app and do a restart the same problem pops up. When I start InDesign while pressing the keys Shift Control Option Command and choose Yes in the context window, InDesign starts normally. Off course this not a normal way to start InDesign. It’s also impossible to start the app with my own preferences. Does anyone has an idea to solve thi

Adobe InDesign is stalling at launch (During Loading Panels).  Eventually, I will get a force quit prompt.  I'm on Ventura 13.6.7 and InDesign v19.5.  Admittedly, I was pushing the app pretty hard today exporting versions of files, etc.  When the force quit prompt comes up, InDesign is showing usage of 95GB.  I've tried other older responses to this issue, but they all seemed to be around the iOS version, which mine is fine.  Any help is appreciated, I'm under deadline to complete book.

I'm making a coupon booklet.I want numbering only on the front of each coupon.The problem is that if I remove the page number on the back, it continues to count as if it is still there.I want the count of the pages to be on the front pages only.Anyone have a solution for me?

Just wondering if there a way to force (even by plugin or scripting) a display performance setting by layer??  ie - Layer 1 is high quality, layer 2 is typical.   Thanks!   <Title renamed by MOD>

I have a lengthy document with different types of numbered lists that run throughout. Because of different background colors on pages I need to change character styles from black to white for specific locations without disrupting the list. I can change the character style of the list text, but not the numbering text. Is that possible? Thanks in advance.<Title renamed by moderator>

Hi everyone, I've been experiencing some issues with the software we commonly use and could really use your help. Here's the problem:Every time I click the "Create" button, the software fails to generate a new file. I've tried the following solutions, but the problem persists:- Restarting the computer- Reinstalling the software These methods haven't resolved the issue. Lo tengo instalado en un ordenador con windows 10, los otros programas de adobe sí  funcionan pero InDesign queda como proceso en segundo plano, cargando y nunca llega a abrirse. No encuentro solución, ayuda, gracias. 

I am creating a list of all weights and styles of a font family by script.The list looks like this:Arial:  Regular | Italic | Bold | Bold Italic | For every font weight/style there is a character style with the same name.I try to apply this character style to every term in the list, but if I work withmyFrame.parentStory.lines[1].words[i].appliedCharacterStyle=myStyles[i];it is not working, because some styles have two words (like Bold Italic) and I  also want to use the | as seperator...Is there a better solution to achieve this? here is  the for each loop:for ( var i = 0; i < myStyles.length; i++ ) { myFrame.insertionPoints[-1].contents=myStyles[i]+" "; myFrame.parentStory.words[i].appliedCharacterStyle=myStyles[i]; };

I've been having problems packaging files on indesign : It exports a pdf file with 0 KB and a forth file (which is the actual pdf) without an extension I have no idea how to solve this        <Title renamed by Moderator>  

Hi I created some simple vectors in illustrator, placed them into a library. And bu simple I mean squares and circlesIn idesign I hold alt whilst dragging into document. All vectors are rasterised and cannot be edited, recolored or anything in indesign. This never used to be the case and in other older libraries no such issues. The items in the libraries have the Ai logo next to them. How can I fix this please?

Hi all, not sure if anyone has had the same issue but since the 2020 updates. My Indesign user interface is double the size and takes up much of my 14" screen. I thought it was a windows problem but my Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop are completely fine and perfect size. Does anyone know how to change this? Thanks

InDesign decided to stop letting me add photos or drag any in?Anyone else have this problem, or how do I fix it?Attached snip of what it says when I try placing an image, but i have full permission and it isn't in use.When I drag one in, nothing happens.Strange thing is that it let me put in a .png logo, but not a .jpeg image...?

This post is more in hopes to get this feature added. I understand Illustator is the only program at the moment to have a tapered line feature, but why? Why is this feature not implemented in InDesign? It's 2024, we have generative photo filling features being added to InDesign, yet there is no way to create a tapered line? Am i crazy for thinking this?I create a lot of social media templates, and i understand that indesign may not be the first choice for many when doing this, but as a solo in-house designer for a company this just makes sense on so many levels for consistency and what not. But I am now running into clients that have added tapered lines as brand elements and I now have to either completely redesign my templates in Illustrator, or create a tapered line in Illustrator and bring it over?! Hi, I'd like to know if there is a way to add print presets permanently to InDesign Server. I wrote some functions (get, set, delete) for print presets, but every time I need to restart InDesign Server all defined print presets are lost. Any idea how to let the presets survive the restart ? I have attached the sample of the file, the text box I assigned i overlapping the image of the button. The text is on separate layer and on top of the button layers but I could not figure where to correct. Can someone help? tthank you

I wanted to register eventhandlers for all the page loading events whenever an IDML document is opened in the InDesign Server application. I tried registering event handlers using ExtendScript but it didnt worked out. I got only document specific events e.g. beforeNew, beforeOpen, afterNew, afterOpen etc. So, I want to achieve this using C++ PlugIns functionality in the InDesign Server application. Please let me know of any pointers which I can refer to create the plugIn for InDesign Server and register eventhandlers for page loading events. I could not find any specific sample code in the PlugIns SDK Kit relative to event handlers.  

Hi all Need help with Indesign documents exported as accessible pdf files. I've been producing accessible files for a couple of years now without too many problems (always sorted). But recently after lastest updates to Indesign and Acrobat I've found that when opening the pdf file and checking accesibility tags – the document displays No Tags available? The indesign doc I've set style sheets – added H1/H2 etc and P style for output to pdf (originally I used to leave these as default for Indesign to manage) , but nothing arrives in the pdf – I'm having to manually set all styles and tags within acrobat. Frustrating to say the least. Please don't suggest I check the Create tagged pdf in the output to pdf as I have a preset for Accessibles. Indesign 19.5Acrobat Pro V2024.002.20964Imac Ventura 13.5.2  Any suggestions welcome – life has become tiresome with accessibility lately!

I am having trouble with variable-length data merges overlapping with each other.  It appears this is not a new thing, and was addressed (and solved) in this thread.  I have made a single text box formatted the way I would like.  The problem is that the script is not working for me. The script should take the single-item merged documents and stitch them together.  When I run the script, I get the error "Error string: app is not defined."  I am a real beginner, so it's possible, I made a mistake with the script, but it was just a copy-paste thing... so I don't know.  I made a txt file with the .idjs extension with this as the text. function main(){ var doc = app.documents.everyItem().getElements(); var n = doc.length; if(!n){ alert("You need a document"); return; } doc = doc[0]; var tfs = doc.pages.everyItem().textFrames.everyItem().getElements(); n = tfs.length; while(n--){ if(n==0) break;

When I put a PNG into my InDesign file, it looks like it has a clear background, but when it is printed it does not have a clear background. Instead it has a square shaded outline around the shape, with like a shade over it, on top of whatever is underneath. e.g. My PNG is sitting in a landscape position half over a red background and half of it over an image. The image itself within the PNG is fine, but out toward the edge of the rectangle shape it is not. When printed, over the red background, the background of the PNG is a lighter shade of red. Where it sits over an image, the background is like a deeper colour saturation. How do I fix this so the background of the PNG is transparent, as it should be? Any help is appreciated very much. I use Adobe InDesign to design wall-mounted shadow boards for tools.The individual shadow images are created in Adobe Illustrator and placed in the InDesign file where required.The finished design incorporates a number of drill hole marks which we show as red circles. Some of the holes originate in the AI file. Some are added straight into InDesign. The finished design is exported to pdf and sent to our printer. Recently our printer told us when they open the file, the drill holes are represented as a double or triple line with a fill. As such their router tries to cut the hole twice. How do I create the drill holes (circles) as a single line entity?
