Hello everyone, thanks for reading.Let's say I decrease the saturation of a photo by 90.If I then select a specific area using the mask tool and increase the saturation by 90, will the final result in that area be the same as before any changes were made? And if I reduced the overall saturation by 90, then selected with the masking tool, for example, a yellow jacket. Then, proceed to the yellow slider and increase the saturation by 90.Will the yellow components of that jacket be the same before making any changes? Is this the answer always the same with contrast, texture, sharpness etc?I am very proficient with the program, but I don't know the answer to this yet. Thanks.
I have an M1 MacBook Pro, 2 TB HD. I use the uptodate version of LrC. Currently, my computer HD stores my catalog, catalog backup, and images. I am running out of computer HD space and want to move catalog backups and images to an external HD. It is better practice anyway. I have the following questions:Is there any need to partition the external HD to separate catalog backups and images? I wouldn't think so, but want to be sure. How do you determine the optimal external HD size? What is the best strategy and process to do back-ups of the images? 2nd external HD? Back-up software? Backing up to the cloud is not an option for me due to internet speed/bandwidth limitations. Will be running low on USB-C ports. Any recommendations for Hubs? Thanks!
I updated to LrC 14.1 today on Windows 11.Now when I go to import new photos, my Import Presets, Develop Settings, and Metadata presets that I always apply on import are missing. Anyone else seeing this issue? What's the solution?
So the other night before bed I went to shut down my computer, closed Lightroom and it prompted me to backup, so I did (I always backup when prompted weekly). Next day I fire up the PC, open Lightroom and it's completely empty and starts the tutorial (where the arrows point important sections) as if I had first opened it. The library was completely empty and the catalogue disappeared. I looked in my Lightroom folder (Pictures>Lightroom) opened the catalogue inside and it's empty. I contacted support, they took remote control of my PC and tried to open a backup catalogue, but the most recent backup is from January, and after searching my whole system for a .lrcat file the support advisor just told me that it has gone for good and they couldn't help any further. All the collections photos are still synced to lightroom mobile and web, so I can access them on there, but the desktop catalogue is gone and when opening my old one it will resync with mobile and ill loose all the edits. I ha
Hi everybody !Ok, it look me a while to gather the entirety of the problem, but here I am :LRc constently freeze, like every 5 minutes when I'm editing.I noticed that when it does, I could see from the performance tab is windows task manager that it also completely saturate my local disk with writing: it suddently peak to 100% activity, and stay to 100% until I kill Lightroom. In the meantime, my processor and RAM seems to be unaffected.I had to investigate further to find this "dumps" folder in AppData/Roaming/Adobe/CRLogs. The mf was like 100go and is also began to saturate C: drive. I find multiple discussions in here saying that I can delete the files in it without breaking anything. So I did.But the main problem remains: LRc keep suddently writing like mad is this folder (the 17,6go file from my screenshot was creating during the 2 minutes it took me to take the screenshots), and that make it freeze until I kill the task.I already used Adobe CC cleaning tool to uninstal CC an
When I installed the 14.4 update, my LrC broke: it hangs and hangs and hangs... It's unusable. After 3 days of getting run around by "technical experts" at last one admitted that if there's not 16GB RAM, it won't work. Wish I'd known that before ... I installed an earlier version (which worked before the new update), and it's broken too. I hate Adobe!!!!!!!!
I use lr classic to import photos from full frame cameras as well as my smartphone. The smartphone shoots at 4:3 by default. I prefer 3:2 like a normal camera. Unfortunately lr does not support saving cropping as a preset so every import I must crop one photo, select them all from that import batch, then sync that crop. So annoying. Why can't I save a crop ratio to a preset?
Remove>Distraction Removal>People is not finding people. I get the message "No distractions found." I am using photos where the people are far enough away so Lightroom shouldn't recognize them as the subject. But they are close enough and spread out enough to recognize them. Why isn't this working?
Hello I am experiencing - what i feel is below par - precision in masks. In this particular example, i am showing a screenshot of a subject mask that i am currently refining. Is this simply limitions of the program, limitations of my hardware, or is it a bug? Is it maybe possible for us, as users, to gain the ability to refine masks more automatically in a future update?I am using Intel Arc integrated graphics, with 32gb of RAM and an Intel Ultra 185H processor.
So I lost my completetly lost my preset I had made but when I upload a photo I have used my preset on the histogram shows up does a professional lightroom classic user know how to copy it and remake it??
Hi there,I’m trying to mask certain areas in an image. I already created a perfect mask by editing a virtual copy of the photo. Now I want to apply this exact same mask to the original image – without any changes or recalculation. I just want to copy the mask 1:1 from one image to another, without Lightroom re-analyzing or adjusting it.Is there a way to do that? I’m getting really frustrated over this. Any help is much appreciated! Also: Is it possible to convert an AI-generated mask into a “normal” mask once it’s created? That would solve my problem, I guess. Thanks!
Hi, I've been using LRC for around 7 years, the last 3 years downloading pics from an iPhone 12 without any issue. I use it on an Acer Swift Laptop using the latest version of windows. Recently when downloading approx 60 images at one time the download stops around half way through and will not download the remaining images. I get a message saying the files are corrupt or similar yet I'm doing nothing different to what have previously been doing. I've tried different USB cables, different sets of photos, downloading 15 photos and again it will only download half of them. Any ideas?
Hi, this is my first time posting here and overall I have been very happy with Lightroom. I use the Classic version (standalone) on my Mac Studio. For several years and generations of various Mac HW, this has worked very very well. Today, it seems like I am unable to "import" as the import never finishes. I updated the App to 14.4 today (latest) and still have this issue: HW and SW configuration: Mac Studio M1 Ultra with 64GB DDR OS: Sonoma 14.6.1 Location of Catalog: on Macintosh HD - local SSD for Mac Location of Photos: External SSD connected using TB4 XML file for metadata: enabled at import Problem The photos cannot be imported "in location" on the external SSD. This is working fine for tens of thousands of photos already in the catalog (they're all on the external SSD). The import process starts but never finishes. The folder has ~700 photos, but none are imported into the catalog. Changing the option to write the XML files at import has no effect
Updated to LR Classic 14.4. Initially everything seemed OK. Managed to do a few HDR merges, but now when I try, I get the preview screen coming up, but once I click to actually do the merge, it gets a little way into the process an then the progress bar just seems to stop and the merge doesn't complete, even after like 10 minutes. The interface is still responsive. It's just the merge process that doesn't complete.I have tried restarting LR and my PC but that doesn't seem to fix it.I also downgraded to version 14.3.1 and it still doesn't work.Seems properly broken, which is very annoying, as I have client work to do. Hi everyone, I’m using the latest version of Lightroom, and I’m having trouble finding where I can view or edit the criteria for a Smart Collection I created. In previous versions, I could just right-click on the Smart Collection and select “Edit Smart Collection…” to see the criteria, but that option doesn’t seem to be available anymore. I’ve also checked the “Library” menu and other possible locations, but I can’t find anything related to editing or viewing the Smart Collection criteria.Has this feature been moved or removed in the newer version of Lightroom? If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help.
I am working on an album of 800 photos. By accident, I had all photos selected when I cropped one of the photos from landscape to portrait orientation. Lightroom then proceeded to start doing the same to all the photos in the album. By clicking "reset" next to the sync button, I was able to pause the sync-settings process, but not cancel it entirely. It's as if there is a queue of sync jobs and it is impossible to remove an unwanted sync job from that queue. In other words, I have to wait until all 800 photos are cropped to portrait orientation (even though I don't want that to happen), and only then (hopefully) fix one of them and sync that crop setting to all 800 photos. This seems an incredibly inefficient process. I can't be the first Lightroom user to inadvertently start a sync-settings process and want to stop it for good. Is there a way to stop that unwanted sync-settings job once and for all?
Lightroom classic photos are not loading. I am not getting an error. I waited for hours and there is no progress in the loading section on the top left. I deleted everything including creative cloud. After deleting, I manually deleted the remaining files under appdata, romaning etc. manually. Then I went through the program data etc. and cleaned it thoroughly. I cleaned the remaining things in the regedit files. The problem was not solved, I reset lightroom, there is no problem from the settings panel. The same situation continues after the clean installation. There is a loading problem, it was happening all the time 3-4 years ago, I was solving it. However, I do not remember how to solve it and I do not have any time. Urgent support is needed Adobe gurus. 🙂 Thank goodness you exist, thanks for the support. 1660 ti graphics card.fx 8300I did all the updates to Windows 10 pro. I used the Generative AI remove tool in Lightroom Classic V14.3 to remove two people from an image. After removing the people, there was a ghost image remaining. I tried all 3 variations and all had the ghost images. See before and after pictures as well as my settings. Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm using Lightroom 14.4 on Windows 11 Pro. I'm trying to copy the white balance from one photo to a few others. I've tried going to Settings / Copy Settings and selecting just White Balance on the source image, then using Settings / Paste Settings on the target image; I've tried right clicking on the source image in the filmstrip and going to Copy Settings and selecting just white balance then right clicking on the target image and selecting Paste Settings; I've tried it with pasting to just one image and pasting to several images. In all cases, nothing happens at all when I attempt to paste. I've browsed the forum here and see some posts from a few years ago with a similar problem but the solutiotns there did not help. Does anyone have suggestions for something I might try?
Description of IssueIn Both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop, new images imported look extremely desaturated regardless of the colour profile selected. Even when using matching camera profiles, the saturation still looks visibly off compared to other programs. Might be a problem with the underlying camera raw engine. I only realised this happening to this month's imports and have not experienced it with previous shoots. The colors my older photos in my catalog doesn't seem to have changed. Does not happen when using other RAW image viewers, including XNViewMP or FastRAWViewer (which also does have its own RAW rendering engine - regardless of whether it's using a RAW rendering engine or its viewing the internal JPEG, it still appears more alot more saturated than Adobe's software).Lightroom Classic Version Number (Help>System Info…)14.4, Camera Raw 17.4OS Version NumberWindows 11.0.26100Camera Model (sometimes necessary)Nikon Z5Step-by-step Reproduction Instructions (in precis
