Lightroom Classic

I bought a backup SSD external hard drive a few months ago (Samsung 2TB T9) for all my photos and when I first was using it, it seemingly worked fine. But after a few weeks of usage (after the Lightroom Classic 14.0 update) my PC tells me there is an error with the drive and that it needs to be repaired. Lightroom gives me an error as well saying that the folder I'm currently looking at photos in is "unavailable" and that it will use the pictures folder on my PC (which I've imported nothing into Lightroom from). It gives me this error every time I launch Lightroom from the SSD after about 5 minutes and I'm not sure why. After being prompted with that error, Lightroom also says that it "encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit". My PC also tells me that there is a problem with the drive and that it needs to be scanned and repaired. After scanning and repairing, it usually says that there were no problems with the drive. So why would it give me an error

I accidentally set my camera to double exposure; 12 shots ended up as 6 double exposures. Is there any way in LR that I can reverse this - i.e., sort out the two separate exposures in a double exposure?

HELP please!! My apps finally decided to install, but I'm already having a problem! When I finish a photo in Lightroom and go to edit it in Photoshop, I get a message saying it will require the updated version of Camera Raw for compatibility. But when I check, Camera Raw is up to date! So I click the option to edit it in Photoshop with the lighgroom edits applied. I do what I need to do in Photoshop and when I'm done, the photo looks great! I save it as JPEG, then when I go to open the photo from the folder I saved it in, th picture still looks good as the small icon! But when I click the picture and open it up larger, the picture has a weird green-ish tint to it. I don't know what's going on! I've tried editing several different photos and saving them in different locations, but they all do this when I open up the saved photo. What's going on? What do I do? Please help asap!

When I bring image files into Lightroom Classic and begin to edit an image, I take the image from Library Module into the Develop Module, I not am finding that the Develop Module is makeing some changes to my image without being pressing the Auto button. I am not sure if white balance and tint are being effected, but I am noting that Exposure is at +33, Contrast is 0, Highlights is at -31, Shadows at + 10, Whites at 0, Blacks at 0, Texture at +8, Clarity at +4, Vibrance and Saturation both at 0. I have no idea why all sliders are not at 0 as they have been before today. I made several test images on another CFexpress card and uploaded them into LrC and I find the same situation with changes being made when taking the image file from Library Module into Develop Module. Can someone help me get these automative changes to stop? Thank you!

I've just had my catalogue upgraded - and a set of developed images on one drive has "dissapeared". I imported the folder again, and found that a few of the photos have develop adjustments but most don't. Incredibly frustrating, as that is several years of work down the drain. Anyone got any ideas?  

Lightroom 6.0 won't start after I moved the program to a new computer.The program has been uninstalled on the old computer.Moved from Windows 10 to Windows 11 both Intel platform.The installation goes fine and ends with a login to my Adobe account, the login goes fine and is accepted, Then nothing more happens!When I double-click on the Adobe Lightroom icon, Adobe Sign In Required pops up and I log in without any problems, but after logging in nothing happens.What am I doing wrong?BR Karin      

My lightroom settings are set at 100% quality and 300 ppi. I sent photos to a client who wanted to make a large scale print and was getting error messages saying the photos weren't high enough resolution. I checked the image size in photoshop and it said the image was around 4500x3200 pixels (give or take).  For the large scale print she wanted, I adjusted the image size in photoshop and sent her a 4800x6000 version of the photo. My question is, why am I even able to edit the photo to be a higher resolution? Why isn't it already exporting from lightroom in the highest possible quality if my export settings are telling it to do so?

Export-Preset adds its name to the exported filename - why? I have the following export settings: -> skip existing file and--> do not rename, hence use the original filename but add jpg This user export preset is called "Export as PDF for Server"   When I use this preset (the first or multiple times) when there are no files with identical names, the export works as intended.  --> However, when I use this export a second time or when there are already files with identical filename, then the exsting files are not skipped but new files are exported with the name of the export preset attached to the filename.  Why does this export preset not follow the instructions? (to not rename and to skip existing files?)Thanks 

Hi, I collect my photos around 3 catalogs: professional work, private (familly and travel) and street photo.Some street photos are taken while traveling.  I would like to have the pictures reamining in the 2 catalogs but I would like to know how I can syncing modification to a pictures to the 2nd catalogs ?When in street catalog, modification to a picture taken in Cuba would be automatically applied to the same photo in the private catalog.Is there a workaround ? Do I need to write in .xmp the modifications so that each catalog reads the last xmp file ? Thanks a lot for your input

Strange that I can't find a definition for that term anywhere on Adobe or in the LR tutorials.  I can see that switching to "Edit Count" re-sorts the files, but on what basis?  Edit Time is what I generally use, but Edit Count might be helpful if I new what it did!!Thank you for a clear answer.- Steve

Hi!This feels like a dumb question but I cant figure out how to delete import presets (made by myself). Im running latest LrC (14.1.1) on Windows 11. How is it done?

J'obtiens un message d'Adobe me disant que LRC ne fonctionne pas sur cet appareil et me demande de mettre à jour mon système d'exploitation (W11). J'ai consulté la configuration requise par Adobe pour installer LRC et ma machine remplit tous les critères! Windows est à jour (22H2), les pilotes de ma carte graphique graphique (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650) ,aussi. Elle accepte DirectX 12, seule la fonction DirectX 12 Ultimate est désactivée mais n'est pas activable? Comment sortir de l'impasse? Hi. Since LrC was updated I have not been able to access my work in earlier versions. When I open "recent catalogs", they contain no pictures, and I am asked to "import" to start. I wonder, where my previous work has gone. I have to edit every picture again with the new update and have obviously lost years of work. Can I do anything to regain it? Kind Regards, Per Gade

I have been running LR 4 on an older Mac Pro tower which is exhibiting signs of being close to death. I am fine buying a new mini mac and joining modern times by subscribing to LR (classic? is that correct?). My question is how do I migrate from this computer to the new one?   My mac has lost it's wi-fi capabillity, so I'm unclear on how I will access everything on the new computer. My catalogue is backed up on the mac's hard drive.

So I had a 10 year old Mac and it was struggling to do stuff, battery went and went into lightroom classic to find 3500 photos greyed out. I thought when I transferred over to my new MacBook Air they might reappear but no such luck! so I have tried 'find missing photos' and that didn't work so I have no idea how to fix this, please help!   {Moved from Lightroom Cloud to Lightroom Classic Forum by Moderator}

I can't import Canon R5 ii RAW files to Lightroom classic.  Says "The file appears to be unsupported or damaged."  I find reference to this problem on line but the posts are rather dated.  The work arounds are very few and are difficult to implement for all but a few files.  Help.

I'm trying to write a lightroom classic plugin. One of the steps is to copy metadata from one photo to another.I'm using :newPhoto:setRawMetadata("keywords", oldPhoto:getRawMetadata("keywords"))but it throws the error.Also "title" is an unrecognized metadata key even though it apears in the sdk docs.

I use two Mac's for my photography.  I used a 2019 MacBook running Monterery 12.6.6 for printing only.  It has Lightroom Clsassic 13.5.1 and Photoshop 26.0.0 installed.  I recently got a 2024 MacBook for all other uses including photo editing.  when I plugged my external drive containing my photo files into the 2024 MB and started Lightroom Classic version 14.1.1 LRc wanted to update my photo database.  I quit before that occured.  my question is if I allow the database to be updated will the older version of LRc (13.5.1) work with those updated files?  thanks for any guidance you can give on this.

Hello, I'm using title as filename in some published collections but have found the need to download files with duplicate filenames. However, when I export, there are spaces between the words, while my published collection gets hypens between the words in the filename. Is there any way to export using the title as the filename AND get a - between the words so I don't have to edit every single filename? Thanks

This post is essentially an offshoot of another post I created recently asking how to deal with the fact that I'm almost entirely out of space on my laptop running Lightroom (and other Adobe products). It seems like someothing went horribly wrong even before I got the chance to unload all of images to an external drive -- almost all of my images (and presets) are missing! Maybe it's just coincidence, but I clicked on my Lighroom Classic icon as usual, and some kind of box popped up about saving the catelog and how it would not be compatible with older versions of Lightroom, something like that (in retrospect, I seriously wish I screenshoted this). But the bottom line is that when Lightroom loaded, it was like it was brand new installation! It gave me little introductory tour as if I was using it for the first time, etc. It's like the max-out status of my machine caused some mechanism in Lightroom to seriously fail.   The good news for me, if you want to call it that, is that ALL o

I sent a few older images (2021) from LR Classic to PS to edit and then saved back to LR. The images show up in the Library Module but I just get a white screen when I go to the Develop Module. This is not happening with images I've recently taken. I am unable to further develop these images in LR. I have tried closing both LR (twice) and PS but the images still show a white screen in Develop module 

Hey Everyone             I am working with the latest version of LR classic on Windows 11 platforms. I have LR classic on both my ACER desktop and my surface laptop, although all my Photo editing is done on the Acer desktop. Yesterday I opened LR classic on the Acer desktop and discovered, despite not having done anything, that I had only 145 photographs, not the 10K that should be there. First question how do I find my way back to my catalog and can I lock it in once I have?              I have a crackpot theory about why this happened. Last year for a brief period I used LR Classic on the laptop and while I meant to uninstall, I wasn't paying close attention when it asked me for prompts regarding my catalog because I thought these prompts had to do with just that laptop. But I think Adobe applied whatever answers I gave on the Surface laptop also to the Acer, thus my claim as to not having done anything and yet fin

Hello All .I didn't find where the "name of the preset" of my pics are stocked in metadata.So, i put by copy/paste the name of the preser in the field called "objet" to find it on the windows explorer detailed files. It is a problem that a lot of photographer have.Is there an metadata zone where it exist or a solution to automate it ?Same with Color that is not in windows explorer files details to sort them easely. Thank you for your help 🙂
