Hey, I have Adobe Flash Media Server installed on ubuntu. and I have some questions about operating it... 1. What do I need to do in order to stream a live H.264 broadcast? will everyone who has a flash player will be able to see it? do I need to use a special camera for that? or a special player? 2. How can I record the live broadcast into the server directly? 3. How can I add text on the live broadcast screen?[like announcements, headlines and stuff] 4. How do I make the FMS require a password in order to broadcast? meanwhile, anyone who knows the IP can use the server to broadcast whatever he wants. any help will be greatly appreciated, TMO.
Hi all, I need to integrate a .swf presentation in the php website and utlize FMS to stream it. I am new to the "web programming" but have a background in OOPs. Can someone suggest how to proceed ? Thanks !
I am not sure about the limitations of the flash media server. Can you please answer the following questions: - Is it possible to do more than one live stream simultaneously on one FMS installation? - If yes: how server intensive would that be? I am thinking about renting a server, installing fms on it and host live events. I would use the flash media encoder software to produce the streams. But as mentioned above, I don't know if uploading more than one live stream is possible and if yes, how many live streams I could have? I cannot afford a high-end server. The server would be only medium sized (Dual Core with about 3GHz).
I want to set up 2 folders to hold different clips, one is for all user, other is ip controlled. Please suggest how to do it.
Is their a developer edition or trial version for FMS 3.5? I can't seem to find anything on the site except 3.0
Hello, I can't really find a decent answer, support from Adobe is impossible, so therefore a new topic. I recently purchased FMS for the purpose of vod en live streaming. Installed the file "auth_addin_win_v2.6.msi" to be able to use authentication from FME 2.5 However, I can still connect to the server without authentication; it seems that the plugin isn't enabled or something in FMS. Can someone please give me some advice on how to troubleshoot this?
Is there a way for me to set the default VOD directory from: c:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 3\samples\applications\vod To: c:\Inetpub\vhosts\mydomain.com\httpdocs\files This is because all of my user loaded FLV files are located at c:\Inetpub path instead of c:\Program Files\Adobe. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Regards, Teng
Hi everyone. Well, I just installed FMS and want to set up a test website running a flash player. But I cant find anything related to a http server within the FMS configuration files. I double checked the adobe-s website and it states clearly: Integrated HTTP server So where is this integrated http server and how do I configure it? Thanks Nelson
I've tried to install de FMS 3 on linux Red Hat but its sends me an error that the installer doesnt not work on the 64 bit architecture Is there something I need to do. I have read on diferent support forums that the FMS 3 does work on a 64 bit architecture but it runs on 32 bit mode. Please I need to know if this works before I purchase the FMS 3
We just upgraded from FMS 2 to FMS 3. Now our videos no longer scrub. I used Lee Brimelow's tutorial on Integrating Flash Video 8 from the Lynda.com website, and it worked great with Flash Media Server 2. Now that we've upgraded, no good. Is there some server-side settings we need to set in order to allow scrubbing? Here are links to identical applications, only the rtmp URLs were changed to reflect the new server... Video Using FMS 2 Same Video Using FMS 3 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike
Hello - I'm new to FMS. I've got the dev version installed on a box, and we've built a test SWF and server application. I want to use this box as our dev, test, and staging environments, so I created virtual hosts for each of them. I then setup the application in both the default host, and the "dev" virtual host. I am unable to connect to the application (using fmscheck.exe OR our test application), but I can connect to the default host. The application loads fine in either host, I just can't connect to it. So, why would I be able to connect to "myFMS1", but not say "dev.fms1.mydomain.com"? I have, of course, made sure that DNS entries point dev.fms1.mydomain.com to the myFMS1 box. I also updated the hosts file on myFMS1 so that it knows that dev.fms1.mydomain.com points to itself. FWIW, I get the generic: NetConnection.Connect.Failed error.
We're running Flash Media Server streaming version 2.0 under Linux. Recently our sysadmin rebooted the whole server and FMS stopped streaming. It's running, and it's listening on the correct ports, but when a user tries to watch a video on the Web site it doesn't play. The Flash Media Player pops up but it just sits there "transferring data" that never arrives. Sysadmin insists nothing was changed on the server itself, and nothing was changed on the FMS config either. We have a pro license so it's not that. mySQL connection is present, everything seems to be is working perfectly but the stream never starts. Help! thanks in advance RACER
We have installed Dev Media Server in preparation of installing the full Interactive Media Server version. I am having a problem connecting to the administrative tool. I can only connect to it by going to: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 3\fms_adminConsole.htm on the local box, but f I go to http://localhost:1111/ Which is what the instructions say to do, I get the following error (I am never shown the login form): <result> <level>error</level> <code>NetConnection.Connect.Rejected</code> <description>Admin user requires valid username and password.</description> <timestamp>12/4/2008 11:44:59 AM</timestamp> </result> I have searched the Knowledge Base and did not find anything. Operating System: Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Browser: Microsoft IE Any thoughts?
Hello! Does anyone know, if it's possible to restrict live stream publishing by any criteria with Flash Media Streaming Server and built-in live-application? I have searched for a solution for days, and it seems that with Flash Streaming Server it's only possible to create "free-for-all everyone-can-publish-anything-thay-want without *any*, even simple, access control features" kind of service. What's the use of this product, to anybody? Who would want to host a service, where anyone can publish anything without any control? What we're trying to accomplish is a plain-and-simple live video broadcasting server. We would send our live video feed from FME to FMSS, so that end-users can watch our broadcast from our web-pages using a video player created with Flash. This of course works really nice already, but the problem is that anyone can use our FMSS to stream their content as well, and there's no way to prevent it. Am I really the only one who's puzzled with this issue? Thanks for y
I can best describe what I want to do by giving a similar but simplified scenario to my actual problem. There's a live TV broadcast. I want to record it as it is broadcast live, onto a server, where it will be stored for later retrieval. At any moment after the show starts, a user can start watching the broadcast from the beginning of the broadcast, or start watching it live, or start watching it at any other part of the show (i.e., after 20 minutes of the show, a user opens the player and jumps to 5 minutes past the start of the show). From an interface standpoint, this would ideally work just like Tivo or RealPlayer does when viewing live content. Is this possible to do with Flash Media Server? Or are you restricted to EITHER live OR recorded content? Thanks, -dan
I am wondering if F4V files play through Flash Media Server 3. I have FLV playing fine but cannot get F4V files to play. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi, We've setup FMS on one server and our cameras and Flash Media Encoder on another. Can I assume this is doable? Can we do this? Do I have to configure FMS to allow a connection from our other server? Under the FMS URL field in FME we've put: rtmp://ourip:port/live, but it says it can't connect? Am I doing something very stupid here? I'm assuming that FMS needs to certify a connection from out other server.. Sorry.. dumb I know, but am kind of new to this. Thanks, Graham

We are running Flash Media Server version 2.0.3 r68. Lately, for some reason FMS will simply stop serving content. When this happens, the FMS service is running and there is nothing in the logs indicating anything out of the ordinary. The only way to fix the problem is to stop and restart the FMS service. After doing this, FMS will work fine for several days before failing in exactly the same way. Anyone have ideas what's going on or what will fix this?
hi there, i was wondering if anyone had a moment, and they could check my site for how the videos play on this site. if you go to this website and then click on the "trailers" link and select any of them to view, i'd really appreciate it if you'd get back to me with your problems...or if everything is okay. thanks in advance! denise
Hi, Currently I'm looking for a solution to provide a high performing Flash Video player. This should be a streaming video solution to serve about 500 users per minute. Can anybody tell me if this is possible with Flash Media Interactive Server or Streaming Server? Next to that, clustering... as far as I know now, the Interactive Server is the product that can do this and it's called origin/edge. Is this correct? Hopefully you can help me Thanks in advance! E.!
Well I open FME, and it recognizes my cap card, but no video shows up. I went under the settings and it allows me to change only the input under crossbar to composite, which I was told by a tutorial would fix it, but it didnt. Since it isnt showing on FME, it obviously isnt showing on my stream. Any other ideas? PLEASE?
Hey folks, I am having trouble with the videos not playing on my website. I get the video that shows up but no player is showing so I can play the movies. Her is what I have gotten so far from the local host server log. I haven't added a actionscript, incase I might need one, how do I create one with Adobe Flash CS4? There are very good tutorials how to install Flash Media Server on Fedora: http://www.flashpioneer.com/chat/help/FMS_install_l.htm Ubuntu: http://www.bluetwanger.de/blog/2006/12/25/installing-flash-media-server-2-on-ubuntu-610-edgy/ But this methods does not work for FreeBSD. Is there any tutorial, tips, solutions, anything? Help...
Hi, I haven't looked at Adobe software in over a year - stuff has changed a lot and I'm a bit confused! 🙂 Basically what I intend to build is is a web application that is capable of having multi-user chat, and drawing capabilities which allow other users to see what a person has drawn, etc. I'm not really interested in video or sound broadcasting at the moment. The website www.isketch.net seems to achieve everything that I would require - although I am not building this as a game. It uses an old pre-Media Server platform, I believe. What Adobe products would you use achieve this kind of thing? Flash Media Server? Or is Flash Meda Server overkill for my needs? Can Flex achieve this? What about non-adobe software? Any suggestions/input is greatly appreciated. Note: I am a software engineer - but haven't much experience with Adobe - although I have researched their products in the past. Thanks for any help as always, Cormac
