One additional test: On a new occasion, opened Preferences | Presets to find camera was not changed but the Default: option below camera that had been set to my own User preset, had been changed to Adobe Default. When I imported a new RAW image, the Lens Correction was not applied as had been specified earlier.

Deleted preferences by renaming .plist file, opened LR which created new .plist and put in all my custom prefs (again) including the one for the D850 and the default: Enable Lens Correction on Import. Closed Preferences. Reopened Preferences. Camera setting had changed back to Canon EOS 5D Mark III. Conclusions: 1. Resetting preferences does not resolve issue. 2. Buggy behavior continues: Camera setting newly entered in a new set of preferences are lost when Preferences panel is closed and reopened. Problem is not resolved. Doug

Thanks for your comment. It appears LR is not storing the preset preference. In Preferences | Presets, I set Global to Camera Settings, Camera to Nikon D850 and Default to Camera settings. Then closed Preferences. When I reopen Preferences | Presets, the camera has returned to the default Canon EOS 5D Mark III. Normally, when a preference is selected, it is stored when Preferences is closed. As a further test, I closed and then reopened LR after setting the camera; on reopening, the default Canon camera has reappeared. The issue is not resolved.

Have a User Preset that, while selected, is not applied on Import. The preset has only two checkmarks: Treatment & Profile and Enable Lens Corrections. Using LR Classic 11.4.1 on an iMac with macOS 12.4. Eventually discovered LRC stored the preset in ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings/EnableLensCorr on Import.xmp. However, it is not being applied when importing a NEF file from a Nikon D850. After import the Enable Profile Corrections box is unchecked; toggling it manually shows and removes the correct Lens Profile. Also, when I open the XMP file, I see this line: crs:LensProfileEnable="0" Could this setting explain why the preset is not applying the lens Profile Correction on import? Ofter setting a variable to zero turns it off. Will attach the file. In the Develop module, in the presets section on the left side of the workspace, other presets are applied to the image in the workspace when moused over. However, the problematic preset, when moused over, only removes the Lens Profile Correctio if it had been manualy applied. In extensively searching this LRC community, tried many changes: various Preset Preferences: For Global: Camera Settings and Preset. When Camera Settings selected, correct camera is displayed (Nikon D850) and Default selected to be the desired User setting. Also tried toggling "Store presets with this catalog" on and off. I do not want presets stored with the catalog as I use several catalogs. Each time a preference was changed, LR was Quit and restarted. Still no happiness. Is this an instance where Adobe has acquiesced to a Nikon request to disable presets on import? Or is this a bug? Thank you, Doug

Further distinction: on further testing, discover the Options dialog I had tried using was the Quick Mask Mode Options dialog. Except for the title bar, it is identical to the New Channel options dialog. Changing the options on the Quick Mask Mode Options dialog did not change the behavior when the action was run. Changing the option in the New Channel options dialog did, however, change the outcome of the action. Appreciate immensely having the solution.

I have discovered that when I save a luminosity selection using the menu commands: Select>Save Selection it produces a channel where the mask is inverted from what I expect. However, when I save the same selection using the Channels panel button, Save Selection as Channel, it saves the mask properly, that is, not inverted. I also recorded an action to accomplish creating the Alpha channel using the luminosity selection. Again, when done manually, the saved mask if not inverted. While I am recording the action, it is also saved properly. However, when I run the action, the resulting mask is inverted. Sometimes (don't you hate it?), when I load the selection from the channel with the inverted mask and do a Curves Adjustment Layer, the mask loads in the uninverted form without me knowingly doing anything. However, this behavior is inconsistent. I cannot see anywhere in PS where I could give direction regarding whether to save a mask as inverted or not when building an action. Background: Am on a 27 in. 2017 iMac, 2 TB SSD mem, running macOS 10.14.6 and PS 21.1.0. Have tried many things: cleared cache and restarted computer, uninstalled and reinstalled PS, uninstalled and installed a back version PS20.0.3.

After discovering a similar problem with images being opened showing 72 pixels per centimeter, found that the units seemed related to the file downloaded from University of Michigan. When I created a blank doc, 8.5x11 in., 300 ppi and Place>Embedded the download, the resulting file shows pixels per inch. You might also be "inheriting" a unit set by the creator of your files.

With an object selected, when I click one of the Shades or Tints in the Color Guide panel, the artwork does not change color consistently. Sometimes, the color changes if Option is added but that is not consistent. A note in the current Illustrator Reference PDF on page 233 says, Note: If you have artwork selected, clicking a color variation changes the color of the selected artwork, just like clicking a swatch in the Swatches panel. (Italics in original) If I click and drag a color variation to the selected artwork, it changes the color to that selected. If the artwork is deselected and selected again, clicking a color variation works but not consistently. The behavior does not change if Warm/Cool or Vivid/Muted variations are selected. I'm using Illustrator 23.0.4 and macOS 10.14.6 on a 27 inch 2017 iMac. I've restarted the computer and Illustrator several times. I have not yet tried resetting Illustrator preferences as I have customized many to my needs and am reluctant to be forced to redo that process. Expected behaviors? Suggestions appreciated! As a user of LR from its origin, and now running LR Classic 7.0.1, I am distressed to experience my first corruption related to Auto Import. I'm on a Mac running OS 10.11.6. Have been using Auto Import for several years to pull in images as I scan them with an Epson Perfection3200 Photo. Images scanned in this project are over 4000 so I've been using this feature for a while, love it when it is working. Today, after scanning over ten other images that were imported automatically correctly, I returned to a destination folder used previously. After scanning an image, instead of it appearing in the destination folder, a copy of the previously scanned image appeared. The content is the previous image. The filename is the previous image. The index number is incremented and would be correct. I checked the folder holding the actual image files. The new scan is there with its proper filename. I changed the filename of the new duplicate image (which should have been the new image) but when I did that, the filename on the previous image also changed to match the name as I had changed it. I optimized the catalog and received the confirmation upon its completion. The issue persists: I have two copies of one image - not marked as Virtual Copies are shown - and the newest scan does not appear. I tried Synchronizing the folder. It showed - correctly - that one image needed to be imported. When I did so, I now have two improper copies of the image that had been the last one in the folder before the troubles began. Further, on the new, second duplicate, there is an icon where file location problems are shown, "Metadata for this photo has been changed ..." with the three buttons to import from disk, cancel or overwrite. When I selected the second duplicate (the set: original, first duplicate, second duplicate), and Rejected it with an X, then Remove Photo from Catalog, all three versions of the image were removed. When I Synchronize the Folder, it correctly shows two images are present. However, then I did that import, problems expand: I now have an improper copy of the second previous scan, no copy of the previous scan and one of the newest scan. My catalog has over 48000 images. I back it up every time I close LR. I have searched on "Auto Import" and find no other issues like this one. This behavior is unacceptable.

My upgrade to LR Classic now appears to have completed successfully. This is a pleasant surprise after it appeared to hang up with the splash screen showing, "Reading preferences..." for over six hours after advising that the catalog needed to be upgraded. Because LR appeared to be using between 3% and 9% of CPU, I quit the app although Force Quit was required. Today, after restarting my Early 2008 Mac Pro running El Capitan 10.11.7 with "gobs" of RAM and available storage, I found new catalog files for LR. When I started LR Classic, the catalog loaded, all 48K photos are recognized and things, so far, are working. I cannot tell whether the catalog upgrade operation had frozen the splash screen. I could not tell by looking at LR Classic whether any progress was happening. Because the apparent freeze occurred right after the "need to upgrade your catalog" message, I could not tell if the cataloging process was the culprit or somehow it had frozen elsewhere in "reading preferences." In other words, the process was less than transparent to the user. At least in the end, it now appears to be working. I'm eager to fully test out the improvements noted in the promo material about LR Classic. Performance improvement would be a huge benefit appreciated very much by those who stare at the screens during transitions between Library and Develop.

Thanks very much for the replies and information. I had found the document "Missing library, templates..." and downloaded and installed the initial files mentioned, "functional content for Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and Adobe Encore CS6". It was after doing so that I noticed exercises used in the lynda.com course on Encore CS5 that were not in my Library and led me to post my question. I've now gone back to that same document and read further. Today, further into that document, I found "Additional Solution: Install the Resource Central library content" with links to downloads. What a difference! To give only one example, in Encore CS6>Library>General, there were 14 items. In the download from the Resource Central link, in Library>General, there are 310 items! This pattern continues throughout the Library folder. I had initially overlooked this option as there was no description given beyond the title which meant nothing to me. While I have not yet gone back to the lynda.com course to confirm, I'm certain there is a pony in this barn. This download increases the number of resource files in Library about twentyfold. Thank you very much for helping! I now have so much more material to work with.

In learning Encore CS6, I have been using a class from lynda.com, Encore CS5 Essential Training. Encore CS6 is loaded on my computer. I have installed the content files available for CS6 from Adobe. My question now is whether it is possible to obtain the Encore CS5 Library files because they are used (but not provided) in the lynda.com course. I understand this is a longshot. Am just hopeful an archives-oriented soul may still have these files around. I've contacted Adobe directly and confirmed they cannot assist. Will appreciate any ideas. Thank you, Doug

As suggested by HenstepRobbie, after restarting my Mac, the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop undate installed successfully. I'm left with two comments: 1. Updating the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop will be a commonly performed activity. I notice I did it last only 12 days ago. For such a commonly needed process and one that is necessary in order to perform other Creative Cloud functions, it should be close to being bulletproof reliable. Looking at the wide range of suggestions for dealing with this error indicates that the design of the updating routine is a ways from being complete. First, such a frequent process should not be failing as often as appears to be happening judging from the number of messages now found on this topic. Second, the error trapping process should produce an error message closely linked with the true cause and the definite steps required to address it. Try this, dig into your system and remove that, turn that off, Can all these things be sometimes part of the cause? 2. In the short term, before the underlying process can be made robust, the error message itself badly needs additional information. "Contact customer support" is virtually useless: Adobe Support? Which flavor? Creative Cloud Support? General Support? Adobe Community? Forums? Creative Cloud Forum? Why did a search of Adobe's site and later a search of all forums on "A12E6" fail to produce a hit? A search on an error message ID ought to lead directly to solid information. The first priority for technical staff should be to improve the reliability of the update process operation. But a tweak of the error message text that pops up should be a simple matter. Appreciate the number of folks who pitched in to offer suggestions for getting around whatever failed. Thank you. Doug

When the Creative Cloud icon invited me to update the Creative Cloud desktop, I agreed. Part way through the process, an error message appeared. "Error encountered updating the Creative Cloud desktop. Error code A12E6. Contact Customer Support." I have searched Adobe Community for this error code and Creative Cloud with zero hits. I am on a Mac Pro running OS X 10.8.4 fully patched, 8 GB, and many many GB free storage. Assistance appreciated. Doug

I was just informed by Adobe Support that OS X versions below 10.7 are NOT SUPPORTED by LR5! This is the true reason for failure to install errors in OS X 10.6.8! This is a complete surprise and had not seen any references to this before from Adobe. However, a look at the Tech Specs does indeed confirm that supported versions are 10.7 or later.

Exact problem here. Was willing to spend money to "join" Creative Cloud. First effort to update LR failed. Have Mac with 10.6.8, patched up to date, LR4.4. If the steps suggested by JairajMike are required why isn't that advice contained in instructions before the failure occurs?

Please help me locate where my custom workspaces are stored. I want to copy several I created on my desktop to my laptop. Have looked extensively without success. The ability to create customized workspaces and quickly jump between them was a major leap forward in PS. I appreciate very much how the CS6 migration grabbed my workspaces from CS5.
