Hi, after using Premiere Pro CS6 for years, now we have access to CC (Win10). I have the choice between the Nvidia Quadro K2200 mit 4 GB GDDR5 (2 DisplayPorts und 1 DVI) and the Quadro P4000 mit 8 GB GDDR5, 4 DisplayPorts (within Fujitsu workstation). At the moment using two 27'' monitors with WQHD (2560 x 1440). But in a short while two 4K UHD monitors (3840 x 2160), same size (esp. for working in InDesign, showing/editing large format documents).   Question: does it make a difference esp. in Premiere Pro (or Photoshop) using the P4000 instead of K2200? Disadvantage of the P4000: it's louder, not as quiet or even silent as the K2200.   Thanks a lot! mycc   PS: in the past I have "well known" issues with the Nvidia processor of the K2200, sometimes Premiere freezes or the CUDA acceleration is disabled. I just downloaded Pr last week on my Mac laptop (specs below), but playback is just so crazy slow, even after figuring out how to use proxies. Proxies worked once, everything was smooth... but when I returned to the project the next day, it was lagging again. I almost want a refund. So I just want to hear your opinions on what's the best computer to use, OR what you're using. I checked out a couple of threads on upgrading a system to an SSD and/or M.2 chip, and they all got fairly quickly into discussions of special accelerators, cache placements, and other stuff that went beyond and above what I suspect a lot of basic video users (especially users of Premier Elements) really need. So, I'd like to at least try to create a thread for non-IT experts, on the basics. Hello, All!I am looking to build a platform that will allow me to do some 4k editing (specifically 4k 10-bit D-log). I am definitly not a pro and do not have expectations for production-level speed, but I also do not want to get frustrated waiting for Premiere to catch up, or waiting endlessly on renders. Here is the config that I came up with. Hi,it's been a long time since I was in charge of a PC and so I seek for the community wisdom to help me find a right setting.For a video editing project I will be provided with a new PC, and I want to make sure to get the best out of the specs.Does somebody have experience with Multiboot Linux/Windows and using Premiere/DaVinci here?The inital idea was to partitionate the hard drive so in case I would habe to install Windows and set up a Multi Boot. So I basically I wanted to start with Linux Mint and in any case Mint + DaVinci could not fulfill all the needs have a Windows 10 Premiere option.Then I got following hints:1) Not to start with Linux, because Windows will mess up the boot-table etc.2) Not to formate the SSD (only the SATA) because it might effect the rfficiency and speed of the editing workSo now I am very uncertain what would be the best way to set up the PC. I too have a major frame dropping proble, I just moved from Premier Pro C6 on older Windows 7 computer, to Premier Pro 2020 on a computer with the below specs. The same project file ran on my older computer without dropping frames, but has massive amount of dropped frames on my new and much more powerful computer. The media is 1080p, mostly png-seqence with only one video track. Task Manager indicates it's using 20% CPU and 10% RAM. I want to buy the Geforce GTX 1660 SUPER. Do you think it's working on Premiere and AE? Thanks

Bonjour à toutes et tous !J'ai un soucis avec les rendus de première pro et AME. Mon AMD RYZEN 7 3700X n'est pas très bien exploité en rendu. ( Min : 25%, Avg : 30%, Max : 48% ) Par contre, ma CG est à fond de cale. Et ça, peu importe les effets, les sources etc... Je précise qu'utiliser première pro ou AME ne change rien.Le screen de monitoring donne l'impression que je suis en jeu, mais non. C'est bien en rendu première pro.C'est bizarre. Parce que je sais que le boost GPU est important et est bénéfique aux performances de rendu, mais là, on a l'impression que le CPU est totalement dépasser et laisser à l'abandon pour le GPU ( RTX 2060 ). Comme si les rôles étaient inversés. Du coup, le rendu est plutôt lent pour un 8 cores / 16 threads... J'ai un autre pc, qui avait un intel i7-6850k au paravant, un 6 cores / 12 threads qui était charger à 80% grand minimum, souvent à 100%, et la carte graphique ( GTX 1080 ) à environs 30%.Ce qui me perturbe d'autant plus, c'est qu'Handbrake à

I started an intro thread, for non-IT-experts, on the basics of moving from spinning drives, to SSD or M.2 units. I can see the logic in doing that, but a couple of questions arise, including, has anyone who has tried that approach ever done any actual speed comparison tests, when generating a large video file (such as, say 2 Gb or greater)? And, is that approach recommended, or discouraged? Please keep this simple. I really would rather NOT get into digressions re: RAID, or other accelerator options, or other software/hardware packages that can be added on. I don't work at that level, and I'm just trying to ask a basic, straightforward question, which I hopes merits a direct answer. If there are links to other good threads

I would like to buy a laptop specifically for adope premiere pro. I'm new to this so i don't have to much money so a low end price is fine just to do the work is fine 

Back in August of 2018 I had planned a virtual retirement from hardware upgrading. But now with CC 2019 now here and requiring me to update some hardware once again, I am contemplating pulling out my miniITX i7-7700 PC from dormancy and putting my i7-4790K tower PC into semi-retirement. The holdup was that the i7-7700 has only 16 GB of RAM while the i7-4790K has 32 GB of RAM.To attain that goal without spending much if any money on new parts I am planning to move my currently in-use GTX 1060 6 GB card, 512 GB Samsung 850 PRO SSD and Pioneer BD-R/RW drive into the mini-ITX PC and remove personal software from my current PC and possibly refresh the OS installation on the older PC.Does that sound like a good plan? Or shall I get all-new hardware, such as a new CPU, motherboard, RAM and possibly an m.2 PCIe SSD or two, given my current financial situation (being on LOA from my day job, with possibly zero income)?I would really appreciate your answers.Randall

Hi all,   Wanting some advice on the best way utilise my current hard drive setup in an optimal way for video editing. I do a fair bit of After Effects work as well.   I don't particularly know how to find exact specs. But I run a 1TB SSD, 500GB standard Hard Drive, and another 500GB standard drive for all system stuff and programs etc.   I've ended up putting all my stuff on the SSD, including project files, footage, and temp files; because I just assumed it would be easiest and fastest, but have heard of a number of different ideas of putting different elements of projects on different drives to optimise the performance of the computer.   So things like, where to put my temp files and media cache, footage files, other documents, project files etc. What are good practices when it comes to that sort of thing?   Appreciate any help given 😄  Thanks!  

I have been usings the Quadro 4000 acceleration card for many years in my Mac (2012), using Mac OS 10.12 with Premiere Pro CC, and everything worked fine. There was a problem with my audio programs and I had to upgrade to OS10.13.6, and suddenly the Quadro card doesnt work. What new card would you recomend? Paul Hoyle

As I'm thinking to upgrade my editing machine (HP z840, dual 16 core Xeon, 192GB RAM, Nvidia Quadro M4000 graphics), I'd like to know if anyone has experience / opinion / test results, of:a) adding another Quadro M4000 GPUb) adding a nvidia Tesla m40 12GB card Surely option a) increases the fluency of timeline playback, but does option b) do it better (ie is it woth the extra money...)? Any insights on this?

Hi I want to upgrade (aka get a new one) my current editing hardware and I have trouble to decide which CPU, GPU and the amount of RAM I should take. I mostly work with 720p vids, but my main client wants to go for 1080p and also maybe 4k vids. My current setup is: i7-4790K, GTX 770 4GB, 32GB of RAM DDR3 (4x8GB), Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H, Windows 10, storage (SSD for OS+Apps and HDD for all sorts of data) + ASUS PA248 monitor (I do have plans to either get a bigger one or a 2nd monitor somewhere next year). I do have some issues with this PC thats why I don't want to upgrade it or invest additional cash on it (main issues the mobo seems failing on the SATA ports).  1. CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X  vs AMD Ryzen 9 3900X  vs Intel i9-9900KI never used AMD so I have no experience how they work with Adobe software and I'm sceptical to test it now (I can't just buy an AMD setup and then turn it back, get a refund and buy Intel setup). Hi all I am doing my research to better understand the hardware components of desktop PCs in order to upgrade mine but am looking for some extra advice. The end goal is to have a machine that can process 4K footage with ease, the short-term goal is upgrading the current PC to allow 1080p footage edits with ease. Ideally replacing one component at a time to assess the performance changes. Here are my current specs: I understand that for 4K I will work to replacing practically every component. But what is likely the current bottleneck? Premiere Pro runs OK with 1080p if viewing a couple of short clips but starts lagging soon after that.  If I was to only replace the CPU for now, should I go for an i7 or i9, and which one? Or AMD? Will that be pointless if I don't also upgrade the GPU? Or would even replacing the ram with 32GB DDR4 boost the current performance? Or should I just proxy my 1080p to 480p for now?
