This is a question that also relevant for After Effects and Media Encoder, but my focus is currently on Premiere.I am wondering what is the most powerful CPU, as of June 2018, that Premiere Pro can use. The tech specs don't cover optimized systems and nothing I can find in the software community mentions what is the software is currently programmed to cover. I am primarily looking for fast rendering for 4K multicam edits with After Effects compositions embedded with no rendering errors.I'm looking at a higher core (10+) CPU using hyper-threading as an option, since most rendering is done on the CPU. What is the max model that Premiere Pro can use? Also looking for the best SINGLE GPU to use with 10-bit capability. I'm assuming the 1080 TI, but once again, I can't find optimization specs anywhere. Can I use Optane memory with Premiere Pro or just standard socketed memory?Mac or PC, makes no difference between these two for me. Not using Linux.I am looking for answers directly from Adobe

Hey everybody!My name is Chris, and i am going to put 4 Worksations(HD: SSD for the OS, 7200rpm for the Data) together for my organisation (youth work and education)We need Videoediting in 1080p and to be futureproof 4K (not 6k or 8k).We will use the CC and Premiere Pro and other products as well.But for the 4k Question i wanted to ask you guys' advice and thought i get "to the source" here on the Adobe forums.First Question: Can we edit 4k video (i expect that we will not have high bandwidth 4k) comfortably with that hardware setup?We also have a Videonetwork and we will get a new NAS (High performance HD with Raid5) and a new Switch (with 10Gbit connections between the Switch, but only 1Gbit form the switch to each workplace).Second Question:Should 4K networkbased editing work with that?So i know some sort of proxy workflow recommendations do exist from Adobe, i will have a look at them too.What do you guys say? i need to change my pc...now i think a:i9 xxxxx ssd gtx1080, 3 ssd (how is reeccomended in premiere..) 32 gb ram ..... total 2000 and more dollars for what?when i try to work on a dji mavic file or go pro file or 4k file, is not possibile (jerky playback , not smooth..and if you apply a colour is worst) and i need to convert all in pro res?they are serious?i read a lot of people that spent a lot of money with new MONSTER PC and have the same issue (jerky playback etc)[title edited by moderator to correct typo]

Hi,Just build my Threadripper system (1950x, 32GB, 1080 Ti) and what I notice is that the scrubbing performance is pretty slow compared to my Intel laptop (i7 4790K, 32GB, 970M). I'm using GH5 ALL-I 4K files. Files are on SSD raid on Threadripper system and single SSD on laptop. Playback is ok, but scrubbing timeline is really bad.  Both systems are just installed with Windows Fall Creators update. I'm looking for some advice to upgrade my laptop to improve PP playback performance. I did my research but unfortunately http://ppbm8.com/ is not available (does anyone know if it will become online?) so I don't have much data to use for comparison.I bought a new gaming laptop (i7-8750H, 16GB RAM, GTX 1060 6GB, 250GB PCIe SSD, 2TB HDD), the performance was ok but the screen color accuracy was not suitable for my needs and I really missed my Trackpoint so I had to return it. Now I'd like to see if there's a way to upgrade/optimize my old config instead of buying a completely new one and still improve the performance. Hi all,I work for a video production company and our owner has offered to purchase me a new machine for editing as we build our new studio. We aren't producing feature length films or anything but we do have 4K projects that bog down my current machine (which was never intended to be a full-time editing PC but my editing role has expanded in the company). With an eye on the future I only see larger projects and more 4K projects coming down the line so I would like to be prepared with a machine to handle them. I'm not sure what budget she has in mind yet but I wouldn't want to go in with too big of an ask, we don't need anything super high end anyway, but we are a professional production company so I can't cheap out on our systems either. Just wondering if anyone has any pointers on particular PCs and what specs would be good for my needs. Happy to answer any Qs to narrow down what would be best for me! Thanks in advance friends!-JLR

I'm currently editing 4K/60M footage and I'm just not happy with the performance that Premiere is giving me. I could definitely be wrong, but I feel like the playback speed, scrubbing speed, and even the rendering speed is a little slow. I'm playing my sequence back at 1/2 quality and it still skips randomly and I feel like it shouldn't be doing that.Based off the specs I've given you, is my 16GB 3600 DDR4 kit the bottleneck here? I have a gigabyte  x79-ud5 mother board and have been using a hhd for OS and programs, a raid 0 for media, and a raid 0 for scratch, preview, etc.I am now finding this setup to be abit slow for 4k video so I am upgrading to sata  ssd drives. My question here, if possible to answer, is my mother board has 2 sata 3/6gb connections which I would use for OS drive and Media drive since these go direct to the intel x79 chipset. The other sata 6gb connections use marvel chipset and go through a pci express bus. Will it be ok to use the marvell sata for scratch even though some say it is a lil slower? I just built a new "general purpose" PC to replace my backup NLE and general purpose machine.The new machine has a GTX1060 in it. The main machine has 1/4 as much RAM (32GB) as my main NLE, which is a dual Xeon E5-2667 w/128GB and a Titan X.For three years, I have never gotten Premiere to play back smoothly on the dual Xeon. I've been back and forth with Supermicro tech support to tweak the X10DRi motherboard to eek out the last ounce of performance.Fast forward to Dec 2018. I built a midrange system with i7-9770K, only 32GB RAM and a MSI GTX1060 that cost 1/5 of what the Titan X cost me. The lower end PC wipes the floor with with '$15,000 NLE I built in Aug 2015. Hello,I am a student for Graphic Design. I ordered a laptop on amazon with an i7500u processor (2,7ghz base frequency 2 cores/4 Threats), 16gb RAM and 256gb SSD. I received it yesterday and realized they had send the laptop with an i8550u instead (1.8ghz frequency 4 cores/8 threats). Ive been trying to figure it out and do my research to learn about processors and such. I have found out, that a processor with a lower base frequency but more cores can have a better performance but it all depends on what program are being used. But I still do not know what will be best for my purposes. Im a student for Graphic Design, I will mostly be using my internet browser and Adobe InDesign /Photoshop / Illustrator. Sometimes more than one at the same time. Should I keep the i8550 (1.8ghz more cores) or have them send me what I originally ordered (2.7ghz less cores)?
