I have to edit a big time lapse project shoot on GoPro with 4k video time lapse, h264 made in camera (it's 2 months worth of footage, so a lot of scrubbing is needed to find the best stuff)I was wondering if overclocking will improve scrubbing performance and yield less dropped frames. I started a thread two years ago about this PC build and never built it.  I am at the point where I really need to move forward.  The issue is my parts list was old and technology has changed.  I am doing the best I can reviewing other advice and builds and fine tuning it to my needs. If you would be so kind as to review my parts and offer some advice or suggestions.  I really need something that can scrub the timeline with no stuttering and encode a video fast.  If you see where I could save some money please let me know.  As long as it does not hurt performance too much. I'm building a new PC workstation, and am hearing conflicting theories on whether I should stick with Intel because of the software optimization that is biased toward it, or to go with AMD Thread ripper.  Can someone share any advice/knowledge about which of these is the smarter route?  Thank you!

I have some lag when I work.I'm using it for both background and characters (puppets) sometimes very complex, with a lot of lines.No way I'm changing the general style.Maybe my processor is not good enought. Finally going to pull the trigger on building an editing PC this year, so I need some help finishing this (somewhat) budget build. I mostly edit complex 1080p timelines, occasionally working in 4K. I'd like to start with 32GB of RAM for now (is DDR4-2666 good?), then potentially add a couple more 16GB sticks for 64GB down the road. I'm not sure what GPU to get (MSI Duke is a placeholder since it's out-of-stock), but I've read using a GeForce GTX 1080 chipset is ideal/affordable. Not sure if going with a 1060 or 1070 would be an alright compromise for what I'm editing. Good morning,Given the numerous problems of various types encountered lately with Premiere Pro, I was advised to update my CPU.I generally use Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and Illustrator. With the premiere in Full HD, 4K and occasionally with 6K.I would like a processor that allows me a good workflow on the timeline, both in playback and applying effects, obviously setting depth of Bit etc. at most.My indecision is between an Intal i7 8700, an i7 7700k and a Ryzen 7 2700x.My current processor is an Intel Core i7 930 2.80MHz.Thank you.

**Please see System Specs section at the endI've been having a lot of issues regarding timeline playback, moving files in the sequence and minor renders (not exports)..Weirdly I am getting significantly better performance on Machine 2 then I am on Machine 1 even though the specs should outway the other by a long shot.I mainly shoot basic videos, add transitions and on some occasions move over to AE and edit Typography, Visual Graphics and Special Effects etc. (more very heavy duty timelines). On this occasion I haven't even been able to finish cutting my sequence.I have been working with Sony A7SII footage, 4K(UHD) 25fps 100Mbs, Flat Picture Profiles, MP4 format - 50GB worth of footage total.When importing the footage into PP after syncing in PluralEyes, playback is very slow, jittery or freezes while audio continues to play.Pause Res is set to 1/2 - Playback Res set to 1/4 - HQ Playback set to OFF - Size set to FITSequence Settings (tried various) currently DNxHR UHD, also tried DSLR

Hello. I need to edit videos with Premiere Pro, edit with Photoshop, use Character Animator and more. I don't understand a lot from computers so i would be really thankfull if someone can tell me what is needed to be good in a computer so it is fast when using these programs, so i can work on a good machine and export and render videos fast. So i am only posting here in the AE section because I believe this app is a little more hungry than the others...I know RAM might be the single most important factor but if the rest of the system is balanced i would assume the other Adobe app would run well.My rig is about 4 years old with:Asus X-99-E board.i7-596064 gb RAM.GTX-Titan X GPU. M.2 SSD for primary1TB SSD for caching1TB SSD for rendering16TB Areca in Raid 5 for project files (this is a TBolt connection)I was wondering where I can get some gains on this system.  I thought maybe swapping the CPU for the E5 Xeon (comparison below) but there are pros and cons spec-wise.  Maybe removing that Titan since it seems like it not pulling its money's worth...what would you do?  I use PS/AI/ID/PR/LR/AE/AU/SG/BR for apps

Hi there,I see that a few folks are using eGPUs on their Macs with PP2018, but as much as I could find on the web, PP is not really improving much in performance, more like the opposite.Is it worth adding the eGPU? Hi everyone,So few months ago I was asking about one laptop and I never bought it. Now I wanted to buy new Razer 2018, but then we decided to buy new flat, so at the moment Im out of options to go for something $2000+ and Im searching for something budget just for few months, since my old macbook is right about to die. Im editing on it with 1 core working @ 1.2 ghz, no use of geeforce 650M at all (macbook is broken, no battery recognized and so on..).Im in search for something between $500-$800 (or I can say 500-800€). I have no idea what to looking for in that price range, thats why Im asking here for some advices.My videos are all recorded and edited in 1080p, if there is some 4k video, Im always downscale it to 1080p.Cheers,Denis
