Hi,I have been researching around the internett for days trying to find a suitable laptop for editing video. Hello, I have am looking into purchasing a laptop for editing and wondering what my hard drive setup should be. I am looking into purchasing an external SSD usb c drive and wondering if I can fit both my scratch files such as render previews etc as well as my projects and media or if I need another drive for that? the laptops I'm looking into have 1 USBC/Thunderbolt port and up to three usb 3.0 ports. I'm not too sure how fast usb 3.0 really is and if that can efficiently playback render files. I'm used to a PC with all my drives plugged in internally.

I find myself these days having just one laptop which is the Lenovo Ideapad 120s with 30 gb storage of which from the day I bought it brand new it says 28 gb are already used .I guess I cannot use this laptop with Adobe at least for photoshop or is there a way around this? I assume I cannot use the SD storage slot:/Online I read that this version of lenovo doesnt upgrade to more HDD storage either:/

System Specs:i7 4770K 4,4ghz32GB ramSSDsGPU0 and 1: 7970(sli)GPU2: Quadro k5000. have no monitor connected. when rendring i see activity at the 7970's but not the quadro and still i have selected the CUDA option. in both project and app preferences.its looks like if apps just looks at GPU:0 and go whit that and not pay attention to GPU:1 and GPU:2this is when running a render from AE https://imgur.com/a/8TLeti'm only se activity at the fist 7970 card.is the a way to force adobe apps to see the Quadro card?

Gday,I am running a EVGA GTX 1060 FTW+ active with an EIZO CS2730. I need to set up two things:1. Have a 10 bit workflow2. Set up a correct rec709 color space to work inIs anyone experienced in that workflow? I am using my system for video editing and color grading within premiere pro CC 2017. I am running windows 10 pro with the latest nvidia driver.Does my graphic card support 10 bit? Only the displayport?Also what are the correct rec709 values? EIZO ColorNavigator software does not realy have a rec709 preset installed so I found this:Rec. 709 Reference DisplayIs that the correct one?I run through the calibration process with ColorNavigator and SPYDER 5 PRO. Looks fine so far. But did I use the correct profile or shall l calibrate manually? But where do i get the correct color profile settings? There are some discussion about the correct gamma or 2.2 or 2.6 and other values which is a bit confusing.Really appreciate some advise. Thanks, Alex

I've been getting BSOD's when I try to backup my raid.  It's a raid 3. on areca 12238i. 3x8tb seagate ironwolf.I've pasted the system event log details below. Hey all,So my work got me a Dell Precision 7520 to edit on, which has a Radeon Pro WX 4130. I've been editing some light projects with it and it's been fine, but on my latest project I had some more intense work going into it and I noticed it was rendering very slowly. So I went to check and see if Mercury Playback was enabled and it's currently set to 'Software Only' with the drop down grayed out so I can't set it to utilize OpenCL rendering like I would assume my WX 4130 would support. Any ideas on how to fix this?My Laptop has '2' graphics cards because of the Integrated Graphics on the Intel chip (Intel HD Graphics 630), so I think Premiere is using that as a primary graphics chip. The laptop is supposed to have 'swappable graphics' under the settings, but no matter what I set my performance mode to, it doesn't seem to take advantage of the Radeon card.I tried disabling the 630 via device manager, which did then give me the option to enable OpenCL, but Premiere crashes almost immed

Mike Irish sent me a link to this KitGuruTech video today.  If you go to about the 6:30 minute mark, you'll see him test the same bit of video with three video cards, starting with GTX980, and then a GTX1080Ti and finally a Vega 64 Sapphire.  If you ignore the fist result in the table below, which is from a different system, the results are remarkably close, and based on this, you'd have to think carefully before spending serious money upgrading a 900 series card to a 1000 series card.  It might be that his testing regime was flawed, and I don't know how you'd be able to tell that from the information in the video, but it is food for thought on the face of it.I am sure Bill has done similar tests, and will have his own set of results, and I am also sure that Bill's findings would hold more credibility.

Hi I think i have massively messed up. I have bought an IMac mid 2007 via an offer to run photoshop CC 2018. However, when i start to do anything it freezes. Reading more, i think it may not have the memory needed to run the program. It has 4GB RAM.Have i been stupid, i assume? And can i increase the RAM or is it a case of returning it altogether if i need photoshop?Thanks

Need to build a new desktop for AE and Premiere in dynamic link, and looking for recommendations for 4k sfx capable workstation. My current desktop is now 3yrs old and bumping up ram to Ddr3 32G has not improved preview or render speeds for complex projects.Looking at 128G Ram, m2 NVMe drives, Gpu nvidia 1080 ti or Titan, dual or single cpu? mb?Was looking at benchmark tests on Puget Systems site yet all their tests are only with 16G of RAM, which is not enough for any specialised production work which kinda invalidates their tests.From those tests I was looking at an Intel 8700 cpu, however socket 1151 boards only have 4 ram slots.Really appreciate some advise here!

Well this sucks.Combined my old rig with some new parts to make a new workstation PC and Premiere literally won't run. It freezes at opening/making a project and nothing will work.Here's a brief screencap video i recorded showing the problem in action. I've left Premiere alone in this Not Responding state for as much as 30 or more minutes with nothing changes. It can use 400-500MB of RAM or 4-6GB of RAM. No consistency. CPU and RAM usage is unchanging as it sits there. While open, Premiere is utilizing 2 random CPU threads at 100%This is a fresh Windows 10 x64 installation. Full "Fall Creators Update" latest public updates.Things I have tried:Clearing the cache files (there aren't any, new Windows install)Updating GPU drivers (on the latest, new Windows Install)Switching Premiere from CUDA to Software mode when making a new projectOpening old projectschanging the cache location before making a new projectchanging Cache and scratch location before making a new projectChanging target loc
