I would appreciate some input as to what might be a good hard drive configuration to use to edit video with PPro on our Win 10 notebook computer. We also need to be able to transfer projects to other desktop PCs fairly frequently so portability is highly desirable. The notebook is currently configured with an internal 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s HD and a Samsung 960 EVO 250GB M.2 drive for the OS. External ports available for possible external HD options include two USB 3.1 Gen 2/Thunderbolt 3 Combo Ports (Type C), two USB 3.0 (USB 3.1 Gen 1) ports, and one USB 2.0 port. From reading posts here it seems that Samsung T3 drives are quite highly regarded. Were we to go with the T3 option, would we benefit from more than one T3 and what would be a good way to configure HD usage within PPro projects (Scratch Disks, Media, etc.).

Hello all.After posting about artifacts appearing in my videos rendered from Premiere and After Effects (see Artifacts in the playback window and exports ), it seems like the issue popped up again. I contacted both NVIDIA support and Adobe support via chat and essentially one was pointing the finger at the other and giving me a ¯\_(ツ)_/¯My situation is that I need a graphics card for my Windows 10 PC that will run an Oculus Rift and be good for VR gaming--because that's the line of work I'm in--AND run Adobe CC video apps like Premiere and After Effects.NVIDIA says that I would need a Quadro card to use with Adobe apps, but that I'd need GTX 10XX for VR gaming. I usually run Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop at the same time, on Windows 7 64-bit PC. Occasionally, I use Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro. What are the system requirements I need to especially run InDesign CC, Illustrator CC, and Photoshop CC at the same time?  I saw the individual system requirements listed for each app, however does that change when running multiple apps simultaneously?  My computer at work is no longer holding up and I would like to know what to request.Thanks,Kendra

What do you guys think is better for Premiere/AFX? Is it true a Cuda card will perform better than an Open GL? This is the XPS I am thinking about...Most of my clients all use Macs, but usually I will use a program called Mac drive when I need to edit off a Mac formatted drive. Im not sure how risky that is. Hello. I need some advice from experienced users in order to buy a sh workstation for photo processing (Lightroom, Photoshop) and sometime video editing in Premiere. Some friend of mine is selling a hp workstation for @ 1000 euro and I wanted to know if it's a good move. Hey everyone!I'm going to be picking up a laptop in the next month or so to edit on while I'm away from my desktop.  I'm wondering what your opinions are on:15.6" screen vs 17.3"1920x1080 vs 4k screen resolution.Here's my use case, if you need any further insight.  I use PP for editing and AE for motion graphics. I edit in 1080p and I do a lot of dynamic linking.  I'm mostly on my desktop, but while I'm away I'd like to be able to access and work on my active projects.  When i have a strong internet connection, I'll be using a remote desktop service like gotomypc so my desktop can continue to do the heavy lifting. I've tested this with my wife's laptop and it works well.  I'll also be using a cloud service to sync my desktop work drive with my laptop work drive so i can edit offline when needed.Which brings me back to my original question: i can't decide between 15" and 17",  and between 1080 and 4k.I'd prefer a 15" 1920x1080 laptop like the gigabyte Aero

I work at a non-profit where we do video editing in Premiere. I have been tasked with getting a new computer. I am looking at ai7-7700k (4.2 Quad-Core)32GB DDR4 RAM GTX 1080 or 1080 Ti512GB Samsung m.2 960 Pro2TB WD Black for additional storageBuilt by Digital Storm.With this build, I see that the 1080 and 1080 Ti are not listed in the supported GPU list from Adobe. Do these work and will they be recommended later? I don't want to get stuck with a beast of a graphics card that Adobe does not play well with. To add, is the i7-7700K good enough or would a step up to the i7-6800K (6-Core but benchmarks don't seem to be affected much) be a better route?

I received the computer with the original small videocard GT 120 in it (which I still need if the nvidia drivers get disabled, but I removed it for now). It does, but I thought 'Hey, I can still use those high quality components in my next machine'.BUTNow I'm in trouble. Playback in premiere pro? I am trying to get some faster render times and I am looking at upgrading from a 980ti to the Titan Z.I am working almost entirely with 4K H264 files from a GH4 or Phantom 4 with some occasional Canon 4K from a 5D Mark IVWhen I am doing the final rendering in Media Encoder the CPU stays below 50%, Memory stays below 50%, and the Disk I/O is not bad. I am building a new computer which will be used for many things but a lot of video editing and some photo. I was wondering if anyone that is familiar with Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects could help out or anyone that thinks they know. I was wondering if a person could use 2 SSD drives in raid 0 for the scratch disk and media cache drive. I know raid 0 is not as safe as only one drive or any other kind of raid but I can get two smaller SSD drives for a great price and much cheaper than one larger one. I know it will even make the SSDs faster. Anyone care to comment? Thanks.Also, what is the most common scratch disk and media cache drive size?

After discussion with Adobe tech support it seems I may be getting crashes because my current card has too little memory so I've ordered a new one.My old card is  GTX 760 with 2GB ram and the one I've ordered is a GTX 1080 with 8GB.When I install the new card, should I leave the old on in? Hey guys,I was wondering if anyone here has been using a RAID0 system for a fast storage solution for media on active projects, and how good is it? I am looking into a 3x4TB RAID0 system. I will also have 12TB in backup storage and 8TB in yearly archive storage.I initially thought of getting a 1TB Samsung 960 PRO but was told that it was overkill, considering the bandwidth required from most camera codecs I will be processing (RED/A7s/C100).My friend recommended I get HGST NAS drives as they have low failure rates and good specs all around. They can sustain 200MB/s read speeds, so a RAID0 theoretically would be close to three times that amount. Not bad at $140 for the 4TB versions. He also mentioned that I should be able to software RAID0 with my Asrock X370 Taichi motherboard, so no need for a separate RAID controller.My other system specs feature a Ryzen 1700x, 32GB 2933Mhz RAM, 1080Ti GPU, 250GB 960 PRO (OS), 250GB 850 EVO (Cache).

I have a late 2013 Mac Pro running Adobe PP with two unused thunderbolt ports. The graphics card is a AMD FirePro D500 with two slots supporting the existing two screens. I need to install a third edit screen which will need a breakout box, something like a Blackmagic UltraStudio. Does anyone have any suggestions of the best way to do this? Also does anyone know of an engineer in Southwest London that could support me on a three month edit?

First post here, and looking for some insight. I'm music director for a large Catholic church, but I wear several hats and do all our video production / media / etc. My current Z820 workstation is about 5 years old with a K3000 Quadro card, and really showing it's age.  I work with lots of 4K files (some RAW) from A7S, aerial, etc. So file sizes get big depending on the overall project. My biggest question on this build is the graphics card for use in both Premiere and After Effects. Naturally the Quadro cards are what Adobe quotes as supporting, but those come at a big cost. Is it worth going with one the Quadro's (P4000 or P5000) directly from HP, or should I be looking at one or multiple GTXs installed after ordering the system?Right now the main specs are: Xeon E5-2643 v4: 3.4GHz 6-core64GB 2400 ECC RAM512GB PCIE SSD2x - 256GB SSD2x - 2TB 7200rpm SATA HDLeaving the graphics card as the big question. Hello can any one explain me how to connect my iMac + dell monitor + projector with black magic design ultra studio express

hi people,I use a number of external drives, connected to my 2011 iMac,for video production.  Most are USB2, a couple are Firewire 800,and more recently, a Thunderbolt drive.My write / read speeds for the drives are about like this:USB:  23 / 30FIREWIRE:  70 / 60THUNDERBOLT:  150 / 140these are megabytes per second i believe.I can get by editing HD video, just using the USB2 drives,but obviously, there's some playback issues if I'm using 2 or 3camera shoots in a timeline.I'm thinking of trying out the firewire drives, but someone tole methat firewire can only communicate in one direction, therefore notgood for video work.  is this true?The thunderbolt drive is brand new and I have not yettried it out for video work, but am thinking that it will bethe best, and I can simply use the older drives for archives.thanks for any comments.(I'm using mostly AVCHD & XAVC-S in HD resolution)thanks!

Hi everyone again, my Sons new 1700X Ryzen Editing PC has been built, and my Son will start using it next Monday, using an existing 24" 1080p Dell UltraSharp Screen, and he wants to grab a new 4k or UHD Screen of some sort to use with the new PC, but not sure what to get.After building the new PC, his funds are now limited, so i will buy it for him, as long as it is within a budget of around $1000au ($700us)I have always like Dell Screens myself, so it would be interesting to find out what others think, and should he get a 4k, or a UHD screen.Cheers.

This seems to be a big issues as I see this problem on forums and discussion boards across the internet and while some have fixed it or made it better there is no definitive global fix. I am the sole video producer for a hospitality company and have a very large creative leash in what I can create but am often bottle-necked by frequent crashes, painful loading times, complete computer lock-ups, and various other issues.
