How do I scan from printer to pdf so that it comes out readable, not sure if it is printer or adobe, always worked fine before I updated the adobe to Pro DC

Sorry..not sure what you mean by OS..it is updated to the latest which now I wish I had left it in the old version as this worked perfectly. I use an Apple Mac but this should make no difference. I have checked the scanners settings and these seem to be right, as I said I was having no problems till the upgrade and everything I try in adobe has to be paid for whereas in the old version it was free, maybe that is the catch, I just don't have the funds to pay for it.
