    One you can do; lengthen the song. That's quite easy if you use Clip>Remix in multitrack view.

    The other though, you almost certainly won't be able to do at all. Removing instruments from a previously mixed track is like trying to unbake a cake back to its basic ingredients; you simply can't do that effectively at all. Especially with something like a violin, which has a lot of harmonics. Sometimes you can reduce the level of a voice if it's in the centre of a stereo field, but a violin is very unlikely to be there, and is very likely to have other instruments in the same position, so even if you reduce it, other things will suffer.

    The final problem though is that you're starting from an MP3. This is a compressed distribution file format, and not intended for manipulation - the quality loss if you play around with them is significant, as they have to be decoded and re-encoded when you've finished.

    Bottom line, I'm afraid, is that you shouldn't believe everything you see on CSI - that's fiction.

    Thank you so much Steve I greatly appreciate your answer, I have tried for two days now to get an answer and you just did that so well for me.

    May I ask you just a couple more questions;

    I basically just want to edit files for my piano  keyboard so I can manipulate them around to my liking when I play a solo without running out of the tracking music. (those are my needs)

    some songs I need to have a longer intro on the mp3, can I make the intro longer?

    I want to play a solo in the middle section of my mp3 can I cut and copy another area of music and past it were I want to do my own thing playing, that would allow me to not rely on the main melody of the song, also can I stretch the song out so it plays longer?

    If I can only purchase midi and mps songs for my keyboard what format am I looking for to purchase online so I can edit in the audition software and save as a midi file?

    I hope I have not confused you, I am a bit confused as to what I can edit and youtube is not helping.

    I appreciate your help greatly!

    Yes you can cut and paste audio from your file to make it longer. That's what Audition is all about. Also if you just want a longer arrangement of the song use the Remix feature in Audition to automatically make a longer version.

    Audition is only an audio recording and file editing/mixing software. It doesn't have any MIDI facilities. For that you would need to use some DAW Sequencer software which Adobe don't make.
