Can I update an old Cp 8 course by updating its template with a new one?

I have created Course_101 created from Template_101.cptl. Later on I updated the logo in Template_101.cptl and wish to update Course_101.cptx. Is there an easy way of doing this?

Do I just:

  • Create a new Template with the new changes, calling it Template_101v2.cptl
  • Create a new project based on Template_101v2.cptl
  • Copy and paste slides from Course_101.cptx

Not sure how to go about this. Hoping there is an easier way to update past projects than if above were the only the solution.

Thanks in aadvance -

Kevin

Where is that logo appearing on slides? I find the work flow with templates too cumbersome, especially since you cannot apply a template to an existing course at all. That was the only way for consistency until Captivate 5.5. From 6 on, the way to go is with a theme. If that template was created with 8, it did have a theme. You can edit the theme, which includes all object styles, master slides and skin. Will that not be sufficient? The big advantage of a theme is that it can be applied to an existing project.

Ths is so fantastic. Thank you so much Lieve for the link to your site. It was a huge help. Now that I understand - I don't understand why people use templates myself either.

All the best.

You understand my frustration as well? So much bad/confusing training and books about Captivate. It is the reason I sometimes blog about features that seem to me to be totally neglected everywhere.
