Questions

Just installed Captivate because I want a way to publish my powerpoint slides to HTML5.  I can do this fine with iSpring which works within PP,  but it seems Captivate is not able to open/import pptx files.  I have a lot of animation, etc, and it seems the only way to get this to work is by saving my Power Point files as .ppt only.   Why can't Captivate import pptx files directly?  Or am I doing something wrong? 

 HelloWhen I go to publish my modules I am seeing the following message, 'Some slides or objects in this project are not supported in HTML5 format. You can locate items using window>HTML5 Tracker. Do you want to continue? What does this mean for my project? Thank you  

I have produced a software simulation over 300 slides and I have recorded a voice over attached to nearly every slide. I have saved the module as a zip file and have published it onto the LMS of choice at my place of work. But when I am playing the modules they are taking a long time to load, they keep pausing to load and the voice over is getting delayed. Can anyone think this might be, are the modules too large? Thank you,Jess

Dear Captivate Community, hope that anyone can help.When I use animated GIFs in my project (HTML5) i face two problems. With Firefox everything works fine, Chrome, IE and Edge have the problems. 1st problem: when the page of the Captivate training starts the animated GIF plays fine. When I switch page and later come back to the page with the GIF, the GIF stays "played" and is not playing again... 2nd problem: I put the same animated GIF into one page 3 times. In the timeline i let them play one after the other. My problem is that the first Animation works fine and the two following are not starting... Someone else facing this problems and maybe solved them? Hi all, I need some help here. I uploaded my SCORM to Blackboard.  2 out of 10 quiz questions are giving me issues as the answer options cant be seem. When I view the local copy of the SCORM, the quiz questions are all fine.  What can be the issue and any advice on this? Thanks in advance.

Hello. I have posted a couple of times about my custom quiz that I have created for a course. My quiz is completely custom, including custom design and custom functionality using advanced actions and variables. In the quiz preferences I have set the passing score to 70 points or higher, with the maximum amount of points set to 94 points. I have customized the quiz results slide to show total quiz points earned by user, maximum points and the percentage using system variables. When I run the course and it gets to the quiz results slide, it only shows the maximum amount of points available. What am I missing? Why isn't the quiz score showing? Am I missing any variables on the individual quiz question slides?

Right now, unless I'm scrubbing, Captivate displays all objects for the entire timeline. Is there a way to only show what would be on that frame instead of showing me everything at the same time, ala every other software? The imminent death of Flash has forced us to build in Captivate, and i can't say I'm loving how cluncky this software is. -Thanks

In a quiz you get an mouseOver-effect that highlights the answer. See picture.Where can i change the colour of this?Still using Captivate 2017 in this project, but can update to the newest version if necessary.Only using HTML5-Export, so it would be no problem to look at the generated code and change something if I know what to search for.

So what is the secret or is there a secret at all?I have about 5 slides in an eLearning course I'm developing each slide uses buttons on the left to access an area on the right of the screen with multiple states. For example,  4 buttons on the left of the screen with different topics each button will display a different screen or state on the right with its related content and information. I actually downloaded and used Captivates Tab Interaction 01 and 02, Aspire assets and modified them to my needs. These tab interactions initially have static texts and maybe an image or two and that is it. I have attempted to add additional interaction such as have the text come in from the bottom timed to the audio clip for that state but there is no timeline for the audio to follow or sync it to, I find myself doing a hit and miss with the seconds and it is very challenging. On one screen I have about 6 textboxes that appear with an image and as each text box appears a specific part

Hi all,I would like to get a QR code for sharing a project with classmates. When I select publish to device these are the screens (presented backwards, sorry) that I get. Not sure how to proceed or if I am even in the right spot. Help? 

I've got a series of 1024 x 768 slides containing typing. These need cropping down to 400 x 300.At full size they work fine, but after cropping the text publishes with vertical lines appearing between the letters.I've been working with C5 for a while and this is the first time that this has happened.It looks like when the timing's set too fast on a text animation.I'm running 5.0.2.630.Is anyone else experiencing this?

I’m having an issue with Captivate where the Slide Audio window is partially populated and can’t be closed due to missing buttons on the bottom right of the window. I believe it’s a display issue because there are certain display settings that allow me to see partial bottom buttons on the left but not the right. I am working remotely from a laptop that is linked to my office workstation. None of my colleagues are having this issue. what could be the problem??

Dear members, I have a problem with a Captivate project (2017) on IOS with Firefox. The project is a HTML5 application that consists of several parts. As mentioned in the title, the videos don't work there, more precisely picture and sound are not displayed. But this problem only occurs if the autoplay function for the export is enabled and additionally the play button at the beginning of each application part is disabled by a change in the CPM.js file (see link at the end). Chrome and the other browsers on IOS do not have this error. But on the other hand they still show the play button.On Windows and with every browser this problem is nonexistant, but this application needs to also work on IOS devices.I know this is a complicated question, but if you have experience with IOS and Captivate and can help me, I'd be happy to hear from you. In summary: I want the play button to not appear at the beginning of the application and I want the videos to work nevertheless. Link:http://vito

When attempting to use the tab button to select buttons on the progress bar, the TOC button is completely skipped over.  What sort of issue or unchecked function would cause a visible button in the progress bar to be skipped in the tabbing process?

I have this bug, which is probably due to a lot of copy and pasting. I have a project with tons of smart shapes that are used as buttons (many of them have a custom state that I have named Selected). I use retain state for many of them but not all. I also have a few text boxes. When I click the back button on the navigation bar or on a button on the slide to revisit a slide, the text boxes and buttons are scattered all over the slide. What happens is that the css top is changed to something else on slide revisit. I have tried various settings and no luck. I updated the preferences and deleted the layout folder, as per suggestion on another thread that mentioned a very similar issue. I tried creating a brand new smart shape, and it also moves up or down on the slide on a revisit. I would prefer not to recreate all of these items as there are so many advance actions associated with them that would then need to be recreated as well. This one is for all those Greensock experts out there.I recently became aware of Greensock through others posting questions about it in the forums.It looked pretty cool so I decided to start messing around with it. I used Greensock to create an animation and uploaded it as an HTML5 Animation into Captivate 11.5.1.499 When I do a preview - it behaves as expected and pulling data from the iframe works as well.When I publish, however, the animation itself works fine but the data is no longer accessible. The file (the HTML embedded iframe one) becomes "restricted" and labeled as a cross-origin document. The file, of course is dropped into the  /wor/wo_xxxx  folder and seems like it should be part of the same domain so I am struggling to find my way around this puzzle. The console returns an ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND about an "undefined" directory.I am simply not finding the source/solution of this issue. Hi thereI am creating training material on captivate 2017 and i can only seem to make the text and animations work through the time line. I want the user to click through the animations and text boxes with their mouse so they can read at their pace. Powerpoint animations can work like this? Please help. Thanks

Hey community, does any one know how to specify the background that the SCORM slides are played over. At the moment they are over a black or white background (see image attached)  But we would like to play them over a backgound with an image (see image attached). Any advise is greatly appreciated, thank you 🙂

In Captivate 8 after publshing course to html 5 output, If user attempt Mulitple choice question and proceed. if user traverse back or forth the quiz selected option is not showing. Please help with setting for the same.

I would be greatful if someone could help with an issue I have had since installing Captivate. Each time I try to preview a project I get the below error. I think it is linked to responsive projects as I get the error trying to preview a blank responsive project. I can preview simple projects. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 

Newbie question!Is it possible to have a multiple choice quiz with "round" check fields instead of square? My quiz has both single choices and multiple choices slides, and it looks strange that some slides will have round check fields and some square check fields.Thanks!!!
