I found this function elsewhere on the forum:  cp.changeState("currentState,"newState");So if my current state is "Normal" (Default) and the new state is called "Chosen" - I assume I can just add Javascript to a button with the line:cp.changeState("Normal","Chosen"); And this should change the state on button click. But this doesn't seem to work.  Could somebody explain where I'm going wrong?     

Has anyone experience of how to post a calendar entry to an iPhone calendar from a mobile captivate module.  I have used an outlook generated .ics item linked to a button by URL, but iphone will not open it.  Any ideas/solutions?

Hi, I have created an effect in Captivate 2019 where the end user selects a button and additional information (text on shape group) eases in from the right. I created the effect on the button by selecting Apply Effect on the button's Properties panel, selecting the object name (in this case group) and then selecting the desired effect.  It works fine in preview but when I publish to HTML, SWF or both, it does not work. A colleague and I have tried a number of options including advanced actions etc and we are stumped. Any help would be appreciated. Megan.

I use to be able to click on the slide Accessibility to get a notes box.  Here you could add the slide notes which screen readers could read.  I cannot get it to open this week.Has anyone else run into this issue - or has the accessibility been taken out?Thank you.

Is it possible to create a clickable navigation button and sub buttons that also has an X to close the menu? Using Captivate 2019. Thank you.

Hello everyone, For some reason, my web object opens automatically as a popup in my Captivate course. I've created an HTML5 course in the 2019 Captivate version 11.5.1.499. On the slide, I've added a web object and entered a web address, which is a direct link to a PDF inside of the Adobe Connect learning environment. I've selected it to display in slide, with border and scrolling. I've chosen it to autoload and to retain state on slide revisit. When I test the project or publish it, and my project advances to the side with the web object, it automatically opens in a new popup window and shows the Adobe Connect login screen. I want to add that I have tested this with other PDFs inside the Adobe Connect environment and DON'T have the same problem. The difference between these two PDFs is that the PDF that opened in a popup needs Adobe Connect login credentials because it is secured. The other PDF doesn't. Still, shouldn't the Adobe Connect login screen stay on t

Captivate 9I've read a few of the posts on the Success Completion Criteria, but havent found a solution for what Im facing.It seems simple. I'm developing a series of captivate project courses, publishing to html SCORM 1.2.Each project course is 20-25 slides, and each has one slide where there is a click box. The user has two attempts to click the click box, which is set up in the Propoerties/Reporting panel to be incluced in Quiz. See image of it below.We also have the requirement for the user to land on each slide (100% slide views).I am getting mixed results in my testing in the LMS. One sco goes to complete on launch (opening, hitting play, exiting on slide 1) and the other only needs to click the click box successfully, but not 100% click views.They are both set as follows:Any advice on how to make this project require the one click box was clicked successfully and that every slide was viewed?Thanks!

I am having a problem with students hacking the captivate quiz questions by using browser developer tools to discover correct answers for quiz questions by inspecting javascript code.  It turned out to be incredibly easy for the students to accomplish this and teach others to cheat as well.  I wrote some javascript code with variables that held the correct answers.  My javascript functions were stored in a file that was read in by the code that executes with the code in index_scorm.html.  The students simply searched for "correct" and found variables using that partial name from which they could learn the run time values by displaying them in the console.  OK, that vunerability was my fault for putting the code in a file because there, it can be inspected from a webpage displaying any page in the course.  I have fixed this flaw in my code.  But I don't have a good understanding of what other information can be discovered using developer tools.  D

Hi, I'm having problems with the build-in browser in Captivate. It's near impossible to use. Afternoon All, I have a query about the menu option "Merge with the background" and what does it do: I have some areas where I would like to change the background. An example is: And would like to block out the RL. I have created a separate object that does this, see below: I then heard about the function "Merge with the background", but when I use it the white space is being lost and it is going back to the original.  Am I doing something wrong or misinterpreted what this function does? The background itself is an image taken from a simulation and not part of the master slide. Thinking off the top of my heard since I created the CBT I have resized it (slightly taller) and positioned the original image at the "Bottom Centre". Could it be positioning it wrong since when I try another object to merge I get (red line indicating where it should be):  Many thanksPhil.

I'm working on a course where the learner watches a video and is supposed to identify micro-expressions on a person's face...when the expression starts, when it peaks, and when it ends.   I'm able to use micro-navigation (thank you Lilybiri) to allow the learner to move an embedded video forward and backward frame by frame.  But, my client wants the learner to be able to watch the video at full speed, 1/2 speed, 1/4 speed, etc. to locate the expression and then narrow it down to specific frames (or range of frame).  Some of the vidoes are 10-seconds long, but some are 2-3 minutes, so stopping the video and going one frame at a time is going to get tedious.   Is anyone aware of a method to dynamically change the FPS? Any and all help is greatly appreciate.v/rJay

Hi,I uploaded video in Adobe Captivate and played it, it is playing well with out any issues. But after making SCORM 1.2 version compatable video and verified in Preview left side player screen is cutting off. Refer to the attachment for details and help me on this issue.

(Using Captivate 9 11.5.1.499 on Windows 10)  I am working on several modules that were copies of a base program.  Before publishing for the LMS, I decided to clean up the old unused Advanced Actions.  To do this, I pull up an advanced action and select the "USAGE" button.  The resulting window is blank (which makes sense since this was an Advanced Action from the original coursethat was copied).  I select the TRASHCAN icon to delete the Advanced Action and get a warning; "This action is used by one or more events.  Deleting it will restore these events to their defaults.  Do you want to proceed?"When I select "YES" to proceed, I get a message saying "Script is used by one or more events.  Please clear the references before deleting."  At the company I'm working for, we do not used "Shared Actions" and the script I am trying to delete only has an action of "CONTINUE".  So it doesn't seem tied to anything but I still cannot del

I have identified an issue in my Adobe Captivate 2019 design where a Text Entry Box is used to test the user's response to the task of filling in data in a form. Incorrect input triggers a failure feedback shape to the side of the TEB, and the feedback shape has a highlight box surrounding the TEB which was added to the shape in state view. My intention was to draw attention to the correct area for inputing data whenever the TEB focus is lost. This appears to work in slide preview, but not in browser preview or in ScormCloud, where the highlight box seems to be on top of the HTML stack, which prevents the user from putting the focus back on the TEB to continue the exercise after the focus is lost. I'm looking for suggestions for how this design with a border around the TEB might work before I just delete the highlight box from the feedback shape state view. Lowering the stack order of the hightlight box or the feedback shape did not work. Thanks in advance! Before focus lost:After

I'm developing a course and added videos. They were working fine then all of a sudden they went blank and are no longer visible after publishing. Did Adobe change something in an update that might have caused this? I saved the videos in media encoder as a H264 so it was HTML5 compatable. I then imported them in through Media, saved it a Event Video, with a Progressive download, Does anyone know how to resolve this issue so that I can get the videos back? Please help.

I have a request from one of our training managers to see if it is possible for Captivate / SCORM to report both the number of attempts it takes to pass a Quiz, and what the failed scores are for each attempt the student did not pass. I'm looking at the SCORM options in the Project Info and I'm not seeing anything that would allow this. Our courses report to SumTotal, so even if it is capable to transmitting this data, I'm not sure if it would be available to pull for reporting purposes. Thoughts?

I'm new to Captivate and have a trial of Captivate 2019.  I'm investigating it to begin building training modules but have a couple questions. How do you force the completion of the entire length of a video?  Currently in what I've created I find that the student could still fast forward during the video or jump ahead in other slides that have audio.  I want to force the completion of the content. In a Question slide or a Knowledge Check slide, if the student answers incorrectly, how do you force the student to go back a few slides to re-review the content that had already been viewed. Thanks, if you have any helpful tips or places to go for tuturials I would appreciate it.

Hi,  is anyone experiencing difficulty when using a linked Vimeo interactive video?  My vidoes are either cutting off 2 seconds before the end or looping for an extra 2 seconds or sometimes working just fine!  I'm pulling my hair out, am i missing something?   Thanks 

I was able to get my Captivate project onto a web server. Is there a way I can retrieve data that the user enters into a text entry field (such as a name) to a google sheet? I took a look at the eLearning Brothers video on how to set it up but I was not able to get it work.

I have created an original animated GIF using the latest version of Photoshop.I exported the file from Photoshop using:File -> Export -> Save for Web (legacy) I can preview the animated GIF in a browser, and it animates correctly. My problem is that when I import this in to Captivate (also the latest version), Captivate gives me a message that says "This file is not an animted GIF", which is of course incorrect. So I have a source file created by an Adobe product that is not be accepted by another Adobe product - (Captivate) Is this a problem w/ Captivate? Or is it a problem with my exporting technqiue?If the P'shop technique I am using to export the animated GIF is not the right one, what is the correct technique?I am using Windows 10 on a very well-provisioned setup - i5/6 cores, 32 gigs RAM, two video cards.Below is the animated GIF:

I have a drag and drop slide (not a graded quiz slide), and I see there's a way to set up the number of attempts, but no option for try again feedback after all but the last attempt. Does setting this up require incremental variables and conditional advanced actions? It seems like a basic, common thing to want to do. I'd like 3 attempts total, with a slide reset and Try Again feedback on attempts 1 and 2, and a Failure caption with the answer on attempt 3. I was trying to increment a variable when an incorrect answer is submitted, so that the 1 and 2 values sent a Try Again and a 3 value sent the Failure caption. Couldn't even get close 🙂
