Newbie here! I seem to be running into a lot of limitations in Captivate - is it me, or the app?

I am very new to using Adobe Captivate, so new that at the moment I'm still playing around with the 30 day trial version, which appears to be the most recent version of the app. I'm feeling very frustrated, and I'm sure it's down to my inexperience, but it seems very limited.

For example, I'd like to have a background image of floorplan with buttons which, when pressed, would take learners to a specific lesson for that room in the house (this is a home first aid module), but the buttons all seem to be locked in place and can only be moved left or right. I also tried the hotspot as an option, but of course they're not geared to that.

At the moment, I feel like I can do more with H5P or even Powerpoint. What am I missing, and what should I be looking at to improve?

Have you tried just using click boxes? They can be reshaped/resized and placed wherever you want them to be. You can eitehr make the click box cover the entire "room" in the floorplan, or you can simply make it cover a shape that you insert or create in captivate to represent a button.

Additionally, all shapes that you can build in captivate and even images you insert can be changed to a button. There is a checkbox in the properties panel that allows you to do this. Once it's a button, you can still style it and move it however you wish, but it will now be clickable.

Hi Wendy,

Your feeling can give you frustration, I understand, and for sure, others trial users can share it!

If you have time, and don't loose your interest to develop elearning content with this tool, I propose to organize a short demonstration of 20-30 min to make Adobe Captivate more appealing.

Best regards,
