I'm new to Character Animator so this is my first puppet. I've started with the blank.ai file and modified it to what you see above. I'm not sure what went wrong with the eyes but they are normally eliptical and squish and contort when the pupils move. I've tried resetting the eyes and re-rigging them with no success. I've also changed them from elipses to circles and that doesn't fix the issue. Do you have any suggestions for what to try next? (I tried to post the AI file but keep getting the error "The contents of the attachment doesn't match its file type.)
Is it possible to use an image in photoshop as a character/puppet? I know that each piece of the puppet needs to be a different layer but has anyone ever tried to take an image and then copy and paste each part onto a layer once the image was already completed. For example, I may have an artist that will draw my cartoon. But they will only do it on a single layer. Has anyone ever gone back and copied and pasted each part of the image onto their own layers and then uised it as a puppet?
Is it possible to consolidate swap sets (ie hands) from different profiles (Frontal, Left, Right)? I’ve tried without any luck. Am I missing something?
Hello, There are certain scenes where we would like to be able to show the back of a character (walking to a door, talking to someone, etc.) rather than just looking straight forward or to the side. CA doesn't appear to offer a built-in reverse pose. Has anyone been able to find a workaround to accomplish this? Thanks! Cheers
Is there anyway of colouring the timeline layers and different takes withing the timeline as you can in after effects and Premiere?
File was opening fine about a week ago. Not sure why this has started occuring. Any suggestions please. I have moved the project file onto my desktop and an external hardrive and am still receiving the same error when opening from all locations. Any help appreciated!! 🙂
Hello everyone,First time posting here, but I'm hoping you can help. I'm rigging my first character and for some reason the pupil on the right side of my character won't stay in bounds despite having the Right Pupil Range tag. The left is working fine. They seem to be rigged appropriately. Any idea what could cause this? If I remove the tag the pupil stays in place (but doesn't move) which is less than ideal. HELP.
In Character Animator, if I have a puppet loaded and then edit the source file in Photoshop, the edited layers are doubled in CA. Even closing and reopening the project doesn't help. What to do??

Hello. I got adobe chacter animator on my laptop recently. I came across a issue while trying to import custom audio. I imported the .wav file into CH. And it was in the history window. Just below it told me to drag and drop onto the timeline. But it wont let me drag it. When i click it it lets me listen to it. But it wont let me drag the audio down to the timeline. Any one know why I cant?
Hello, Feature Request:I would like my puppet to be able to maintain arm positions (wrists and elbows) even while turning to different body positions (frontal, right quarter, right profile). Currently, I drag the elbows and arms into a desired position for the Frontal body position, and then when the puppet moves to the Right Quarter body position, I need to drag the elbows and wrists again into that same position. Ideally, I would love to have the ability to carry-over any desired dragger handle positions into multiple body positions. This would greatly speed up my workflow for scenes where the puppet is constantly moving across body positions. Thanks,
Hello, My puppets have many dragger handles (elbows, wrists, knees, toes....), however, in the timeline all of these dragger handles are simply titled as "Handle ()", even though each handle is appropriately tagged as elbow, wrist, knee etc... Is there a way for these handles to be named for what they actually are? It woud help reduce confusion if I could easily see which take was for which specific dragger handle.
Hello,When creating hands, what ever the pose wanted, it's important to keep track if the hands if the fingers or palm is forward, or if the back of the hand is forward. Right? Can the angle of flex be controlled arm movement? Thanks
Hello,I need my puppet to speak 3 languages. Does the lip sync work the same way what ever language is spoken? Thanks
I don't know if this is how it is intended to function...I recorded triggers for a layer of a puppet then made the layer shareable. When I returned to the timeline, the recorded triggers no longer were named and had question marks. The triggers of the original layer no longer show when the root puppet layer is selected, but do show when I select the layer I that I had made into a shareable puppet. The shareable puppet also shows the triggers I created when I select it.I think I'm not clear what is happening when I create a shareable from a layer.thx
Hello and Help. I want to create a shareable rigged arm puppet that I can reuse on different puppets. However since every puppet has different arm color, every time I import the arm puppet for a character I would like to be able to individually edit the original to make a neew copy of this arm puppet with new costume. Yet still retain all the triggers. Is there a workflow for this? Do you have any ideas or links that could help me out. I would very much appreciate any help. Thanx
Only open walk behavior. When walking to left, body and head tilt to left, when walking to right, body and head tilt to right. So how to control tilt strength when walking
Hello All,I am creating a Character Animator project for e-learning purposes. My organization has a mascot (a cute bear) that doesn't have a discrete head separate from the body. His shape is somewhat similar to a chubby Mr. Peanut body type. The facial features occupy the top part of the 'peanut', and he has arms and legs attached to the lower. I am having difficulty figuring out how to rig the body and head parts so that everything works in CA 2020. I am somewhat new to this software, so I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question. Any advice?P.S. Due to strict branding rules, I am unable to upload an image or puppet, I hope my description was clear enough. Sorry!

I am going to be hiring a freelance animator and will be sending them a Character Animator Project for them to use. Is there any way to make it so they are not able to steal my puppet? Thanks
So I'm very new to adobe character animator, and I'm creating my first puppet. I've managed to get the lip synch and facial tracking down, but my next step was to create draggable points. I added to draggable points on the hands and used sticks to ensure the arms move like bones, but when I drag the puppet the entire drawing moves. Ill recorded a video of what I mean but don't know how to post it here.
