Hello, I am a novice at this so please bear with me. I commissioned a puppet to be designed. After I walk through the oksamurai training on rigging I am getting the following issue: Any idea of what I am doing wrong?Here is the rigging I have set up thus far.Your help would be very appreciated.. Hi, When I let my puppet walk, the bottom of the face moves with the body down and up but the top of the head stays still. I need to move my head tag down to the bottom of the head but the tag can not be moved. I saw in the video of Okay Samurai that his head tag looks different than my head tag and his head tag was able to move: A neck tag does not solve the problem wherever I put it.Does someone know the solution?
Is there anyone on here that loves to aniamte as a hobby and for fun? If so is there someowhere on this platfrom that we can share your/our/my animation videos that we're working on or have worked on? If so please let me know. Thanks
I have tried to create a new puppet using Character Animator and Photoshop, but I am having trouble animating the tail and mouth. Looking to see if anyone is willing to help a newbie.
Hi! I'm rigging a puppet with three views. The walk cycle works perfectly on one, but on the other the feet smear and distort instead of maintaining their structure and moving along with the legs. Both views are rigged the same as far as I can tell. Any idea what could be doing this? Thank you!!
Hi all! I have a puppet the was created in the 2021 version CH. When I load it in the 2022 updated versions a lot of her rigging doesn't work such as arms not being draggable in certain positions and other issues and bugs. Is there a way to still use this puppet in the current CH version without having to redo all of its rigging? Thanks!
Is it possible to create a common space for making films?(like a virtual world of characters who meet and make movies together)?
I'm new and possibly getting lost.My puppet is floating a head with arms. I got that working fine by having the L & R arm folders right in the head, highest in the layers so the arms&hands move in front of the face (very important).But then I wanted to step up and allow the head to turn with profiles. So I duplicated everything and made all the adjustments (as per Okay Samurai's youtube) BUT now I have 5 sets of arms to go with every facial profile. That's A LOT of identical arm rigging!IS THERE A WAY to have all my facial profiles and just ONE set of arms attached to this floating head puppet and the arms move in front of the head when dragged? Once I have this down I can make more puppets but this is the sticking point! --Thanks
Hello! When recording "face" behaviors using camera input Character Animator automatically swaps out mouth shapes based on smiles, mouth open, etc. since these are tagged as such in our puppet rig. Is there any way to prevent that behavior? We've tried adjusting all of the parameters under Face and things like mouth strength don't seem to help. In the past we have tried to fix this by not tagging the alternate mouth shapes and instead using triggers to swap out the art - but that has led to other issues in the rig. So we now tag them in the rig *and* have triggers that swap out the art. Side note: we would love the ability to separate out some of the parameters under Face to be able to record them in separate passes and combine them later - i.e. passes for eyebrow movement and head position.Thank you!
Is there a video out there that explains the relationship between character animator and photoshop files?I continually get a result where the psd file loses some of it's behavior characteristics when updating photoshop psd file. I have made sure it is pointing to the same psd file but keep getting a result where the psd character does not walk when it did in the original. I made a copy of the original psd file but quickly hit a wall of functionality when doing minor changes.
Hi, I'm new in Character Animator and I have no idea what I did wrong... yesterday I can recording puppet movements, editing it, everything. Today, I want to record new scene but when I click record button, puppet freeze, arm don't want to move, non reaction. Also timeline freeze. In camera&microphone window everything looks good and when I'm not recording puppet works fine, I can do everything, but after countdown to recording - nothing work. I tried reinstalling programm but still have that problem. Any ideas what can I do?
Is there a walk cycle in the motion library for a front view character? If not, how do you create one using Character Creater?
My character has multiple Eye Gaze behaviors across six sets of interchangeable eyes. I have changed the eye gaze behavior for each of these to be "Mouse & Touch input" (Camera and keyboard input are disabled across all eye gaze behaviors. On the Record and Stream pages, I am able to control the eyes with the mouse, as expected. However, when I click the record button and then click and move the mouse inside the scene panel that holds my character, the eyes are completely unresponsive and do not move in response to clicking and dragging with the mouse. I have tried turning off all eye gaze behaviors but one, but no change in behavior. I have also tried to record dragger operations (like dragging the arms) while disabling the eye gaze behaviors. Nothing happens in record mode when I click and drag the puppetos arms with the mouse (the red dot next to the Dragger behavior is filled and bright red, so it's clearly enabled for the recording). I added a walk cycle behaviour to my character which worked fine, then added the head turn which also worked well but in the scene view the legs disappeared. Am I able to have these two behaviours added to one character or should I delete one, which would not be ideal for what I'm trying to create.My character's head is also the body so the limbs are attached to the body. This worked fine before I added the head turn. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I downloaded and installed Character Animator (beta) today. When I try to run it, the splash screen comes up for a second, but then it crashes and give the error "!m_devices.empty()". What do I need to do to fix this?
I want use CA to create single scenes where the puppet can then be ‘reskinned’, given different lip synchs and backgrounds so that I can create multiple animations to target different groups/communities. Am I right in thinking that I would just Edit Original with the puppet and copy over the Photoshop/Illustrator file ensuring all layers are the same? All the rigging would still be there, right? Or is there a better way of doing this? Thanks, Greg
Trying to figure out how to do this, hoping someone can help. If I have two puppets, one is a horse and one is a person: The horse is standing at a 45 degree angle to the camera. How do you get one of the person's legs over the horse?I've tried hiding one of the legs entirely but it looks terrible. The person is top layerHorse is bottom layer Thank you!
Hi I've built a puppet in adobe animate but would like to impoprt it to use for character animator. It's in ayers already, I can rename to add + etc, but is there a way to get this puppet to character animate from animate? All the tutorilas seem to be for a rig buit in either photoshop or ilistrator. So far i've only managed to import it as a full picture but with no layers. Thanks in advancex
Hey Everyone, made a Live shadow and some draggable handle on It (same position like the artwork) . now I would like to move the shadow same time like the draggable artwork. how can I do this?
Hello guys, thanks for any help in the past. I have this one annoying issue thats been puzzling me though. Sometimes when I'm working in CH I notice layers movie position in the rig window. These same layers are in the correct position in AI when I check. One might think I could be accidently moving them while working but I guarantee they are randomly moving position on thier own. It's not always the same layers but many of them behave this way. It's quite easy to reset them buy deleting the layer and saving the AI file again to reinstate them. I cannot figure out whats making them move around. Possible CH bugs? Wondering if anyone experiences this once in awhile.
I updated to version 22.5 and it made it practically impossible to use any of my puppets. Their arms weren't able to bend anymore even though their rigging made it possible in the older version I had installed.I saw a similar post since this update with a user saying they had a similar problem. They had figured out ways to change behaviours/rigging to make it work for them but it simply isn't worth it to me. I've since reinstalled the version below 22.5.This same thing happened a few months ago when I tried to update to a new version. I don't want to have to fix the bugs myself within each puppet to be able to update the program. I have too many puppets across different project files that would need me to go in and manually fix them.Does anyone have any insight to this? Will the newest update receive bug fixes to insure this doesn't happen again or will I have to take my chances with each new update?
Hey everyone, Has anybody had issues with character animator beta? Mine recently hasn't been able to add backgrounds or the character just doesn't show up at all. Maybe some pixels here and there. I updated the latest version of the app, but nothing has changed. If anyone has any solutions, that'll be greatly appreciatied. Thank you.
After updating to the newest CH beta my Puppets or Scene will not show or if it does its distorted artwork, now its just displaying a Blank screen even after importing different puppets. this problem only seems to exist within the CH beta as the Original CH works perfectly. PLEASE HELP !!!! I REALLY NEED TO USE THE MOTION LIBRARY 😔
How can I use the software to project on a back lit screen to interact with live people while hiding the interface. For instance. On halloween, I'd like to project the puppet and scene/background while hiding the interface. Kind of like Power Point in "presenter mode." Viewers see only slide while presenter has access to all controls. TIA
I'm pretty new to CA so forgive me if I get some of the terms confused. We're developing a puppet that gets around in a motorized wheelchair. He's created with 3/4 moving views both right and left and the moving chair cycle, I assume, will be a trigger. The puppet is not yet complete, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a similar puppet that I could use as a learning tool for rigging?
