I'm quite new to Character Animator and created my first character with full body tracking, body turning and IK Limbs. Over all it works quite well, but I'm gettings some weird stretching issues and the head is coming loose, even with Head Position Strength at 0%. Hope you guys can help me to resolve those issues. If someone wants to have a look at the project I'd be glad to share it.
Hi,I am just learning Chartacter Animator and Animate. I picked out a character in Character Animator and I want to make a scene of him walking and jumping. Can I do this in Character Animator? Do I have to import the character into Animate to do this? Is there a tutorial somehere that I can watch to learn hoe to do this? Thanks
Dear @k_oshiro (or anyone else!), since you have solved some of the harder problems here, do you have a solution for this one? There is a problem with long hair that should go behind the body when the head is independent and in front of the body. That is, you want a structure such as: +Character. +Head. Body. Long Hair Behind Head and Body The problem is because the head is independent, the "Long Hair Behind Head and Body" cannot attach to it, so the hair does not follow the head as it moves. If you put the hair inside the head, then the hair is shown in front of the body. The best solution I have seen is to not make the head independent. Then the hair can attach to the even though it is behind the body (because the body and head are a part of the same mesh). Do you have a solution for making the head independent with hair behind the body?
Hi Dave. I really appreciate you taking a look. It's been 2 days, and I feel I just made everything worse this morning by adding a blink. This should be a simple character for me, I've used your previous projects as a guide in the past, and stole your eyes and mouth before, but with a fresh character I rigged, it's a mess. All I really need with him are eyes to work and his jaw to just pivot when I speak. No arms. No vowells. No real body movements. And I feel defeated. I had close to what I needed yesterday with the mouth. I watched the rigging of eyes video and so many others. I know my issue is using the crown and order. But now I've tried so many variations it looks ridiculous. HiI am trying to export only a portion of the timeline in the Record workspace. I don't see a way to do that -- other than to export it via Adobe Media encoder and select the range there.....However am I missing something and there is a way? I only want to export (tif sequence) the middle section of my recording.Thanks!Rowby
I haven't used CA in about 8 months or so. Right now I am having a problem putting a puppet from Photoshop in Chracter Animator. All I've been able to do is bring a backgound into CA. Every time I try to put a puppet into the Project panel only the folder holding the puppet goes in and then I cna't open the folder. What gives?
I've read all that I can find in a search of Character Animator Help about the Layer Mesh and I really still don't get much of a sense about what its for and how I can best use it. The search linked to five different pages, but all of them seem to be written as if I already have a fundamental understanding of Ca's meshes and I am left with more questions than I started with.A video tutorial or even a page dedicated to Mesh (that sounds funny) would be helpful.Thanks,Martin

Hi all, I recorded a character's eyegaze for a 7 minute recording in one take using keyboard input. Upon reviewing, I identified that I needed to re-record several areas in the timeline. I was able to make short recordings to the eyegaze (3 to 7 seconds) the first two times and position those recordings in the timeline appropriately. During the third instance, I recorded, but no bar appeared in the timeline. Upon replaying that section, the original eyegaze positioning was shown and not the newly recorded one. Since I am not seeing any changes in the timeline bar, I am wondering if there is a limitation to the number of eyegaze recordings one can take, or am I missing something?
Created several puooets. Exported a few videos. After I finished the projects I would Export Puppets to use at a later date. these puppets are rigged and ready. This morning however all the rigging data has been lost on all of my exported puppets. I was under the impression that once I exported a puppet, the rigging information along with the artwork would all be saved into the puppets new exported document. Can someone please help me either get my rigging set up back on my exported puppets or advice me of the mistake I made that caused all the information to be lost, that way I dont make that mistake again. I'm about to get the dreaded "Let's add a little bit here" request from my client. Is there a quick and easy way to insert frames into the timeline or do I have to drag everything one way and back again?
I have changed the color of the skin of my puppet in photoshop, I saved it but the changes are not synch with Character animator. When I change the head shape for example, I can see the changes on character animator, but not the color! Any Idea ? Thanks 🙂I have uploaded the file

So I've tried everything and I'm getting super discouraged and frustrated. I cannot get the arms to move! I've spent over 5+ hours on this project and I need to get my arms to move, at least, up and down. Anybody, PLEASE HELP ME!
Character 2.11 AME 12.12 I'm using the most recent versions that I can Install. The very latest are not compatible with my Mac. When I try to export an animation I've made I get a small message saying "Open AME" but it is already open. I've tried quitting and restarting the apps but it's still the same.I've tried looking online for the answer without luck so I'm guessing it's not a common problem.Can anyone help? It seems like lately every time I add a new propt or hand or anything into the PSD for any of my puppets character animator will heavily shift a different layer to a random place. Idk if maybe when you add something it changes the origin of different layers. for example I added a cable as an independent layer in the frontal position of a puppet and the head layer in the right quarter angle shifted down like 5 feet and I had to manually move it all back into place in character animator when in the PSD it is all aligned correctly. Any ways to avoid this as I am dealing with a massive amount of puppets and layers and any ways to save time is very big.
I have a question on walking behaviors. I want to use the "Walking Behavior" and use "Walk (basic walk)" and "Run (faster/longer stride)" in the style at the same time in the same scene.And I want to set each to "replays" separately. Is it possible? Thanks.
Hello,I was so excited about the new Arm IK. I fallowed Okay Samurai tutorial on YouTube but I keep getting stretchy arms. I have made sure all button are checked and the stretchiness is down to one. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?Thanks for the help.Entertech
I'm using a Photoshop Puppet and was going to use the "Hole In The Head" meathod of eyeballs and blinking but need the eye "Lines" and lashes to be in front of the head (obviously). Is there a way to rope the lines in front to the same as the eyelids in the back?Or should I bite the bullet and do the masking thing that makes my head feel the same as when I try and figure out daylight savings?
I was wondering if anyone could suggest a tool or program that would allow me to move images around and draw, while the puppets are performing in the foreground? (For example, a teacher would be the puppet, but what could I use to manipulate the background as if it were the teacher/puppet chalkboard?) Much Appreciated.
Hello, my team and I are using DropBox Pro and experiencing these 3 issues when trying to open files. ISSUE ONE (occurs with Adobe Illustrator open by the way) USER A - creates file. Works fine on their computer. Saves file. Reopens file. Works well. File syncs to DropBox. USER B- Opens file. Receives error message. Puppets open but timeline won't. Error message: Internal Error code 1109000033:349+8 bad argument #1to 'Localize'. ISSUE TWO: User tries opening project, receives error code: Internal error code (726879107:1952+60) sorry, this project is too old to open in this new version of the app (no git refs found with this version information). I uploaded screenshots if any help. What's this mean? What do I need to fix it? Any ideas? thank you.
Hi everyone,I've noticed that after I play around with a character's walk style and get it how I'd like, it resets to the default with every new scene. It's not critical, but I'd love to save myself the extra work. Is there any way to attach the walk style to the puppet's default, and then still have the option to change it in a single scene if need be?Thanks!
I have this character and I need it to transition between some specific posicions and create gifs. Does anyone have a tip on how to make if smooth?
Hello!1) I made 4 layers per mouth viseme and added cycle layers for smoother lip sync.2) In the Cycle Layers Behavior I checked the Forward and Reverse box along with the Hold on Last Layer box If I uncheck the Hold on Last Layer box the viseme will play forward and reverse but if I check the Hold on Last Layer box it will not reverse at the end of the viseme (**it works perfectly when I drag the blue line in reverse (end of viseme to start of same viseme) in the Timeline.) Is this just the way it goes or is it not working properly for me? Appreciate your time!Chris!
