Question

Ghosting and image retention in UI panels of Illustrator & Photoshop with LG Ultra Fine 5k Monitor

Since Illustrator 29 and new Photoshop I suffer an annoying ghosting bug on my LG Ultra Fine display with 5k (at an iMac Pro from 2017). I thought is was only realted  to Adobe products.

But it is not.

It is a problem of the display itself.

Hi @uesix,

I'm sorry to learn that you're experiencing ghosting issues on your screen while using Illustrator/Photoshop on your machine. To help resolve this issue, could you please reset the Display/Scaling settings to their defaults in the OS preferences and in Illustrator, then restart your computer and relaunch the applications to check if that makes a difference?

Additionally, consider switching the display connection (HDMI/Thunderbolt/Dock) and let me know what you find.

I look forward to your response.

@Anubhav M  Thanks for this quick answer!

It is not related to Illustrator.

Thanks for your help

Hi @uesix,

Thanks for sharing the additional details!

Since the display connection is limited to Thunderbolt and there is no HDMI port, could you confirm if there’s an option to use a USB Type-C to HDMI adapter to test an HDMI connection? This might help us identify whether the issue is related to the Thunderbolt setup.

Additionally, here are a couple of suggestions to try:

1. In Illustrator, go to Preferences > Performance, and uncheck GPU Performance.

While this may slightly affect performance, it would be good to test if it impacts the ghosting issue.

2. In Illustrator, go to Preferences > User Interface > UI Scaling, and set it to Small.

This can sometimes help with UI rendering issues on high-resolution monitors.

Let me know if any of these steps help resolve the issue or if further assistance is needed!

Best,
