Question

Good evening!i have a question about making mosaic, as "create object mosaic doesn't work, no matter what i do. the object is vector. version 30.3

I drew on object, then i tried to use the function “Create object mosaic”. But this option isn’t even bold, it stays grey (not available). The version of my Illustrator is 30.3. Please help, explain how i can use this function. Thank you

Hi,

@Monika Gause is correct. Create Object Mosaic only works with embedded raster images, which explains why the option is greyed out when you select your vector artwork.

You can still use your existing artwork, though.

  1. Select your vector artwork.

  2. Choose Object > Rasterize.

  3. Choose your preferred resolution and click OK.

  4. With the newly rasterised image selected, go to Object > Create Object Mosaic.

  5. Set your desired number of tiles and other options, then click OK.

The Mosaic command will create vector tiles from the rasterised image.

I'd recommend duplicating your original vector artwork before rasterising so you retain an editable copy.

Adobe's instructions are here:

Hope that helps!
