Question

How do I select parts of an Adobe stock image to use in a party invitation?

I've found a lovely set of watercolour images of fairies from Adobe Stock which I want to use to create a party invitation. I've licenced the image - so I can drag it over into my artboards (though it is huge), but I have no idea how to select part of the set of images (say just one of the fairies, or the flowers etc), and then make them smaller/move them around etc. I'm sure I'm missing something - I'm a newbie, but I can't see any information on how to use images like this in Illustrator. Do I need to use another app to manipulate the images first?

Hello @Claire27916824vktw,

Thanks for reaching out. I hope the suggestions shared by Ton and Monika helped resolve the problem. If not, kindly check if the licensed image is a raster file (JPEG/PNG). Then, you might need to cut out the individual objects from the image using Photoshop.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Thanks,

Anubhav

You could try if my tutorial helps: The Vector Clip Art Missing Manual: Selecting Objects

If you can show a screenshot of the artwork together with the layers panel (click on the triangle to open the layers as well), then we can give better advice

Which Adobe stock image? Is it a layered Photoshop file?
