Hello. I need help. I created a file last month and now I cannot open is. I get the message "The file sample.ai is in an uknown format and cannot be opened"This has happened to some files. I saved them in different options and I get this message.I deleted the app. Re installed it an nothing.Also the app was up to date, no third party plugins. The app is crushing 2 times a week. My computer is bright new with higher requirements than adobe needs. I need the files back. This is happening is ai files and in eps files.Any thoughts? Thank you

I don't know about overall, but in my opinion, Illustrator has gotten worse:The Eyedropper tool constantly copies colors with errors, making changes, so I have to check it every time.The Type tool recently started setting the font I used before, even after I changed it—it still reverts to the previous one.I'm not very satisfied with the product lately.

I was told that if i purchased adobe illustrator that i could use it on my ipad and desktop they keep sending me the same link over and over to check requirements but i do not see how one purchase lets you use it on both ipad and desktop it looks like you purchase it twice but then you have your work on two different devices instead of being able to work on the same illistration on both applications 

Hi.I don't know how to word this well. I'm inexperienced with illustrator.I have two paths i want to combine and retain some pieces of. when using the pathfinder in this way, i get half of what i want. i want to retain this one intersection line. how should i do this?

English:Some shortcuts use the opening and closing square bracket keys [ and ], particularly those relating to the size of the tool.My question is twofold:on my AZERTY keyboard, I don't actually have [ ] keys. You have to type ( or ) parenthesis keys, combined with the Alt Gr key. But in Illustrator it doesn't work; I tried with all sorts of combinations of Alt, Shift, Alt Gr.... The size of the tool remains the same. Hi, I've been dealing with this for a long time, since export replaced the old "save for web" command. When I have linked images placed at ANY angle different from 0º the exported artboard results in pixelation. This doesn't happen if I use the legacy Save For Web command. This is makes the multiple artboard export completelly useless, because if I want to avoid pixelation, I have to export every artboard individually. This also happens to EMBEDDED images which I don't use since it makes the file size too big and slow. I'm attaching two images of the same file, one was created with EXPORT command and the other with SAVEFORWEB.  

The issue started with the new version of illustrator.  Deleting the tspan element caused errors in the SVG file we saved the CAD file to. We have always used save as "SVG 1.1" from our DWG files and the issue is that the elements have changed in the file when we do this. To resolve the issue and remove the elements it requires opening the SVG in notes then searching for the extra element that needs to be deleted which is a very tedious manual process.

There is a bug that is preventing text boxes from being resizable with the direct selection tool. Mac OS 14.5, Illustrator Version 29.0.1 (I can't check if it's up to date bc Creative Cloud won't load the Apps tab lol). To replicate: paste text into a textbox so that it is overset. Deselect all objects. Use the Direct Select tool to try and select two anchor points on the same side by clicking and dragging. Result: the entire text box is selected, instead of simply the 2 anchor points you tried to select. You can even deselect the other 2 anchor points, and try to edit the text box, but the entire thing will be selected regardless of the visual indicator of selection. I am honestly running into more and more bugs in Illlustrator over the years, and they never seem to be getting fixed. Can we expect this software to be supported in the future?

I need many objects to be lets say 10cm each. When I select them all and they are different sizes, they become 10 cm in total. I need them to be 10 cm each.

Hello, ive recently tried to install Adobe Illustrator on my Macbook for work related reasons. Unfortunately everytime i attempt to start it up it hits me with a pop up error telling me i need to change the preferences 'read only' to 'read and write'. Ive done this, multiple times to the assigned folder, sometimes even attempting other folders. Even making sure to press the setting; apply to enclosed items. However every time i try to start it up again it just gives me the same errors.In a video i watched about this it also told me to give my Adobe Illustrator full disk access in my privacy settings, that i have also done. Ive tried to open up illustrator with and without that granted access however im still met with the same error code. Ive tried to open up Adobe Photoshop to see if it would do the same, but with that i had no issues and it starts up fine. Is this an Illustrator only thing? Or could it be my computer? I've never really had to manually set something up for an Adob

I've seen this posted as an issue before, and it is still happenign for me using the latest v29.2.1 version. Zoom scroll on my mouse wheel jumps from 4.17% to 3200% which makes it unusable. I have tried enabling/disabling 'Zoom with Mouse Wheel' with no affectThe only thing that had any effect was disabling 'GPU Performance' the zoom distances improved but it was a clunky zoom. 

..and its correspondent keyboard short cut.I'd say that this one is a basic feature in a vector drawing program.I know that  there are plugins that does this (but i wouldn't want to expend extra money) and also i can't add the keyboard shortcut to the plug in.Thanks

I recently bought a new iPad and started an Illustrator membership for doing design work for my business. Would the same membership allow me to use it on my iMac too? Obviously, I don't want to pay for a secondary membership (and can't afford to), but there may be some functions that would work better on my iMac. Any info would be appreciated!

I have just realised that I am the only one who gets notifications of comments on a review (sent from Illustrator).   Is this normal, I would have expected everyone to get them, or do they all have to be added by email, I think the link has been shared so presumably they cannot?

Is it legal to sell AI-generated vectors created in Illustrator on Adobe Stock? Also, can I mark them as AI-generated with a checkmark? Or not

Scaling Bullet-Threaded Text in IllustratorI’ve tried several methods to scale bullet-threaded text in Illustrator, but I haven’t been able to achieve the desired result. Here are the methods I’ve attempted:Scaling by 150%: When scaling, only the area boundaries scale, but the text itself does not scale.Using the Free Transform Tool: The spacing and bullets are not correct after scaling.Adding a Rectangle and Grouping with Area Text: When grouping the text with a rectangle and scaling, there’s some random movement, which creates an annoying result.Using CTC: I can get the perfect result with CTC, but I’m wondering if there’s a way to achieve the same scaling without using CTC.Is there a better way to scale bullet-threaded text without these issues?@7121172 @9259294 

Hello everyone, I had a problem while working on Arabic text with AF-Najed font, I created the main file on windows and then I bought a new Mac then I installed the same version of Illustrator and here the problem appeared that the program reads the font strangely incomprehensible I tried to install different versions program, and the problem was not resolved

Im having trouble doing something that I would think is ridiculously easy, but I can't find any  posts regarding purging "cache". Once apon a time I could go to preferences > file handling > Clear Chache. It's like it was completely removed. My computer is going ridiculously slow when I have Illustrator open. I assume its and excesive amount of RAM thats being used by cache.So. . . Is there a way to clear/purge all of illustrators cache? With the exception of Settings of coarse. I also use Astute Graphics. I don't want to do anything that might affect that.

J'essaie de créer une palette de couleurs dans la bibliothèque afin de les partager avec mon équipe. Je ne comprends pas pourquoi les palettes déjà créées apparaissent correctement dans la bibliothèque (voir sur l'image la palette nommée "INFO") alors que les couleurs que j'ajoute apparaissent désaturées dans la palette (voir la palette "Élections Info"), comme si elles n'étaient pas actives.  Nous avons déjà plusieurs palettes de créées, mais elles ont étées crées par des collègues et non par moi. J'ai toutefois les accès nécessaires pour modifier les bibliothèques, le problème ne se trouve donc pas de ce côté.

Hi, I have used ilustrador long time ago but since last year I found out some issues to print, trying all the settings out I can't get the right colors, for example sage green and shades, beige and shades, dusty ping and shades are printing like grays. My printer is a Epson ET 3830 and work thru windows 11, inwould like to knownthe right presets to get the real colors on matte glossy sticker and photo paper. Thank you!!

I have a .ai file with a text string in it, say "abc". I saved it in the default format, "Illustrator 2020". When I reopen this file, I find that the string has been split into (a group of) separate Compound Paths, "a", "b" and "c", making it impossible to edit the text. I wonder why this has happened? On the other hand, a copy of the file saved as "Illustrator 2020 EPS" has retained the text as a single editable string. FWIW I recently opened an old file (from 2011, produced by Illustrator CS3) and found that that had also split blocks of text into separate characters. Is there any way to recover editable text from these groups of characters? Richard

Hi,I'm not necessarily looking for a script—I’m just curious if a tool could be developed to enhance Illustrator’s Scale tool. Specifically, I’d love the ability to input a custom scale value (e.g., uniformly 125%, 100% height, 20% width, etc.) while also being able to position a custom anchor point, as currently available in the Scale tool.I understand that the Transform Each function allows users to select individual objects, input values, and place an anchor point. However, this feature has limitations:The anchor point can only be placed within the object's bounds.To uniformly scale multiple objects, users must group them first, apply scaling, and then ungroup—adding unnecessary steps.I see a clear opportunity for improvement by integrating Transform Each features directly into the Scale tool. Hi, I have been using illustrator app since past 2 years. But recently I have been facing the issue of opening the .ai file.The file starts downloading in Microsoft edge, but doesn't open directly. I still can open it by right clicking on it and choosing ' Illustrator app' from the list of apps. ( it doesnt even show the option of 'Always open this file in Illustrator'Please Help
